Here is something I do, sounds weird, but it is helpful. I puree a head of celery, a 2# bag of peeled carrots, 1 garlic head, 1-2 onions depending on the size. Puree as smooth as possible. I freeze into a muffin pan in 1/4c measurements. Freeze. Removed from muffin tins and put in zip lock bag. Label, date, freeze. When I make sauce, soups, chili or anything I would add those items to, I grab 1 or 2 and toss them in. Instant flavor and nutrition. Save chopping daily. 1 make this 2 to 3 times a year depending on how much I use and need. I also chop/slice onions and freeze, along with red, green, yellow, orange peppers when on sale. Saves money, time, and I have them ready at a moments notice.learned these tips and tricks from my mother and cooking from scratch and watching others, like watching you.
Okay this is definitely not weird this is a great idea thank you for this I'm definitely going to do this...I already use ice trays or the little silicone things to freeze my eggs cause I have chickens and get so many eggs a day that I don't know what to do with them all lol so I give some away then others I put in ice trays and freeze them and when I need an egg for anything I just take whatever I need out of the bag that I put them in once they froze and I popped them out of the ice trays and the silicone trays and it's awesome o can fry them scramble them do everything with them lol and they stay good for a while it's actually something awesome to do with your eggs to save them
Another great video. Thank you for sharing your family & recipes with us. We are a family of 6, 5 still at home including 2 w/ special needs. Honestly I rely on ebt (no shame here. I work 40+ hrs a week). Starting in March my grocery budget will be $300. I know I can do it. You have given me so many great ideas plus going to be growing all that I can. God bless
I just started watching u today and already in love with you. You can hear life going on in the background that's normal not like other ppl it's like they r perfect with no common problems going on around them 👌 💯
Noel, for the Flashfoods app you don't have to pay anything for the app. The only thing you pay for is the food you buy from the stores, who list them on the app themselves. So, for instance, I also live in the midwest in Indiana and Meijer is the only store that participates here too. The employees at Meijer list the items on the Flashfoods app for sale. You check the app for the stores in your area and if there are items you want, you buy it through the app. When you go to Meijer to pick up, there is usually a special fridge and shelving area for flashfoods that customer service helps you gather you order from. The Flashfoods app just facilitates a way for Meijer to sell extra or close to expiration date items so that items do not get disposed of and wasted. 99% of the time all of the items that Meijer lists are at least 50% off for me. I get produce, meat, dairy regularly. Sometimes I also find good pantry staples. There is no markup for using the Flashfoods app. And the prices are much lower than what I can find on clearance at Meijer or Kroger without the app. If you find something that interests you, you can try a small order to see how it works.
Ur family so lucky to have u cook all these yummy meals for them everyday. Gosh I would of loved that growing up. ❤ you and Charles do great things for ur family 😊good people.
I imagine your counting down the days to shopping but if you're like me I get a little anxious when I do my monthly shop where I buy all the household items , cleaning stuff etc and frozen but I do all this online so I spend a week putting things in shopping baskets Sainsbury's and Tesco and Iceland. I love watching you cook so relaxing. Thank you.
Today, Cheese Omelette.Lunch Baked Ham, and mixed creamed veggies. Dinner tonight, BBQ pork chops and pasta sauce with meat cooked through it and gravy. Dessert. Fresh Cheesecake. So delicious 😋🤤😋🤤
I made pizza beans the other night for dinner and really liked them for a clean out the fridge meal! I just sautéed up some onions, added white beans, bbq sauce, Italian seasoning, and some leftover ham and bacon I had, when those finished cooking together for a bit I added some smoked Gouda and mozzarella and broiled it.
Whipping then folding in the eggs gives you a lighter, fluffier batter and waffle. I know you knew this. You are an accomplished cook. Sometimes thoughts/words do not come to our lips from our brains at the right time.
Noel you do what you need to do for your Family don’t worry about what others think You are so kind and generous to share your Family and life with others God bless you sweetie 🙏🏻✝️☮️❤️💜🌷💗🌹❤️🩹💕🍀🙏🏻
Ill have to try your coconut milk recipe. I tried a store bought coconut milk once as a replacement and it had a STRONG coconut recipe. So I went back to almond milk for cooking but ill try this way. Thank you.
I use Flashfood, I don’t think I had to pay for it. I have found great deals on there. A lot of times there is big boxes of fruit/veg for $5.00. I shop like you do finding mark down meats. On Flashfood they’re 50% off instead of the 20-40% off in store. I live in KY and it’s only available at Meijer here too.
❤👍 love your channel! I'm definitely going to try that blueberry syrup looked so good. Thank you for sharing it with us. Always look forward to your uploads great content. Have a beautiful Sunday stay blessed👍❤
If you have leftover pie dough just ball it up and wrap in plastic wrap and put in fridge, take it out and let it warm up next time you want to make something,,like you said tarts or use muffin tin, shell on bottom, filling,,bake..the crust will stay good wrapped for at least 2 days in fridge
@@bluejayacreshomestead6529 your welcome,,if you save it like that just make sure its warm enough to roll out again, set out in morning but keep it wrapped up or it will dry out.

Great job Noel. I have the same cookbook. It was my first one for my hope chest all those years ago. Married in 1970 and this year we will be celebrating our 53rd year together! I think your Charles should remain the taste tester...he is doing a great job too.
Have you ever watched LargeFamilyLove TH-cam channel? It's my other favorite channel. Tiffany and Gerry started a homestead and they low-spend grocery shop too. She cooks from scratch most of the time. She uses Flash Foods and finds amazing deals. I think you would enjoy watching too.
I love watching your videos . I couldn't tell , but is your perk coffe pot electric or stove top ? I've been looking for a stove top one at thrift stores . And how do you clean out the grounds ? Sorry that's a silly question but it's one thing I have hard time doing without making a mess and I don't want to rinse the basket out in sink .
Happy Saturday, sweet friends. Hope everyone is doing well and having a wonderful Saturday. We are. Everything looks so delicious. Meals we had today: breakfast- ham and cheese scramble with toast, lunch- chicken salad sandwich with chips, and a pickle, and supper- Tiffany's (LargeFamilyLove) salisbury steak meatballs with mashed potatoes and Italian green beans. All my favorite cookbooks are old. You’re right, they have mostly simple ingredients that you regularly buy.

By separating egg whites from yolks is so you can whisk air into whites which creates a more airy waffle.
Yes I know. My brain just was not working lol. It was a long week
I think I’m in the mood for tuna casserole...yours looked delicious ❤️❤️❤️
Ill have to try your coconut milk recipe. I tried a store bought coconut milk once as a replacement and it had a STRONG coconut recipe. So I went back to almond milk for cooking but ill try this way. Thank you.

A full can of coconut milk contains nearly 1000 calories. Why would you do this to yourself on a regular basis?
Hi Roby 😇
