I went to ALDI today and bought our Turkey Crown to keep in the freezer for Christmas. Another great video. I am busy eating my lobster I got the other day from LIDL. I worked in the 70’s for a company called STC installing telephone exchanges and it was a sacking offence if you carried any sharp objects.
Had this meal last Sunday. I thought it was quite nice. Was just enough for one. Meat was nice and tender and the gravy was better tasting than I thought it would be. Was also great value. Thumbs up from me 👍
I buy the Tesco roast beef dinners. The potatoes and Yorkshire pudding (plus two or three extra Yorkshire pudding, Hearty foods do them 15 for 50 pence in Tesco) go in the air fryer on some tinfoil and the meat and veg in the microwave. They are great value for your money at £2.20 ! Thanks for another honest review 💜💜💜
I had three Hearty Food Company (Tesco) Yorkshire puddings yesterday and they were surprisingly okay. Surprising, because I once tried a Hearty Food Co bangers and mash and it was disgusting.
I agree, they may be fairly good value for the money but I found that eating a small portion like that, makes me feel hungrier than If I had none at all.
These small meals are ideal for a lunchtime but to do that meal properly the yorkie would have to be plate sized and filled with the other bits and pieces. Horseradish and mint sauce, hmm, not sure if I could do that, but each to their own. Best wishes from North Cheshire almost Lancashire.
Yes I have tried them myself from Aldi Gareth for £2.49 they are good value the fact that it says caution contains alcohol at most the red wine gravy the alcohol content at the most I assume will be negligible as one assumes that the alcohol will or would evaporate during cooking 😊
Managed to catch last orders at Aldi on Saturday evening, but it was like the last 10 minutes of a Six Nations rugby match ! Hmmn… room for improvement in these ready meals. Have stopping buying their Stew & Dumplings as the meat had too much gristle. But this particular dinner isn’t bad. Thanks for the review.

You worked at Sellafield? Well that would be an interesting conversation over a pint or three! For the price, this doesn't look bad....but it seems like a lonely dinner for one. With the holidays around the corner, I feel sad about those that are lonely. Thank God, I've got some really great friends as my "family" now.
I am from Manchester originally, but my other Grandparents were from Barry Island, I remember my Grandmother serving up just a yorkshire pudding with gravy, inbetween the starters and main course
Thanks for this, I have in the past walked by this meal in its normal form using silverside or simular cuts, always tough or firm cuts never seen it with brisket before, it has a better flavour in my opinion. If its tender then most likely pre-pressure cooked. Thats how I cook Brisket in my ninja foodi then just air fry it about 6mins after to give it colour, it melts in the mouth. I will try it, and buy some frozen yorkshires to pad it out, and cook roasties a bit more have horseradish sauce with it lovely stuff

Hi Gareth, those 'TV meals' have been around for decades. They used to come on round plastic plates, I don't know if they still do, and were sold in all of the main supermarkets either chilled or frozen. You can also get them with chicken or pork.
It's been out for years along with the chicken breast dinner. It's not new but it's tasty and decent value when compared with the same offering at Tesco or Morrisons.
Good review . Not the worst thing to eat when you come home and you are knackered and cant be bothered cooking . I use them a little but portion size is an issue ,
Another great review Gareth, it really looks delicious. You could have used extra Yorkshire puddings from the last review you did also mint sauce on the peas. Haha 👍

I was in aldi yesterday, got a few interesting looking things including a chicken dinner inside a yorkshire pud, pulled pork meal, so hoping this doesnt turn out bad.
Put the little Yorkshire Pudding under the grill for a couple of minutes, turning half way through. It makes it nice and crispy instead of kinda soggy when you put it back in the microwave.
Aye they do a Roast Beef and a Roast Chicken Dinner, looks like they've updated the packageing and called it "New." I used to buy them regularly, liked them but agree with other commenters the portion size wouldn't feed an adult, I used to buy a wee packet of roast beef slices from the deli section and add it to the dinner. I always do the potatoes and Yorkshire Pudd in the air fryer, veg and meat in the microwave. Won't be buying so often now though since they've bumped the price up. Used to be around £2.69

Those roast dinners are good for me as a pensioner living alone who to buy all the ingredients and cook a roast dinner is too costly. These are roughly the size of hospital dinners but you do have breakfast and tea. A lot of us only eat once a day so it is small for a hard working person.

I haven't had or even seen mint sauce for years but I equated it with roast lamb. That's what my family always had it with. Then some bright spark thought we should replace mint sauce with mint jelly which I can't stand. I guess it's different in the UK.
In the U.K. we have mint sauce & mint jelly. You can easily make your own mint sauce if you can get fresh mint, which can be grown in a pot. Just finely chop or grind up a handfull of mint leaves, add a spoonful of sugar, a spoonful of Apple Cider Vinegar, & pinch of salt & a spoonful of water, mix thoroughly & then adjust the preportion of ingredients till it is as you like.
I agree with Sarah there. Dead easy to make with fresh mint (possible with dried mint but a poor substitute). Never thought of the dash of salt though. Teaspoons or bigger ones? I think it depends on the amount you want to make. You can pretty much do it by eye, you'll see when the consistency looks right and try a bit to taste.
@@KingFahtah Well maybe start with teaspoons & then taste it & adjust the amounts to your own taste. The salt is optional, so you can try it without first.
Best way with mint jelly is 20min before you take the lamb out of the oven is to coat all over with a pastry brush then put it back in on a slightly higher shelf and it will form a crackling glaze
