Local Search and the “Map Pack” and the Google Business Profile

Local SEO broadly refers to the practice of ranking for searches with "local intent". Think of things like "coffee near me" or "coolest dog groomer in Greensboro, North Carolina". Searches with local intent trigger something called the Map Pack (aka Local 3 Pack) to show on the Google SERP. In fact, this happens 93% of the time in response to a search with local intent.
The Local Pack gets about half of all clicks on the SERP and can be hugely effective in driving clicks and conversions from local customers. Getting these results all comes down to using the Google Business Profile (formerly called Google My Business) properly.
