    As someone who've watched the extended and deleted scenes , played all the games and watched all the clips , and even watched the production of the movies , nothing brings the trilogy (even the hobbit trilogy) together like good music . Edge of night and misty mountains are some of my favorite pieces of all time and middle earth lore will always be in my heart ever since I was a child .

    • @Westminstrelsy
      @Westminstrelsy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I get you about the music being the fabric that binds the two trilogies together. I could close my eyes and listen to the soundtracks, and instantly be taken not just to Middle-earth but back to the time in my life when I first discovered them. Beautiful nostalgia! ☺️

    This song makes me immediately tear up. It's such a masterpiece and I can't imagine anyone else singing it other than Billy Boyd. Such an amazing last goodbye and a farewell to those films, Tolkien and the fans. It holds so many memories of us watching those movies and them making those. Just watching a mini documentary on one of the songs from the Hobbit trilogy really drives home how much more Peter Jackson and everyone involved in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films actually cared about Tolkien's work and the fans when compared to the dumpster fire that the Rings of Power was. I think more care and thought was put into this one song than the entirety of the Rings of Power series.

    • @D00GNUKEM.
      @D00GNUKEM. ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you read the hobbit. Because it’s pretty clear at least the writers and director of the movie couldn’t care less about respecting Tolkien’s work.
      Absolute trash trilogy

    • @kennycarver1774
      @kennycarver1774 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@D00GNUKEM. Yes, I have read the books multiple times. While there are definitely differences and lots of things left out completely, I understand why they had to leave things out in the movies because otherwise the movies would have needed to be like twice as long, which I would have been fine with, but that's Hollywood I guess. Production companies want to see results and there are timelines and such. Some changes and things left out I don't really understand, but I never got the sense from those movies that the writers and directors didn't try to capture Tolkien's themes and the basic structure of the books. Whereas if you look at the Rings of Power it's almost unrecognizable when compared to the works it is supposed to be based on.

    • @kennycarver1774
      @kennycarver1774 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@D00GNUKEM. Also, just to be clear, I was comparing the amount of care that went into the films vs the Amazon series. The films aren’t perfect, but to me, and frankly to the vast majority of Tolkien fans out there, Peter Jackson and the team associated with the movies did an extraordinary job translating the books to film compared to what Amazon did with The Rings of Power.

    • @D00GNUKEM.
      @D00GNUKEM. ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kennycarver1774 my bad man, I should have been clearer. My main gripe is with the hobbit films specifically. I absolutely love the Lord of the rings trilogy, it’s a masterpiece.
      But as for The hobbit. They fabricated a whole bunch of nonsense and added stupid recurring characters like legolas who was not in the original book. so they could milk 3x 3 hour movies out of it and beat as much money out of that dead horse as possible. While also simultaneously cutting out excellent parts of the original story that are Tolkien fan favorites. Tom Bombadil for example.
      I love the lord of the rings. Books and movies. The Hobbit. Is my favourite book of all time. And the movies disgust me. A simultaneous cash grab and slap in the face to real fans of the book.
      As for rings of power. I can’t comment because I refuse to watch it. I knew it would be terrible the moment they announced it.

    • @kennycarver1774
      @kennycarver1774 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@D00GNUKEM. Yeah, I definitely agree with the whole Legolas nonsense, not to mention Tauriel. I honestly didn't dislike that character, but I didn't understand why they felt it was necessary to add in that character and a love story instead of adding in more of awesome characters like Beorn or Tom Bombadil like you said. I think Tom Bombadil is a difficult one though because so little is known of him in general. Despite it's flaws and my little gripes, when you compare it to Rings of Power it's a masterpiece. I think if you watched Rings of Power you would understand, but I definitely don't blame you for not wanting to watch it. It will just infuriate you.

    So much work to do a song so the fans could enjoy it, and so it feels "tolkien". But then then they decided it was a great idea to invent Tauriel and her stupid romance with Kili. They just wanted everyone to cry at the end. For the good and bad reasons.
