I remember my first Mid-South in 1979. We marched into the stadium and everyone was on their feet before we played our first note. We couldn't even hear ourselves during Stars Fell. Those were the days! I'm glad to see Uncle Dave's spirit continue to have an influence on their sound and style.
I took part in the reunion this past year and really enjoyed it. I haven't done much with them in the past decade, but really admire how far they've come since then. They've got to be one of the finest on the field overall of anyone. I'd like to see video from any challengers out there. 2birds
Saw them play in Starkville a few years ago during halftime for the JSU/MSU football game. I was blown away, we all were. Outstanding band, hope they come again this Saturday.
dude i saw the southerners at last nights mid-south and needless 2 say they were AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it made me want 2 be a marching southerner even more, and whats cool is that my band director marched sax for the southerners and her husband played snare for them also i think they were marching this show maybe im not sure though
omg they are amazing...and their pit is HUGE i wish we had that (im our only pit person *cries*) but ya i cant tell if its just my computer being crappy or if they are off
Does the last few seconds have strains of Madison's closer in 1988? Sounds always lot like it for a couple of seconds there. Regardless, when I saw this show in 2006, it was the best Appalachain Spring has sounded since the Cadets did it in 1987!
ohh yeah for all you atheletic people out there... if any football team had that precision they would be almost unbeatable... yeah i know (for all you bandies out there) don't talk about phantom regiment that's d.c.i. i know that spirit has rough edges but i love jsu and plan on attending in fact i just came back from there honor band and i made wind ensamble even though i was last chair i still made it ooh yeah i play tenor sax and i can't sight read well thats all thats holding me back

What a show! Too bad the person filming the event didn't include the "flying wedge" at the end.

This band seems to rip off other World class drum and bugle corps shows a LOT. They can play well though, I gotta say.
