About 3 weeks ago, I came to the same conclusion and copped the SER5Max.

Thank you for the honest review. I have the Trigkey R7 5800H 32gb which is even cheaper than the ser5 max and I am enjoying the heck out of it❤

I think these mini pc's are the best, I don't care about gaming on a good pc. I'm an old senior and I'm more interested in watching movies and doing office work on these mini's. Thanks for the video. It's going to be a hard choice to pick one to replace my laptop. But it will take up less space than a laptop and less cumbersome to use with my external keyboard, mouse and other peripherals that I have attached to my laptop now.

We use both of these models on our consolized pc project. I can attest to their high quality and stellar price/performance ratio. Thanks for the video! Love your stuff.

I own the Beelink Ser5 Pro (before the 5800H model), with the R7 5700U , works fine with Kdenlive where I create TH-cams, almost as fast as my mid tower build! I did remove Win-dose 11 pro, run Mint 21.2 OS, works quite well!

I got a SER5 a few months ago when it was on sale (was ~$275 after a coupon) since I wanted to move my main machine to Linux but still need a windows box. If I were buying now the 5 max at a little over $300 would be my choice, makes sense that these are selling well given the price/performance.
For me personally the price of the SER6 and all the similar spec'd mini's cost too much if your main focus is AAA gaming, there are just too many second hand/refurbished/whatever PC's that can be had for around $300 + whatever low end GPU and you will have a better system though not as low power. If your main focus isn't gaming and you want low power and small they make more sense but then the question is will the IGPU really make that much difference.
Still, great to have options and the next few years could be really interesting in the mini pc space with meteor lake coming soon and even more so if MS can actually make ARM + windows a thing this time around (yes I know it's a thing now but barely).

The SER6 2024 edition can be bough tfor about 400 with the Ryzen 9 6900HX and with the much better iGPU 680M with 12 cores running at 2400 MHz.

I'd say that for some of us the SATA connector in the SER5 is more practical than the M.2 connector in the SER6. I have the SER5 and I installed an old 1 TB 2.5" HDD in no time, so I have a fast SSD for the system and an additional 1 TB HDD storage for free.

That's what I plan do to, but I have a 2T HDD instead. This will work for me.

I am curious about the difference between the ser6 max and the ser7(max) and gtr7 pro. Is it possible to compare these?

Is the SER5 Max powerful enough to handle upscaling and using shaders in Retro Arch especially for PS2 and Game Cube emulation ?

ah I've shot`? a Trigkey 5560U 16GB for 200. That was something I couln't resist. Best 5800U was 330 here - I've originally just looked for a N100 ^^ - The only thing, where a N100 might be the better choice could be the decode av1? we will see but wow the 5560U is really quick and the Trigkey is very silent as of now.

the 5560U really impressed in just how efficient it is. Really the best choice for someone looking for a day to day computer. the N100 is really only a good option if Intel's media engine is necessary. I think the vast majority of PC buyers will be happy with a 5560U for years to come.

Comparing these APUs to the one in the stream deeck, how it compares? I have a deck, but that thing is giant and I'm going to sell it, but I was planning on buying a Retroid pocket 3 to use it to play my games via moonlight, but I was thinking on buying one of these mini pc but I don't know if the performance is better or worse than the deck
Yeah, I know that what I want to do is dumb, but I prefer small handhelds (I had a Retroid pocket in the past and I finished there many games with moonlight, but I sold it and bought the deck, so now I want to return to "PC+Moonlight"

the SER5 MAX will perform similar in gamesto the steam deck but the SER6 MAX will perform better. the Steam deck has a 4 Core Zen 2 CPU paired with 8 RDNA2 cores running at a max speed of 1.6Ghz on the GPU. this is with a stock TDP of 15W. So those CPU cores and GPU cores are going to be fighting each other for power. Valve did a solid job on ordering a custom APU that has a good balance of power to performance, but of course a lot of compromises had to be made. The 7735HS has 8 Zen 3+ cores and the Radeon 680M iGPU. That's 12 RDNA2 cores running at a max speed of 2.2Ghz. Since the SER6 MAX has a stock TDP of 60W, The 8 zen3+ cores and the 12 RDNA2 cores aren't starving for power so they can be at max clock speed when gaming. this leads to a pretty large difference in gaming performance.

The SER6 spares another USB3 Port. This is a Showstopper. One does not buy a Mini-PC to plug in a USB Hub, first... 😮

SER7 has been getting into some interesting prices for sure. I would need to get one in for testing tho.
