My Vietnamese GF always bought 25/50 LBs of Thai Three Ladies Jasmine rice. We would drive into San Fran Chinatown to her favorite Asian Market where they had pallet after pallet of different rice. I would say "Rice is rice" when she couldn't find it. Which really really annoyed her. I was tasked one time to pick up some Jasmine rice from a local grocery store when she was running short. At around 35.00 to 36.00 it sounds very similar to Nshima, a side dish from Zambia (served with meat, vegetables and sauce) made with maize meal. No real taste on its own, but so delicious with an accompanying meal.
Fragrance Thai Jasmine Rice is what we eat here. Some rice leftovers don’t last that long. I love cooking fried rice with garlic three times a week. Jasmine rice if refrigerated would last a week. Low end rice do not last long. I’m just saying. The ladies have a natural joyful type of personality. We love to joke and laugh daily, that’s what makes Filipinos young and healthy ❤❤❤

Well y’all have weak attention spans. You can’t concentrate on Marcos just because someone is laughing around him. I think it’s more of yall having a lack of respect for these young ladies.
Hi Mark, I don't think there is any place in the world where you can get rice as cheap as that available in California. Granted, this was over a decade ago when I lived in Sacramento in the Central Valley but one could find "bottom shelf "cheap rice going for about five pounds for 89 cents and ten pound bags going for under two dollars. Interestingly, with a fairly significant East Asian-Japanese population in California with true rice aficionados one could also find five pound bags of "super exclusive" East Asian style rice going for about twelve or fifteen dollars. As far as I was concerned rice is rice; it all tastes good with stir fry so I just bought the cheapest. The Sacramento Valley, which is the northern half of the "Great Valley" which extends from Bakersfield in the South to Redding in the North. the San Joaquin Valley (the southern half of the Great Valley) is full of fruit orchards. The Sacramento Valley (the northern half) is full of rice paddy farms which are submersed until late spring after the rice sprouts. I'm from Connecticut and, believe it or not I never had plain rice until I moved to California at age 28 in 1985. (Okay, my Slovak aunt would occasionally make chicken liver with rice but my mother probably didn't know rice from rice-crispees she was such an abysmal cook. (At the age of 14 I taught myself to cook and outdid my mother's terrible meals, often centered around burnt baked chicken, an over-cooked baked potato and a wilted vegetable, consistently.) Just to let you know I never had grits until, while my younger brother was attending the Univ. of South Carolina in Columbia, I was driving down to visit him and stopped in a roadside diner somewhere in North Carolina where I ordered grits with my Bacon and eggs. The waitress, with an accent so thick I could hardly tell if she was speaking English asked me, "Are you SURE [you yankee boy] want to eat them grits?!" All I could say was, "Yes, ma'me. Bring it on!"
@@Dana-ie2bh You would need at least a modicum of familiarity with the diversity of American culture and cuisine to understand. I have better things to do than try to educate the ignorant and stupid. So I won't bother.
Ya once in awhile its OK. But it gets to be irritating after awhile. Marcos was trying to talk about rice and they found it a joke. He has to have alot of patience here.
Rice 🍚 is life - I have done short grain that gets sticky if not watched - Long grain cooks up nice and fluffy - Parboiled rice cooks a little longer and has a brown rice taste - Jasmine definitely too notch cooks up fluffy and very aromatic which adds to the other flavors and sauces used - I've cooked the short grain and made a rice pudding with coconut milk and cinnamon on the holidays. For everyday a good long grain works for all situations. Taste test sounds like a good way to get a final verdict 🎯😎✌️
It's good to have a good heart and share a meal or two but not all the time they know how to fend for themselves it's like your raising your oldest child Fatima!
King I love the video my friend and I love the family. You are a great man, father, husband and Son-in-law. These videos really make me laugh and the faces Fatima makes with your face 😂😂 great entertainment my friend.
Here's a little story for you, Mark. I grew up with one brother. Across the street our neighbors had two boys also. We four were the best of friends. Of the four of us my friend Billy's younger brother Peter ate nothing (at least nothing that we were aware of) other than "mayonnaise sandwiches." Plain mayo on white bread. We thought his poor diet would stunt his growth. When we all grew up of the four of us Peter was the tallest at about 6'2''. So there you have it. Poor diet? I don't know.
Sounds like you hit on the right direction.... you need 2 rice supplies....one for you (the good stuff) and one for the village.. the cheap stuff... You also might want a solar panel for the washing machine... no sunshine.... no washy washy...... Shout out to the ladies... they were on point with their English.... nice work..
My wife always “prefers” Ganador rice. I call it the rice of the Philippines Warrior! 😂 She cringed when I asked if she liked NFA rice, she basically said that the government rice is the left over stuff, AFTER the rice has gone through the powers that be and seem it acceptable for the minions.
For me personally my appetite begins before I sit down at the table. A good quality jasmine rice from Thailand has that sweet smokey aroma that enhances the taste buds and enhances the taste of everything that is cooked with it . If you eat corn rice, you will understand the difference and appreciate the quality. If you are feeding the pigs and chickens or dogs then you cook the cheap rice and put some Gulley and broth for flavor.
Had a bit of a hard time following the conversation, why expensive rice was better except that it was more expensive, and therefore better. And now I need to google corn rice, I still don't know what it is. I know it's because of the language, they have a hard time making themselves understood. But putting them in front of the camera and letting them explain simple things in their own way. Is both fun and cute. in small amounts. I want a blind test of rice,
You might try turning on the closed caption/auto translate to make out what they are saying a bit better. Sometimes i have trouble with it too, but after a while you kind of get an ear for it. Hope that helps.
Ladies should do their own channel. Their giggles are from shyness but they actually do provide good info. Marcos channel benefits from them being in his videos. They could benefit from their own channel. A check from google might be a cure for shyness and giggles. Fatima displays a good sense of humor and the young niece really shows interest. She is quick to pay attention to what Marcos says. Anywho, good upload. RIP 🐓 long live 🐓
@@onekerri1 that is the thing, they can speak English. They just don’t have the incentive to. It is what it is and that is a random comment online. Just don’t see things the same way all these commenters do on this video, saying how annoying they are. They make “the show.”
Oh this is going to be interesting because one, I get to see a grocery shopping trip video. Hopefully and I want to know as well if anyone notices its the more affordable rice. Lol sneaky but great idea because I'd love to do the same here in the states to budget better. I get jasmine rice and I would be able to tell but I would get the cheaper one to save if no one else here can tell. Lol
You just reminded me. I have not had MINUTE RICE since my wife came to Canada 9 years ago. I'm buying a box tonight so I don't need to wait for the rice cooker or have wife complain because I ate "her" rice.
I budget my food like it’s a religion. Not that I have too. But it’s just the way I was brought up. I’m a Canadian, I used to love my bread and pasta! But I became gluten intolerance over the years. So now I eat rice on a daily basis. I eat 4 level packed cups of cooked rice daily. I know that 2 cups of raw rices gives me 6 cups of cooked rice. Each cup of cooked rice has roughly about 220 cal. I go through 12kg of raw rice per month. And that’s enough for 1 ☝️ grown male adult. For carb intake that is. It cost $6 dollars Canadian, which is about $4.50 USD for 2 kg of cheap basic long grain white rice. Basmati rice is my favorite. But it’s way too expensive here.
I started liking the video because it was very educational. The girls were silly and the video goes south from there. I also didn't like mother of the year throwing you under the bus saying it's not your garden and it's not your house. No respect. That's hard. No rice no happy wife
Who said bread is better than rice? Rice is good for mostly Filipinos and Asians, bread and noodles are only merienda for us Filipinos especially if those ladies are always sleeping of course, they are burning calories while asleep🙂. It is too hot here, we sweat a lot that is why we r always hungry. Maybe, the people at Fatima's village didn't know that rice can be planted at the mountain that way they will not buy always, and it is even organic then make as unpolished rice=healthy.
As I told my wife today, if I'm eating or drinking it and I'm buying it, it's not about the price. I might only have rice once a week but it's jasmine as long as I'm doing the shopping. What's 100pesos per 25 kilos after all?
Stick to the jasmine buddy and snacks remain the best "kino-I know" in the village... Simple happy wife and her family,,, happy life my friend... Lol and keep the washing machine pal... Grandma is coming to use it by the time you read this message... 😂
We only eat jasmine rice at home in the states. So much better and I order thru Amazon. But different brands of jasmine we cannot taste the difference.
I love soy sauce on rice too I don't like plain rice here in America I buy jasmine rice because I only have either jasmine or American rice and it is long rice not as tasty and corn rice needs butter and cheese and salt and pepper
They must know.. jaismen and basami rice taste so much different. My older family are from Armenia and they can tell the difference between rice when making pilaf.
Tubers say it's cheaper to live in PH. Here in Phoenix rice on Wed was $0.50/lb so about the same as PH. Eggs this week at Safeway are $2/doz, 10% less than in Manila 2 months ago. What blows my mind is here in Phoenix bananas are $0.50/lb while in PH they're $0.48-0.69/lb. Thousands of miles away from where they're grown bananas can be cheaper here than 100 yards from where they're grown in PH. Maybe public markets are cheaper? Hard to get actual prices from Tubers. They just say "it's so cheap here". My electric, all electric house, here in Phoenix, Nov-May is $22-28/mo. In summer it bumps up to $60-75/mo because of AC. The difference imo is price per kwh is less or same in the US but the building standard is much better in the US. Better insulation and door/window seals. Then there's the big one. Rent in PH is $100-400/mo and Tubers love to compare that to NYC, LA, Los Vegas. But because I can own here over the past 15 years the house I own has increased in value an average of $2000/mo. Cheaper to build in PH? $40k house plus lot but lets say lot is given to Filipina from family. Right now, today on the MLS, the house, about the same size lot and house as I see in PH, at 3508 Elm St, Cairo, IL is listed for $8900. A bigger house, better condition at 204 S Elm St, Mounds, IL is listed for $16,875. There are many houses in that area that are empty and the owners don't even bother to list but would love to get a $5-10k offer. This area is walking distance to both the Ohio and Mississippi rivers with super catfishing which as safe to eat. So all the almost free fish you want. IMO these homes and area is comparable to most of the PH. And when you add the family support required in PH if you want a Filipina the cost goes up much higher. Yeah rice isn't a lot. Renting the house next door for family visitors isn't a lot. But altogether these things add up. AND these things becomes expected, taken for granted.
I lived in Batangas maybe 5 months and I'm Mexican- American but being Mexican i like beans but had to eat rice with every meal. I was missing my beans. Almost had a shit fit over there , over my beans. Lol !!! 😖🤯😊

(At the age of 14 I taught myself to cook and outdid my mother's terrible meals, often centered around burnt baked chicken, an over-cooked baked potato and a wilted vegetable, consistently.)
Just to let you know I never had grits until, while my younger brother was attending the Univ. of South Carolina in Columbia, I was driving down to visit him and stopped in a roadside diner somewhere in North Carolina where I ordered grits with my Bacon and eggs. The waitress, with an accent so thick I could hardly tell if she was speaking English asked me, "Are you SURE [you yankee boy] want to eat them grits?!" All I could say was, "Yes, ma'me. Bring it on!"
What do grits have to do with rice?
@@Dana-ie2bh You would need at least a modicum of familiarity with the diversity of American culture and cuisine to understand. I have better things to do than try to educate the ignorant and stupid. So I won't bother.

I learned something today. The best rice is the one that most productively moves your bowels. Thank you Fatima. 😉
Look like a couple of squirrels eyeballing each others catch of nuts.😂😂😂😂
I am getting impatient with you Ladies. They like polish and soft sticky white rice.
Filipinas love to laugh and giggle 360 days a year
Until they tampo 😂
Ya once in awhile its OK. But it gets to be irritating after awhile. Marcos was trying to talk about rice and they found it a joke. He has to have alot of patience here.
Thais Vietnamese upbeat too
I love Jasmine rice, i buy Jasmine, but I don't eat it as much because it's too much carbs lol
After I got done watching im hungry for chicken and rice not gonna lie lol, good video btw.
When you bite down on a tiny stone in cheap rice! You will never make that mistake again!!!
Too true. That's why the bags of cheap rice always have instructions: "Rinse and remove foreign objects before cooking."
It's good to have a good heart and share a meal or two but not all the time they know how to fend for themselves it's like your raising your oldest child Fatima!
Always love your vlogs brother 👍
King I love the video my friend and I love the family. You are a great man, father, husband and Son-in-law. These videos really make me laugh and the faces Fatima makes with your face 😂😂 great entertainment my friend.
True, corn grits. In Cebu they call it mais and the white rice Humay. Someone told me that the corn grits will fill you up faster than the white rice.
These village girls are a riot. Yes I see the stress you are under.
I love watching y'all
Here's a little story for you, Mark.
Good day.
She cringed when I asked if she liked NFA rice, she basically said that the government rice is the left over stuff, AFTER the rice has gone through the powers that be and seem it acceptable for the minions.

We wouldn't be able to understand what they're saying. Marco would have to be there to keep them mostly speaking English.
@@onekerri1 that is the thing, they can speak English. They just don’t have the incentive to. If they had a script, had an equity stake, and a good coach, I feel they could produce some decent content. I may be being optimistic but I am a decent judge usually. It is what it is and that is a random comment online. Just don’t see things the same way all these commenters do on this video, saying how annoying they are. They make “the show.”
@@copaul71 You're right. I don't think I can sit here and watch/listen for 30 minutes of only the Great Film Maker. Got to have the family involved.
Lol
Yo every family should have a few hundred pounds of rice, and beans because of the times!
Trying to get Fatima and Kalamansi to do something is like herding cats, lol.
You just reminded me. I have not had MINUTE RICE since my wife came to Canada 9 years ago. I'm buying a box tonight so I don't need to wait for the rice cooker or have wife complain because I ate "her" rice.

Calamansi: How much is 1 kilo of garlic rice? ( pretty funny)!
Markitos you got your hands full with these two!
Nice
Seems to me that a taste test should be conducted to confirm the rice debacle.
We always mix 2kg yasmin with 3kg average rice at the rice market
I started liking the video because it was very educational. The girls were silly and the video goes south from there. I also didn't like mother of the year throwing you under the bus saying it's not your garden and it's not your house. No respect. That's hard. No rice no happy wife
Who said bread is better than rice? Rice is good for mostly Filipinos and Asians, bread and noodles are only merienda for us Filipinos especially if those ladies are always sleeping of course, they are burning calories while asleep🙂. It is too hot here, we sweat a lot that is why we r always hungry. Maybe, the people at Fatima's village didn't know that rice can be planted at the mountain that way they will not buy always, and it is even organic then make as unpolished rice=healthy.
can you make freah corn tortillas like guisados?
kalamansi said it best, the only difference between the non jasmine rice is the price
Wrong
As I told my wife today, if I'm eating or drinking it and I'm buying it, it's not about the price. I might only have rice once a week but it's jasmine as long as I'm doing the shopping. What's 100pesos per 25 kilos after all?

We only eat jasmine rice at home in the states. So much better and I order thru Amazon. But different brands of jasmine we cannot taste the difference.
I love soy sauce on rice too I don't like plain rice here in America I buy jasmine rice because I only have either jasmine or American rice and it is long rice not as tasty and corn rice needs butter and cheese and salt and pepper
jasmine in angeles is 57 to 59 and is the best. it smells different cooking. the 55 peso is OK but everything under that isnt good
My recommendation Marcos is get two kinds of rice. The CHEAP CHEAP stuff is what you give away. The good stuff you keep at the house. HAHA.
Oh yeah I like 3 Ladies Jasmine 😉😉
Is corn rice basically what we call grits? I'm curious...
our rice per kilo is 62 jaguar rice
How much is Tilda basmati rice in Philippines. I know the difference between long grain, Jasmine and basmati
What if u buy a container to put your rice in ? Big size put it in there .
I remember back in the day being told that grits were eaten by poor filipinos when they had no rice.
Lol !!! 😖🤯😊

Rice is rice to me until im eatting Indian curry. Lol the rice those guys using at restaurants definitely taste different. Good though!
