    I love the tractor shot and I think you're off to a great start. Let's hope the next 16 days go just as smooth.
    I've been carrying the 6x7 with a 55, 135 and 200 plus a tripod for days on no problem. The trick is to get a proper hiking backpack and a camera insert, instead of any of those photography bags which are designed to make the camera comfortable, not the one carrying it.

      Thanks for the tip. I'll be honest I've never been a fan of backpacks. But maybe I should suck it up at some point.

    The idea of using the salad spinner is to spin the reel so centrifugal force will draw beaded water down and off the film. Therefore the reel goes in the spinner sideways so water runs down the film and out/off the bottom (or top) of the reel toward the side of the spinner. Nice images and classic Velvia color cast.

    • @AzrielKnight
      @AzrielKnight  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the suggestion and I don't think the reel will stay on its side. The drops must also go up/down and out as well because they come out practically dry.

    The last time I shot E6 was 18 years ago.
    I was asked by a Christian friend of mine to do a portrait shoot of him and his dog for his book cover. I thought about film stock for it and settled for Fujichrome Astia for skin tones, I knew about the characteristics of Provia and Velvia but Fuji in their literature were saying Astia 100 so I bought a box of 5 rolls of 120.
    It had been my 40th birthday and I was given a fabulous camera a Bronica S2A outfit comprising of the camera itself with a 80mm f2.4 and one spare back. I had also bought a Gossen Lunasix 3 The photographs shot wide open should never have been in focus because untoward to me I later found out through reading a photographic magazine that back in the 70's when these cameras first came out they got bad reviews. It turned out that the focusing screens were held in place by an organic glue and while the cameras sat on the shelves of the camera shops the glue would disintegrate and of course there was a focus shift in the viewfinder that didn't correspond to the film plane. No wonder there were bad reviews!
    Amazingly my camera had the very same problem but it must have been by an act of God my images were tack sharp. Incidentally.
    The first shot I took out of the five rolls of film in all the locations was used for the book cover and the posters used for the advertising. Fujifilm a great choice!

      @@AzrielKnight Just fine, my man, just fine. E-6 is no where near as delicate a process as some suggest. Where that not the case, they'd never get by with compressing the 6 bath E-6 process down to DIY 3-bath kits. Your exposures look dead on the nose.

    • @cameraman655
      @cameraman655 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, Velvia is a tricky film to master. By the late 80s, I began to migrate away from Kodak when they began lengthening the processing time of Kodachrome. I began playing around with Velvia for my travel and landscape work, once I got comfortable with the ”punchy, saturated nature of the film, it soon became one of my favourite Fuji films, along with Provia. That said, Velvia is definitely NOT a film that one would choose for portrait or overall ”people” shots. Landscapes, seascapes, etc, is where this film is at home.

    Great pictures Azriel! Love them all. I am shooting now 4x5 and have not tried Velvia 100. I have used Provia 100F another slide film version and love its looks in general. I am mainly using it for night long exposures and is a great experience. With Provia 100F reciprocity failure starts with exposures over 4 minutes long. I wonder what is the difference between Velvia 100 slide vs. Provia 100F??.
    I am no expert developing with E6 chemicals and what I do not like of it is that the first developer time should be increased 15 seconds each time you develop 2 rolls.
    I am looking forward to see the coming videos of this film marathon.
