I was so confused by the second set of ingredients, then I heard, “New Years Eve at the retirement home.” Also, “I managed to pull the cigar smoke into the drink.” That’s realistic. When you’re around enough old guys smoking cheap cigars, the smell gets pulled into everything. Everything.

Their rosé is pretty decent (I can't remember exactly what it's called but it's something like Sunset Blush iirc) The Sauvignon Blanc is exactly as horrifying as his response suggests, though.
Interesting variation on the format could be, call up 3 friends, ask each what alcohol they have on-hand in their home, and pull from that to create a cocktail for each. Adds in a more real "what a person has on hand," element
@@thomasfrederiksendk Yeah, i started with a 12 bottle bar, and went from there... now i have an entire console table covered in liquor... oops? i guess?

The whole beer and bread thing is pretty accurate - in Denmark it evolved into a dish in and of itself. Øllebrød - which translates to beer bread, it's basically old, dry rye bread that is soaked in malt beer and then cooked. Commonly topped with cream, whipped cream, eggnog or sweetened whipped egg whites. Very tasty and deceptively filling. You eat one dish full, go back for seconds and then half way through you start to feel like you ate an entire loaf of rye bread.
Here in America we have a version of beer bread as well. I'm not exactly sure how it's made, but I think my mum would put a can of beer directly into the dough/batter then bake it. I could eat that stuff all day.
That's basically beer soup and was one of the most popular dishes in medieval Europe until it fell out of favour. So cool to see that there are still places that have kept this old dish.
i usually use very dark bread, you always see very light bread being used but it has no flavour! the dark colour is all malt, delicious delicious caramel type sweet malt. i think they only use light bread so it doesn't look like a cow paddy. 😅
Curious what you'd do at a party hosted by someone like me who has a decent assortment of hard liquor and liqueurs, but can never manage to remember to keep mixers on hand.
I love the back and forth between Greg and Meredith. Up to this point she's just been (mostly) some nebulous figure on the other side of the camera. Really glad you gave her a mic and can't wait for more flavor/color commentary on future episodes.
cheers mate, big fan here. I really think that there are two great tests for a bartender: making good drinks with subpar ingredients, so that you know the reason its good is NOT the quality of the ingredients, and making a creative mocktail. That is, in particular when you are out, you can immediately tell the quality of the bartender and of the establishment by the presence and quality of mocktails, because that demonstrates that the establishment is not targeting people who just want to get drunk.
I like that Greg warns people to be careful with the "cocoon coffee cooler" making you go to the bathroom... as if anyone is going to decide to make these let alone make multiple of them.
I would really appreciate a play list of your lighter format episodes, Im a huge fan of the looser format ideas, bad cocktails etc, and less hardcore drink mixing. As someone recently to the channel I dont know what Ive missed!
my friends and i made a game like this. we set up a wheel with ingredients from the liquor cabinet and spin it 3 times. from there i make them a tasty drink that has all 3 ingredients. sometimes you get lucky and make a classic cocktail, other times you have to combine bourbon with blue curacao and lime juice. we call it the Drink Randomizer
My friends got me a set of dice that have different ingredients on them, one with spirits, one with mixers, etc. To do something similar. Roll up a Drink. I play D&D and make drinks so it was the perfect gift. One winner was Bourbon, cocoa bitters, maple syrup, and ginger.
My ex brother in law used to do the 6-4-9 shot for a bar bet. At the bar pick a bottle at random. Count 6 bottles, then 4, and 9 (going to the next row as necessary) and that is your shot. The 649 comes from a lottery where we live, Lotto 649.
@@JMaxwellE just use their water bottles with the numbers on the side. Yes it may mean you're getting 8 oz of liquor but what yoga mom doesn't need that after a long day with the kids 😅
This went from a cool exercise in improvisation to "how can I make the least cursed cocktail if I have to use everything?" 10/10 will watch Greg struggle again.
Excellent format. I need more of this since I end up having to do this myself all the time. It gets fun. Also fun is when party guests start asking for weird or different things because... well... you've been making them cocktails... Last party I was at a guest asked me for an AMF, but didn't like how negative the Adios part of the name was. They instead wanted it doctored into an "Hola MF" so I swapped the blue curacao with triple sec, swapped in some Monster Ultra Fiesta Mango instead of sprite, and spooned grenadine down the side to settle at the bottom of the hurricane glass they wanted it in. It looked like a sunrise.
This reminds me of a pirate themed party I was at last year. Everyone brought rum except for a bottle of coke, so lemons with no juicer, some whiskey, and I wisely brought a pomegranate liqueur (like an actual one with , not just syrup). In fact there was also no Ice and water so after a corner store run a I did lemon juice and the pomegranate with a few of the spied rums, mainly the kraken. It actually turned out to be an instant hit.
It would be really cool to see a series of you coming up with drinks that people could make after sending you pictures of what they currently have in their bar or liquor cabinet at home. Kind of fits that party idea and lets the viewers be involved too!
This was fun. Please do more of this. I like watching you improvise. Also any chance for anther customer is always wrong video? It is one of my favorites.
Customer's always wrong is basically "cursed cocktail" but actually fun and entertaining, loved them! Also yeah, pushing Greg's creativity to its most twisted limit is fun, this format rocks
This is a cool concept. I would love this as a series. What to do with random stuff at a party. Maybe without the requirement of having to use every ingredient. Could assume that you are bringing at least one ingredient.
Pleeeease keep Meredith mic'd up! I loved it. Maybe she could spray you with water every time you're self-deprecating/mean to yourself (multiple times every episode)
So you know: While people have started calling the tool used to measure pours a jigger. While that is the current meaning of the word its origins are as a specific measurement. A jigger is 1.5 fluid ounces. It was named jigger after the smallest mast on old sailing boats, the jiggermast. 1.5 fluid ounces was the standard size of the vessel used to serve the sailors their daily rum ration.
Did you know that did you know did did you know that a jiffy did you know that a jif did you know did you know that a jiffy is an actual did you did you know that a jiffy is an actual measurement of time?
Just had a party last Saturday to show off my new bar and everything I learned watching your show. I made Mai Tais painkillers and mojitos. Everyone was impressed
The frat drink might actually happen next time I see those illusive guest entities. They often field all of that and would appreciate the hidden proof and ramen/dew theming.
"Party at the retirement home" reminded me that my grandma used to drink scotch and water at the nursing home to help with her dementia. Because she could only eat the food they made and the medicine they provided she had a prescription from her doctor for "1.5 oz of Jameson mixed with water and ice, as needed." Had most of a bottle left when she passed so we all did a shot in her honor.
OMG!! The first party really takes me back... My friends loved Everclear and Mountain Dew. We never did Jag but we did do Root Beer Barrels. And I have a friend that still is nuts over Fireball
See this is why I mounted a whiteboard over my home bar. I keep a seasonally-rotating bar menu of about 10 ish drinks, with a side menu for shots. Makes it infinitely easier to make sure everybody can get something they'll like without having to play guessing games!
Very fun concept for a video! Watched the stream! I feel like another fun video idea would be Cocktail Madlibs where people fill out certain aspects of a cocktail and you have to make Mezcal, yuzu and grenadine or whatever the hell people choose work somehow
Many years ago in my early twenties we were looking in my pantry for ingredients to make drinks. All we found was Blue curaçao, peppermint schnapps, and everclear. Mixed them together to create “The Listerine”. To date the worst thing I’ve ever drank.
Loved this episode! As someone who doesn't drink beer much at all, "seeing what i can mix up" has always been a game of mine, though usually i stick to get basic liquor+mixer combos! Also, hello mystery editor! I thought it was always editor greg sassing himself but there is a second? Fun!
Having to use every ingredient kinda ruined the episode IMO. It went from "come up with a good drink with what's available" to just "mix everything and see how it tastes."
There could have been a High School House Party - Kamchatka, Sunny D, Green Creme de Menthe, Skittles, and a grapefruit that was supposed to be for the parents' Sunday breakfast.

i usually use very dark bread, you always see very light bread being used but it has no flavour! the dark colour is all malt, delicious delicious caramel type sweet malt.
i think they only use light bread so it doesn't look like a cow paddy. 😅
Curious what you'd do at a party hosted by someone like me who has a decent assortment of hard liquor and liqueurs, but can never manage to remember to keep mixers on hand.
In real life? I’m probably gonna mix an old fashioned. Or more realistically be designated driver.
Short island iced tea. (cuz long drinks are ones topped up with soda iirc? So if you take out the soda from a long Island then it's a short drink?)
That's a brilliant idea. I've got to try that once hanging out with friends is an option again.
One could call it a Drink of Destiny. As it reminds me of Cult Moo doing more or less this except with 1 booze, 1 filler, and one garnish/ flair
My friends got me a set of dice that have different ingredients on them, one with spirits, one with mixers, etc. To do something similar. Roll up a Drink. I play D&D and make drinks so it was the perfect gift. One winner was Bourbon, cocoa bitters, maple syrup, and ginger.
I feel like you could go further and add different randomizers. One to determine the base spirit(s), mixer(s), bitters, etc.
My ex brother in law used to do the 6-4-9 shot for a bar bet. At the bar pick a bottle at random. Count 6 bottles, then 4, and 9 (going to the next row as necessary) and that is your shot. The 649 comes from a lottery where we live, Lotto 649.
I INSTANTANEOUSLY LOVE the addition of a mic for Mer. This show rules!!!
You should have used one of those little cups they give out medicine in for the measure at the second party 😂
Or the solo cup itself, each of the lines is a measurement
@@tmathis9882 That would’ve been perfect for the frat party! What do you think would’ve been good for the yoga moms’ party? Maybe a baby’s sippy cup?
@@JMaxwellE just use their water bottles with the numbers on the side. Yes it may mean you're getting 8 oz of liquor but what yoga mom doesn't need that after a long day with the kids 😅
This went from a cool exercise in improvisation to "how can I make the least cursed cocktail if I have to use everything?" 10/10 will watch Greg struggle again.
As an introvert, these drinks/ingredient perfectly match how I experience parties
"I have been granted lemons" never seen somebody so glad to have life give them lemons
The one thing missing from the retirement home party is a bottle of cheap whisky that costs under $10
Hip flask of r and r
"In the Midwest I think they do" 🤣🤣 Meridith is hilarious I'm glad you gave her a mic 🤣
Meredith is right, most dangerous time to drive in Chicago is around 2pm after the mom leave their friend’s houses to pick up the kids from school!!!
Now not only are they magical hands but a magical voice now as well. Love it.
I love Meredith having a mic :^)))
Love the dynamic that the microphone brings to the table. Great video as always.
It’s amazing how much Greg and the show has changed since the beginning.
Considering the ramen, maybe you could try some foreign drinks? I would love a video on Soju cocktails!
Would love to see him make a conjinganmek! Using peach soju for it is so fucking good!
Yay Meredith on Mic. I’d honestLu watch a full series of these, maybe one “party” per episode, iterating to find the best drink possible
Excellent tasting notes as always. "Runs silent, runs deep" is the highlight for me.
This is a cool concept. I would love this as a series. What to do with random stuff at a party. Maybe without the requirement of having to use every ingredient. Could assume that you are bringing at least one ingredient.
Bring 1 thing to the first party and then to each following party, something stolen from the previous 😅
This is easily the funniest episode you've ever made. Meredith is killing it!
Pleeeease keep Meredith mic'd up! I loved it. Maybe she could spray you with water every time you're self-deprecating/mean to yourself (multiple times every episode)
Love having Meridith included. This is exactly like Chopped but with cocktails.
Thank you Walter Cronkite. ⭐
Did you know that did you know did did you know that a jiffy did you know that a jif did you know did you know that a jiffy is an actual did you did you know that a jiffy is an actual measurement of time?
Do you really have to use the hard R? ;)
love the idea of random bar drinks! keep up the great work man, love the direction of the show!
Just had a party last Saturday to show off my new bar and everything I learned watching your show. I made Mai Tais painkillers and mojitos. Everyone was impressed
I don’t know if I’ve seen Greg laugh like this it was like a freaking experience. Another amazing video to drink along with well done sir.
I would like more parties this was a very fun episode. You should do "Thanksgiving at your aunt's" party.
I would like to add "at the cookout" party :) could be fun
20:50 yesss would love to see him make drinks after asking people what they've got on hand
Once again here with a recommendation for Bar Eastern’s Touhou-themed cocktails! Amazing video, as always!
Oh yea I remembered those, those looked so good but never actually was able to make them
@@DavidTokugi44 They’re SOOOO pretty, though I hope I can track down translations for the recipes that are only on NND.
@@LotusHearted I remember seeing a translated version of them on imgur but that was a long time ago
@@DavidTokugi44 The imgur ones are the already translated ones, there’s a bunch more on NND that haven’t been translated.
A cultured profile pic if I've ever seen one
I loved the little "hello" from Meredith's wife. 10/10 very cute.
The frat drink might actually happen next time I see those illusive guest entities. They often field all of that and would appreciate the hidden proof and ramen/dew theming.
Love the premise of this episode! Merideth challenges are great! Making do with limited ingredients is really fun to watch!
"Is that a sandwich Josh?"
Is that a reference to everyone's favourite Mythical Chef I spy there?
Meredith carries the entire show. We stan
Damn that's sad. So like if your family brought her a box of chocolates she couldn't have it?
i like Meredith being part of the show!
5:23 "im GAYYY" i love it, and i also thought you two were married so its even funnier
OMG!! The first party really takes me back... My friends loved Everclear and Mountain Dew. We never did Jag but we did do Root Beer Barrels. And I have a friend that still is nuts over Fireball
that intro had ramen, mountain dew, and a random opaque foamy liquid...this is gunna be a interesting episode
Meredith is awesome and I think she makes a great addition to the show.
See this is why I mounted a whiteboard over my home bar. I keep a seasonally-rotating bar menu of about 10 ish drinks, with a side menu for shots. Makes it infinitely easier to make sure everybody can get something they'll like without having to play guessing games!
Giving her a mic was a great idea! I really like it! :)
Plus, she's got a really warm and nice voice.
Love the idea for this episode, like "Chopped" for cocktails. Will definitely welcome more of this.
Very fun concept for a video! Watched the stream! I feel like another fun video idea would be Cocktail Madlibs where people fill out certain aspects of a cocktail and you have to make Mezcal, yuzu and grenadine or whatever the hell people choose work somehow
It's been a while since I've watched, so WHO is Meredith and her chaotic energy in those party scenarios and why do i love her so much?!
This seems like a fun way to practice improv mixology, I'll probably end up doing this myself (but without the use everything rule)
Many years ago in my early twenties we were looking in my pantry for ingredients to make drinks. All we found was Blue curaçao, peppermint schnapps, and everclear.
Mixed them together to create “The Listerine”. To date the worst thing I’ve ever drank.
Oh that sounds awful hahaha
Loved this episode! As someone who doesn't drink beer much at all, "seeing what i can mix up" has always been a game of mine, though usually i stick to get basic liquor+mixer combos!
Also, hello mystery editor! I thought it was always editor greg sassing himself but there is a second? Fun!
I do enjoy the dynamic duo of two married couples running this shindig
Having to use every ingredient kinda ruined the episode IMO. It went from "come up with a good drink with what's available" to just "mix everything and see how it tastes."
Yeah but he did stuff like drop the franzia and use some as garnish. He didnt just throw everything mindlessly into a glass.
Meredith absolutely killed it with the selections, great video!
There could have been a High School House Party - Kamchatka, Sunny D, Green Creme de Menthe, Skittles, and a grapefruit that was supposed to be for the parents' Sunday breakfast.
I have to be honest I enjoy this set up better than normal I think it's the commentary that I'm enjoying
“You know people think we’re married?”
“Nope, I’m gay”
Thank you so much for blessing us with that line.
