Pigs are scary. They absolutely can and will eat you if they get the chance, even the domesticated ones. And wild boars are some of the most aggressive wild animals you'll ever meet.
Who else had the game? ✋ Essentially the same premise as the Jaws game from several years’ before, where you attempted to retrieve objects from the monster’s open mouth before it mechanically (and unpredictably) snapped shut… imagine that?! 🤯😁
I cannot believe I forgot about The Boogens and The Brain!! They are so great!! Super fun video, wonderful concept, and thanks again for having me! You're amazing! 🤗
Actually Deep Star Six had many recognized TV actors from it's day in it, the main reason it doesn't get much respect is the movie Leviathan came out around the same time and had pretty much the same premise with more familiar actors.
I rewatched The Boogens yesterday and I think it's a really good film. Great snowy atmosphere, good characters. I'm very happy to have it in 4k. Fun fact: the actor who plays the old man is the same actor who plays the father in the Father's Day segment of Creepshow.
All these movies are great. Thank you for shining a light on The Kindred. I never hear anyone talk about this gem. It's so damn good. The effects are excellent. I love the creature. The characters are good. The premise is great. It's just so much fun and the Synapse release is just beautiful. I hope more people discover this film because it's so underrated and under seen
Great video! I’d like to add that The Nest is based on the novel of the same name by Gregory A. Douglas-one of the iconic (and really stomach-churning) horror novels of my youth. It was reissued a few years back by Valancourt Books in their Paperbacks from Hell series. Well worth reading!
My favorite underrated creature film of the 80s isn't on this list. I love cheesy creature movies, and this is so bad it's not only good, it's funny. It's Humanoids from the Deep. It stars Doug McClure, and was released in 1980. Again, it's set in a small town, people start dying and pretty teenage girls start disappearing. If you like cheesy creature features, you need to check this one out.
80's creature features are untouchable ❤ CHUD is the 🐐 of 80's creature feature horror films!!!!! Aliens & Predator & even Terminator are in the same realm but they are big budget so they don't count
Love the list can’t wait to check out some of these films and really enjoyed all the other reviewers with Daniels excellent channel as the wrap around 👏🏼👏🏼
Awesome video! Cool to see several fellow content creators contribute a pick. Creature Features are by far my favorite sub-genre. Thoroughly enjoy all of these except Extro. A little abstract for my tastes. If you dug The Boogens and Deep Star Six, I'd recommend 1988's Deep Space with Charles Napier.
One movie that I love to watch that is from 1988 is "Black Roses". It's heavy metal horror movie that has excellent makeup effects. Also , you got a young Big Puss from the Sopranos in it.
Great selection. I saw all these movies back in the vhs era. Saw most of them again later on better quality and I own a few copies on blu-ray. Another movie of that time I enjoyed a lot is The Rift or Endless Descent from 1990. Great creatures and fx
In Germany "The Kindred" was released with the title "Anthony". It was really popular on VHS so they later released two seperate films as "sequels". First "The Cellar" from 1989 became "Anthony 2" and then "The Runestone" from 1991 got released as "Anthony 3".
The Boogens and the Ghoulies are two films that we talked about a lot despite never having watched either. My best friend and I used to refer to diarrhea as having “the ghoulies”.
I love so many of these. I rented Alligator a lot growing up. 2 on here I need to see - Slugs, which I THINK I saw around 30 years ago, so I think it may be time for a re-watch on that one, and The Kindred, which I have heard of but haven't seen. I need to see it, especially since you have it ranked so highly.
What about Creature, with Klaus Kinski? That was pretty good and cheesy. Definitely didn't expect Xtro to be on that list. Nice job. This is why I love Tubi. They have all the cheesy horror movies from almost every decade.
Deep Star Six main actor Greg Evigan is part of my extended family. So i saw Deep Star Six in the theaters in the 80s and own a copy. Also Raw Head Rex is an old favorite of mine. I have seen most of these on VHS back in the day. So very nice list.
YES! Also one of my favorite 80s creature flicks. Alien criminal that digs fast cars & heavy metal and jumps into any available human body. Totally awesome movie - the opening car chase sequence hooks you into this one right away!
I worked at a video store from 1987-89 in my first two years of college. Perfect job for me as a film fan; I'd do it again in an instant. I remember the VHS box of "The Brain" but never took it home. I really want to see "Razorback" as I've heard a lot about it, all positive. "Alligator" is tons of fun and the 4K looks beautiful, very much like a 35 mm print in excellent condition. And pets being eaten in the sewers...and Jack Carter being carried away pool-side. Oh, man...I remember the VHS box of "The Kindred" in the video store as well, Anthony...never took it home, though.
I remember the controversy surrounding test tube babies in the late 70s and into the 80s, with the birth of the first one in 1978. There was so much concern over whether she would "have a soul." Doesn't surprise me that a horror movie would be made about all the fear around the new technology!
I was 10 when I saw Alligator in the theater. It scared me hahahaha. I still love it and all the others. My childhood was awesome! Thank you! I look for content from you every day! You Rock!
DUDE... ❤ THIS VIDEO WAS PHENOMENAL!! AND LOADS OF FUN TO HEAR FROM NEW HORROR CHANNELS I'VE NEVER HEARD OF BEFORE!! SO DAMN COOL!! 😅 You, my friend, have just earned yourself a new subscriber with all the bells on! Keep 'em coming!! I eat, sleep, and breathe horror, and I need to talk about it a lot with like minds! This is great! P.S. -- ALLIGATOR used to be that movie I would hunt down on the weekends in the early 90s on USA NETWORK or TNT or whatever, and I was obsessed with it!! Nobody knew what movie I was talking about on the playground, but it was so amazing I always had to track down who was playing Parts 1 and 2 that weekend. I was about 10 or 11 when I discovered it, and I was already obsessed with the JAWS series and Horror in general (my best friend's older brother, who was 16, would go to the Mom n' Pop video rental stores and get us whatever we wanted to watch during sleepovers. Anything with Jason in it was preferred. 😊). It was great to be a kid in the 80s... when the weekends came, we had the best Saturday Morning Cartoons, we played with the best toys that are iconic now, and when the sun set we had the best scary movies to creep ourselves out to when we thought our folks wouldn't find out. Lol Incidentally, it's how we saw naked women for the first time too. Lol Taboos all around for an 80s kid...
My husband got me that same shirt your wearing 2 years ago for my birthday. Great minds and tastes! Loved the 10 movies listed too had seen them all thanks to cable in the 80’s and 90’s plus childhood insomnia……the insomnia meant I watched movies the movies didn’t cause it lol
I do own Razorback on Blu-ray, but also saw it in theaters back in the 80s. Also, I saw Alligator and Amityville double feature. When Alligator made its way to TV on ABC, it was the most watched thing for that week.
I saw The Kindred opening night at the theater all those years ago. I think there were like 8 other people in there besides me and the friend I had dragged along lol
I remember seeing Slugs when I was younger, don't remember very much of it but I know it freaked me out, definitely going to have to watch it again. Alligator is a gret movie, I absolutely love it!! Anyways great list, can't wait to check out some of the other ones I haven't seen yet.
If the idea is to highlight obscure creature features, I'm not sure Alligator belongs on this list. It was a financial success and a critical success . Horror fans have known about this for decades.. That said, this is a superb list and I'm absolutely thrilled to see The Kindred make #1. I waited for a proper Blu Ray release for decades after seeing it in a theater and falling in love with it. Synapse absolutely nailed it with their restoration. One other title I would suggest is The Burrowers, a nifty creature feature from a while back that I believe was initially meant for theaters but went direct to video. It's set in the old West and has some locals terrorized by subterranean creatures that emerge at night to attack. It's really well made and slipped right under the radar.
Great list. The Boogens and Xtro are a lot of fun. Alligator is awesome! I consider it the best animal attack movie. Another lesser known favorite of mine is Blue Monkey.
Greg Evigan from the movie deep star six was a well known TV actor in the 80s. I remember when DSS was in the theater. It was roughly around the same time that Leviathan was in theaters. The only movie I hadn't heard of on this list was boogens. Gonna check that one out.
Excellent list. I can't dispute it. I would give honorable mentions to "Blue Monkey" (1987), "The Deadly Spawn" (1983) and "Q: The Winged Serpent" (1982)
I’m sitting here listening to you folks talking about discovering these movies on DVD etcetera when I watched all of them on their original runs in theaters…with the probable exception of Xtro. I think I had to wait for that one show up at Blockbuster. Man I’m old.
The Boogens, Alligator, Razorback, Slugs, and Deep Star Six is half of my top ten movies of the 80s. Great picks Daniel.
So glad you included Razorback. Doesn't get the credit, it deserves!
Razorback is the greatest movie ever made about a giant killer pig. The movie is gorgeous, and Russell Mulcahy is an underrated genius.
Pigs are scary. They absolutely can and will eat you if they get the chance, even the domesticated ones. And wild boars are some of the most aggressive wild animals you'll ever meet.
It’s a warthog; not a pig. They’re not considered pigs in the country of Australia 🇦🇺 Thank you Sir!!

Alligator is a really good movie. The part with the pool stayed with me for a long time.

Yes! Love This! Thanks for inviting me on. ❤ Great list
Thank you, Mel, for saying "wreak havoc," instead of "wreck havoc."
Alligator was a staple for Halloween parties and sleepovers. Also Waxwork 1 and 2. Oh and The Deadly Spawn.
Great movies! Except Deadly Spawn, which I still need to see!
@@cobwebschannelspeaking of Alligators have you heard of the Alligator people as well as the teenage zombies and Beach girls and the monster?
@@cobwebschannel That's a great one. Not quite as rewatchable as Basket Case but way gorier and just as low budget.
Daniel, I really love how you describe the movies without spoiling it at all. More movie vloggers/podcasters need to take notes from you.
I cannot believe I forgot about The Boogens and The Brain!! They are so great!! Super fun video, wonderful concept, and thanks again for having me! You're amazing! 🤗
Thank you for joining Mel! You’re awesome too!
Great stuff everybody. Thanks for checking this out. All of these are definitely worth checking.

Rawhead Rex and Pumpkinhead/Vengeance The Demon are my two favourite creature features from the 1980's. So glad to see Rawhead on this video 🤗
Same love them both
The Boogens TV commercial was legit terrifying back in the day...
Kindred scared the crap out of me when I was young. The watermelon scene was just amazing. Brilliant practical effects
Picked up the 4K of Alligator the moment it hit the market! One of my all time faves!
All these movies are great. Thank you for shining a light on The Kindred. I never hear anyone talk about this gem. It's so damn good. The effects are excellent. I love the creature. Amazing video, Daniel! Great stuff!
I have rented a lot of 80s horror back in the day from crazy Mike's. I'm looking forward to this
Great list, and I own all of them with The Brain, Alligator, and The Kindred being my favorite.

Respect for Juan Piquer Simón, one of the titans of spanish commercial cinema.
Great picks. I'm fortunate to have seen them all. I wore out my VHS copies of Razor Back and Alligator from watching them so many times. Awesome show.
Nice to see Xtro on this list. Such an underrated mind bending oddity of a movie. One of my all time faves

Ah man, I love these kind of movies. Both scared and fascinated me as a kid.
Amazing list I had to order two of these I have never seen before. (Slugs & The Brain) great video !! Creature features are some my favorite films.
Blood Beach is one that nobody really talks about much.

Deadly eyes. Rats in New York city eat steroid grain and become super killer rodents that look suspiciously like mop covered dachshunds. A must see.
