Does anyone else literally cry whenever they think about the lyrics and how it’s all over Like I know that the show is coming out but it’s not the same. It feels colder, less like home, which is how the movies felt.
waybright_elisabeth _Quinn It would have been cool if the show was about the backstory of the history of Middle Earth. Like the Simarillion, Beren and Luthien, or Children of Hurin. Things that could work and fit with the Peter Jackson films...so it wouldn’t taint the 6 special films..alas, they want it to make it about LOTR, I hope they deliver well.
Lord of the rings and the Hobbit, hit me like no other story. maybe it's because a now deceased family member that introduced me to it, maybe because of how good the films or maybe both. it just feels unreal that it's all over and that there will never be anything like it again.

Not only is this song good for ending The Hobbit, the lyrics apply to real life. It applies to those friends and family that have been with you since the beginning of your hardships. I want this song at my funeral. Because, yes it's sad. But the song also seem somberly happy. It tells people to hold on to the memories and to live their life remembering the journey. That's what I want my family and friends to do. The song is so powerful when you apply it to your actual life. I keep getting a lump in my throat as I think of certain people while listening to this song. It's musically beautiful, but it's just as emotionally beautiful.
Patrick Leigh I be had that same thought about having it played at my funeral also. And for all the same reasons. It is a last good bye, I want family and friends to remember me with smiles and laughter, the good memories of my and their lives. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought of that.
Immediately when I heard this song that's how I felt about it too. I want to play it for my husband at his funeral and then I'd like to have it played at mine. I just think it's the perfect way to end your adventure with the people in your life you know you're going on and heading for home. I grew up with Harry Potter, watched Lord of the Rings captured the world and re-visited Middle Earth with the Hobbit. Billy's voice heralding the last goodbye to a beloved world was just magic.
Wow he sang for 9 hours! I appreciate all the care they put into this song, and I love Billy's beautiful voice. Farewell to one of the greatest series of films ever: Lord of the Rings
The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit are in my mind the most amazing, beautiful, films I have ever watched in my entire life time. They invited you in giving a warm, cosy, safe feeling from the first scene and left you happy, but also so very sad, aching for loss and feeling like there's an empty space that can't be filled after the final end scene of the last film had finished. The cast, crew, music everything were so professional, they worked so hard to bring something amazing to life , you felt like you were there and part of it and now I'm getting all emotional watching this video.... trying not to cry.....oh here it comes😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Felt like Peter and everyone cares about the fans and how much we value the LOTR trilogy and the cast. Bringing in so many tiny similarities into The Hobbit and then this song connecting the trilogies is just so precious :')
Anyone who ever asked me what my favorite Trilogy/movie, is always LOTR. Had such an impact in my life and especially when I was younger. One of the most cherishable memories and experiences I've ever had. Nothing can really compare to it and I hope someday I can share this wonderful world of Middle Earth to my children in the future. To experience them imagining Elves or Dwarves were real, the sword fighting.. just brings tears to my eyes. To have a reflection of myself in my future kids is just wonderful.
When one seeks perfection and will settle for nothing less so comes together the amazing collection of artists and collaborators of The Hobbit and LOTR - love reliving every minute of it 20 years on. Thank You Peter and Fran especially. Mellon
It seemed like such a simple song. Pure. But really it was a goodbye from Middle Earth to everyone. And it rings of all the farewells we must say. Billy Boyd sings it so beautifully. Seeing how many people and how much work went into the song is an eye opener.
While I liked ALL the music used in the 6 movies, Billy Boyds music and singing I really LOVED. When it started playing, even tho I had a few tears over Thoren, Filly, and Killys deaths, I totally lost control over the waterworks. I wish PJ would re-release all 6 in "DIRECTORS CUT" and add "LAST FAREWELL" at the end of "RETURN of THE KING" too.
I agree with all of that except the part about Return of the King. Into the West with Annie Lennox was amazing and finished up Frodo's Story. Just like how this song finished up The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings as a series and everyone that was apart of it.
I would like to see re-release of all six movies in extended cuts but with one change. With all respect to Ian Holm and his amazing performance as Bilbo I would like to see the scenes with young Bilbo used from Hobbit at the beginning of the Fellowship.
I really loved this song since the first time I head it. It got the pure scent from Tolkien books: lovely, bittersweet amazing stories. Billy's voice makes me love the song, the books, the characters even more making me remember that regardless the ordeal, there is always hope and good in the world. .
Annie Lennox's song is totally amazing...I loved it from the first instant I heard it...but this song with Billy's voice....I'm sorry, Annie. I still love you and your songs and your voice, but as for the songs from these movies...THIS song is the one I think of when I think of the music from the movies. Billy Boyd. Perfect as Pippin. Perfect for this song. Perfect.
The Last Goodbye. This song brings back so many memories, all involving my dear Nanay (Filipino, 'mother'). I resigned from my job and went home to my parents' house planning to care for my bedridden mother who was very ill. Due to covid, I had to quarantine myself first. With limited things to do, I rewatched all six LOTR films chronologically. Was on 3rd night of quarantine - and almost done with The Return of the King - when someone knocked on my door. My sister. Our beloved mother had just died in her sleep. This song simply breaks my heart!😭
When I came out of the theater after Fellowship of the Ring I was laughing and crying and jumping up and down. I didn't think it would be possible to do Tolkien justice but you DID it! I will always love you, many thanks to one and all!.
I can never listen to this song and not cry. It's just like, my childhood and teenagehood are letting me continue without them and waving me goodbye and IT FUCKING HURTS.
Would be sweeet if i sit in a bar and billy boyd just walks in sings this song and leaves again. Just for the goosebums i get from this song. Ooh i can see the faces of all the people in there stunned from beauty.
did anyone else think the Misty Mountain song had undertones of Billys song? like if you hum "home is behind, the world ahead" and then hum "Far over the misty mountains cold" its a very similar tune XD
The part that is the most similar to "Home is behind, the *world* ahead" is when the song goes "The pines were roaring *on* the height ". The emphasis on the word world in the first song and on in the second song definitely provide undertones pointing to a similar composition.
that song makes me cry every time.......even watching how they did it I started to well up in tears......can't help it, it was a good bye to Thorin, Kili, Fili and The Hobbit........ :'(

I didn't know that Billy Boyd played Pippin until I watch this video. Love it. love the music. and Billy Boyd.. In the end of the Hobbit it search for the music and download it..
So many emotions!! Watching these, the movies everything, will never get old!! (unless you watch them a thousand times like me😂) This world means so much to me!! And this song perfectly begins and ends Middle Earth in so many ways!!
Literally this song breaks my heart every time. I actually listened to the song before I had the opportunity to watch the movie and I've had an addiction to LotR in all forms since I was three. Knowing that this franchise was over with that song kills me every single time. No matter if it's the real thing or any kind of cover or even just a few seconds of the song, I tear up. I am doing so right now actually.
After watching the lord of the rings and the hobbit, i just feel that i left part of me with them i don't know what is it but I miss them and i miss middle earth.

Man I can not STOP CRYING THAT IS THIS
That song is a masterpiece! Hits my soul every time, thank you.
*Thorin,Fili and Kili
Supersede Into the West? No I don't want that, though I do agree this new song is amazing.
I would like to see re-release of all six movies in extended cuts but with one change. With all respect to Ian Holm and his amazing performance as Bilbo I would like to see the scenes with young Bilbo used from Hobbit at the beginning of the Fellowship.
Billy's accent is amazing.
I really loved this song since the first time I head it. It got the pure scent from Tolkien books: lovely, bittersweet amazing stories. Billy's voice makes me love the song, the books, the characters even more making me remember that regardless the ordeal, there is always hope and good in the world. .
Is there any song Billy sings that won't make me cry?
Yes listen to beecake
Listen to beecake
Loved all three Hobbit credit songs. Fun to see an actor from Rings contribute on the last one.
Perfect.
There’s so much emotion.....it’s beautiful.
He must be such a sensitive soul to write a song like that and sing it the way he did. What an incredible talent!
Anyone in 2019? I still love this movie ♥️ 🎥
Yup. Doing a LoTR marathon now and felt I had to watch some background stuff and ended up here. :D
Yesss!! I love all these all movies!!❤️ Can't wait to re-watch them all with my Dad!!
kpop is my middle name it’s been only a few months since I’ve finished the LOTR and the hobbit
Love these movies.
me!
8:00 billy's laughter tho
best fan appreciation ever!
I really cried when I finished watching all of the movies and listened to this song.
:'(
The Last Goodbye.
This song simply breaks my heart!😭
beautiful
I have meet him and.........he is so nice
Oh, you lucky thing! 🙌
I love lotr and the hobbit. Always in my heart.
The secret why Billy made this song sound so good is because he put his soul into this, cause the franchise means so much to him ^_^
Every time i listen to this song I feels like Im part of the journey and Im being so emotional.
Billy has a fantastic voice and the emotional way he sang this was perfect for the film. Love his music and LOTR.
They ended up making this song absolute perfection 👍🏻
Who knew? What a lovely group you are and thank you for putting so much into this. Billy’s performance was amazing.
The perfect choice, this song makes me cry every time, billy ending it as a goodbye to the series it’s brilliant
What a wonderful voice
All 3 songs are beautiful ❤
This is such a beautiful song.
And they nailed it! Heartwarming song
Would be sweeet if i sit in a bar and billy boyd just walks in sings this song and leaves again.
Just for the goosebums i get from this song.
Ooh i can see the faces of all the people in there stunned from beauty.
did anyone else think the Misty Mountain song had undertones of Billys song?
like if you hum "home is behind, the world ahead" and then hum "Far over the misty mountains cold"
its a very similar tune XD
Raptor Jesus no ):
Yeah... No
The part that is the most similar to "Home is behind, the *world* ahead" is when the song goes "The pines were roaring *on* the height
". The emphasis on the word world in the first song and on in the second song definitely provide undertones pointing to a similar composition.
that song makes me cry every time.......even watching how they did it I started to well up in tears......can't help it, it was a good bye to Thorin, Kili, Fili and The Hobbit........ :'(
I openly cry everytime.
Only 3 dislikes (26/9/18) obviously from Tom, Bert and William- THE TROLLS! Thank goodness they are just lumps of stone now, thanks to the power of daylight and Gandalf.
I saw the Hobbit films before I'd even seen the LOTR films, which I now love!!
These movies and songs are really incredible. I will always remember them
This song reminds me of Professors Tolkien's the road goes ever on
Beautifully done 💖
I cry every.time.I.hear.it. Billy was the best choice.
God these movies are amazing. Hobbit, LOTR, Harry Potter

So many emotions!! Watching these, the movies everything, will never get old!! (unless you watch them a thousand times like me😂) This world means so much to me!! And this song perfectly begins and ends Middle Earth in so many ways!!
Itty bitty legend of cinema right there Mr Boyd. t/y
just love it! I've been listening it over and over again... And I love these movies too.
I can't I'm having CHILLS ALL OVER DUDE!
I am doing so right now actually.
they nailed it!
It was a perfect song, ending the movies. I tear up every time i listen to it. Tolkien would have approved i believe.
Beautiful song.
After watching the lord of the rings and the hobbit, i just feel that i left part of me with them i don't know what is it but I miss them and i miss middle earth.
Pity he doesnf have more songs... i love his songs! His voice is soo good... when he sings pain slowly fades away....and this one , omg, i have noo words for it!!!

I'm crying like a little baby 😭❤
THANK YOU FOR SHARING! Keeps me sane during quarantine. LOTR trilogy film is the greatest of all time!!!
His voice makes me cry
I got so surprised and loved the fact billy got to sing in the last movie
I think it was a fan service and they did it for the fans lol
Wow, I’m so glad I googled who sang this beautiful song! Amazing how it all tied together. Masterpiece
