Since the anabolic diet started, I can’t even remember the last time I drank protein powder with just water. Always bake it into foods or mix into creams (or the occasional black coffee), but Im liking this test approach
Welp we all know if we use a bad protein powder in a recipe it definitely shines through in the final product so besides dry scooping I certainly wanted to try it in its purest form.
What really makes the difference is the blend of whey and casein. Although I haven't tested the pescience protein, I find that in general the chocolate and vanilla flavors are the best. It seems hard to me to get a cheesecake taste in a protein.
Excellent protein for cooking! You can just add 1/4 tsp of baking soda to it and enough water to make a paste, nuke it for 30-35sec. and you get a decent mug cake. Only Quest works better for that, but Select tastes better.
@@Exercise4CheatMeals I was shown this trick years ago. Many of those recipes add stuff because they're using powders that don't have any casein. You have to add stuff with a whey complex or isolate. Never tried the Strawberry Cheesecake as I had way too high expectations for it and didn’t want that ruined haha. Glad you tried these. Having tried all of the flavors I couldn’t agree with you more so far. SC was a big letdown. It had that protein flavor to it. The cheesecake definitely didn’t shine through, and of all of them mixed the worst. Seemed more clumpy than fine. MCC was not minty enough, but easily remedied. Try adding a little peppermint extract and it is 🔥. PBC is on point. I personally like it better than the chocolate peanut butter cup, but I also prefer PB flavor over chocolate. That leaves Snickerdoodle…🤤. Probably my favorite. Currently have some homemade Snickerdoodle coffee (added expresso) and Strawberry Cheesecake (added some sugar free cheesecake jello and strawberry preserves to jazz it up) protein bars. Next is a PBJ bar. Can’t wait to make it. Anyhow curious to see what you think of Cake Pop as that is my other favorite flavor. IMO it’s like Vanilla with some razzle dazzle. Great video and appreciate your honesty.
Mostly agree with your scoring, although I like the strawberry cheesecake just fine for smoothies and anabolic cheesecake. But you're right, has 0.0 cheesecake flavor in it; it's just a semi-decent plain strawberry flavor. I use the snickerdoodle flavor to make your snickerdoodle cookie dough and it's absolute fire. Looking forward to the next review. Their cake pop and cookies 'n cream are my favorites by far.
The aftertaste with water wasn't it. It very well could be good and not noticeable when combined with other ingredients though. I am stoked to try and make the snickerdoodle dough with it. Im curious to how the texture turns out with PEScience
@@Exercise4CheatMeals Any of your cookie doughs with the PEScience ... she thicc. Just keep in mind the snickerdoodle PEScience is on the sweeter side (likely a bit sweeter than the vanilla whey you use), so you may want to dial back the added sweetener a tad depending how sweet you like it.
@@Exercise4CheatMeals And yeah the only PEScience Selects that are great with water imho are the cake pop, snickerdoodle, and cookies 'n cream. Honorable mention to the peanut butter cookie and chocolate mint.
The Chocolate cupcake is my go-to for baking if I need a chocolate flavor (tastes much better than the "regular chocolate" flavor almost everyone uses, if you get my meaning). Oddly enough the smell of the PB Cookie is off-putting to me but their Chocolate PB Cup is outstanding. If I ever need a chocolate-PB base for an ice cream, I always go to that flavor. Definitely agreed on the chocolate mint. I got a sample of that last year or so and was stoked to try it, only to go "wait did I open the right packet?" As a side note: for baking, I've also found that PeScience and Quest powders are almost identical when it comes to blending whey/casein ratios. Not as much flavor variety with Quest, but it can be cheaper/easier to get ahold of!
Appreciate the review brother. I have the chocolate peanut butter cup and was torn between the peanut butter cookie. Hoping you plan to review that as well. May need to buy the PB cookie next time. Appreciate you man💪🏻
