There is a 30 fps gecko code for mario kart wii, it helps the game runs on low end devices at a steady frame rate (it wont run slower, since the game itself has a 30 fps mode for 3-4 multiplayer races)

It's awesome that it can use the gyroscope for shake and tilt. I've been wanting to play some wii games like excitetruck and was wondering if it would have that functionality.
So you know that time when you turned in homework and immediately realized you forgot to include one answer? That's this. I absolutely intended to mention how to do that but forgot. Luckily, it isn't that hard. The key is to look for "Motion Controls" in MMJR and then set it to "use device sensors (without pointer emulation)" and you should be good to go. I will also add that in general Dolphin can sometimes be weird about remembering your control settings and also lie to you. So if your controls aren't working right and you check the settings and they look right, ignore it. Change them to the wrong settings then back to the right ones. It often shows one but isn't always accurate. Also, I will add this info to the video description. Thanks for the reminder!
For tatsunoko vs capcom I found turning off " arbitrary mip map detection" under enhancements and setting shader comp to asynchronous/ skip drawing fixed a good bit of the mid fight lag on attacks and assist calls. Haven't gotten a concrete number on over/underclocking for gameplay improvement yet.
@@gusonian8637 I haven't tinkered around as much on my rp3+ as what I want to play has been mostly set in and going beyond on games that are iffy, to unplayable I haven't much been concerned on. But, the RP3+ has gotten an update for a bit more overhead by setting a system overclock in it's android menu (where you'd find bluetooth or brightness settings) to changing the system to performance or extreme mode to run better. It's not perfect still, so don't expect miracles but, aside from back and forward tinkering, setting the RP3+ to extreme and seeing what you can now get out of it is an option for anything you'd like to get running better than at base.

It gives new life to the rp3+ and going back to some of those problem games with the system set to performance mode or extreme mode. Not everything in the library works but the ones that were just a bit stuttery may yield different results.

Once I get time I may do a super quick video showing how some of those options work. For now I recommend changing your settings, especially i it LOOKS like you have them right, then save an change them back. Dolphin and controller settings don't play nice.

So will non PAL roms just not work correctly? I have a few downloaded that are USA based (in the process of getting my library ready for when I order the RP3+ later this month) and want to make sure I am getting the correct ROM type
Would you recommend using PAL versions of Wii and GameCube games when possible? Or is the screen-tearing due to the screen being 60hz too much of an issue?
It really depends. Most of us are using PAL for testing these higher-end systems because they are most likely to play at full speed due to targeting 50fps rather than 60. For Wii it is especially nice since many of them also have a Pal60 mode meaning you have a choice. Of course generally I would prefer NTSC and if a game runs well at 50 I will usually test NTSC and keep that if it also runs. As for screen tearing I wouldn't worry too much as most of these emulators have functionality to reduce that (vsync, duplicating frames, etc.).
Great tips. Not sure if you'll see this, but maybe. Anyway, have you heard of issues where the left analog won't be detected on Dolphin for Handheld? L3 works, but when trying to set left/right/up/down, it doesn't register at all. It worked when I first set it up, but subsequent attempts have been fruitless. I will see it! Unfortunately I haven't heard of that issue, and I spend a lot of time in the Retroid Discord. What happens when you delete the app and add it again? It almost sounds like it is switching you to another control scheme without telling you, which Dolphin likes to do in my experience.

Currently impossible to map the left analog movement to anything, only the L3 click works for some reason. This is only an issue for Dolphin for Handheld and not mmjr2 which is odd. Driving me up a wall, haha.
I have the same experience and using DFH. I only have Mario Kart and you can’t steer the car. So annoying. Will have to switch to another emulator I guess😢
If you are using MMJR2 (in my guide) you can pull up the menu in a game, choose "overlay controls" and then toggle controls. Just toggle all to turn them all on or off.

This one will get a lot of GC and Wii games playable but admittedly not perfect. For the price I thin it is the best option and if you are on a budget I think nothing else comes close.

It should work but probably breaks every time you launch the emulator. Try changing it (even if it says it is set correctly) and then change it back. Honestly, I just avoid any games that need that feature.

Any help on MMJR just closing right after installation? I tried uninstall/reinstall/clear cache twice now of version 11505, from the GitHub page listed in the GC guide. I even tried v11485 of the app, no dice. I was trying MMJR since MMJR2 gives so many glitches and lag. (Huge thank you for these guides. I have followed them for the lower systems and running great. Got my RP3+ last week & love it!)
@@MjolnirStone I did and it worked, thanks! I found the motion settings under the overlay control settings and did as described. The only semi issue I still have with tilt is that it has the layout vertically instead of horizontally. So it always thinks I'm tilted towards the left lol

That is mostly Dolphin being trash. Do not trust what it shows you. Even if your settings look correct, Dolphin lies. Change it to the wrong settings, save, then back to the right settings. See if that helps. I will also do a video ONLY about this as soon as I get time.

I know we've all been focused on the more modern consoles but the gyros have me wondering... is there a way to emulate the GBC and GBA games that had gyro cartridges, stuff like Kirby Tilt N Tumble, Warioware Twisted or Yoshi Topsy Turvy?
yes, in Retroarch there is a setting to enable the motion controls on GBA games but there is no way to change the sensitivity and its really high by default. I'm sure with some getting used to it it may be playable tough.
so in general wii games are still not playable in a good way with the 3+ but they are on a good way and most of the games before nintendo wii are playable which still is pretty good for a handheld for 150$

If you are using the fork of MMJR in the video description, when you are in a game pull up the side menu, go to Overlay Controls, then Motion Controls, and set it to "use device sensors (without pointer emulation)" and see if that takes care of it for you.
Honestly, gonna just wait a generation or 2 until i can play any gamecube/ps2 rom i want to play without having to individually toggle settings for each specfiic rom i will need in order foe the game to be considered playable.
You get the PAL roms to have the option of running at 50Hz if they don't quite perform well enough at 60. Of course, if space and bandwidth are no concern then go crazy.
When it's ready. AetherSX2 is very complicated with a ton of options that impact performance. It will take a bit longer to properly learn the ins and outs so I can be sure to present the most crucial information.
@@MjolnirStone Nah, I can't digest the fact that a new device came out before receiving a preorder on a previous one. RP3 was advertised as a cutting-edge, budget-friendly handheld, and before my order arrived, RP3+ was ready for preorder. This made my new device already outdated lol. I still placed a preorder on the new model and it still hasn't been dispatched. knowing their marketing strategy, they are going to announce a new handheld in Feb 2023.

Not all Wii games support the Gamecube controller. I suggest switching it to Wii remote horizontal.

I just don't thin that game supports horiontal Wii remotes. You need to use the nunchuck.

next to settings you will find the wii controller icon, choose the controller 1, disable it then enable it again. It will open the setup menu

Don't expect a successor to arrive as soon as the 3+ did - that was just because of the 1 year delay sorting out all the issues with the 3 units.

Always something better coming eventually. For me, I didn't buy it for Wii emulation so any of that is just a bonus.

If you are using the fork of MMJR in the video description, when you are in a game pull up the side menu, go to Overlay Controls, then Motion Controls, and set it to "use device sensors (without pointer emulation)" and see if that takes care of it for you.

Honestly, gonna just wait a generation or 2 until i can play any gamecube/ps2 rom i want to play without having to individually toggle settings for each specfiic rom i will need in order foe the game to be considered playable.
Always an option, but then you will be toggling options to try to get PS3 games to run. :)

You get the PAL roms to have the option of running at 50Hz if they don't quite perform well enough at 60. Of course, if space and bandwidth are no concern then go crazy.

When it's ready. AetherSX2 is very complicated with a ton of options that impact performance. It will take a bit longer to properly learn the ins and outs so I can be sure to present the most crucial information.

@@MjolnirStone Nah, I can't digest the fact that a new device came out before receiving a preorder on a previous one.
RP3 was advertised as a cutting-edge, budget-friendly handheld, and before my order arrived, RP3+ was ready for preorder.
This made my new device already outdated lol.
I still placed a preorder on the new model and it still hasn't been dispatched. knowing their marketing strategy, they are going to announce a new handheld in Feb 2023.
