    Yes, Matera has about 60.000 inhabitants and it's the oldest city in Europe and third in the world. It was founded around 8.000 bc.
    People live in trulli, but they are small and Alberobello is quite touristic so there they use them as shops or they rent them for tourists, but there are more in the region.
    If you like old buildings and stuff you need to visit Roma. In the city centre alone there are more then 25.000 ancient sites (UNESCO count them as just one big UNESCO site of 1430 hectares) and more monuments then south and north america combined. For Unesco in Italy there is from 65 to 75% of all the historical/cultural heritage of the entire world (that mean that we have 2 or 3 time what there is in the rest of the world combined).

      This is a very European view on the World.
      Ever heard of China or India?
      I guess their cultural sites, ancient buildings and temples are as abundant and old as the ones in the Roman Empire were.
      Japan is also ancient. There are sites dating back ten thousand years.
      ....and I would assume that Bali, Bhutan and Nepal have more temples than any other country on the planet.
      Especially Bali, where every single home has its own temples. Yes, plural, no typo.

    • @alessandromancuso7242

      @@Kivas_Fajo In Italy there are 20 entire cities that are COMPLETLY Unesco sites, all the cities, not just the centre (like Venezia for example). In Napoli there are more then 400 monumental churces just in the historic centre and in Roma there are more then 25.000 cultural sites just in the centre (inside the ancient walls) and a lot more oustide.
      Then there is Firenze, birthplace of the Reinassance, a city so full of art that the Stendhal syndrome (observed for the first time in Italy) is also known as Firenze Syndrome.
      Try to compare, for example, Milano's Duomo with a temple inside a Bali's house... Are you serious? Whit that logic i can say that in my apartment alone there are 44 paintigs so 44 work of art...
      China has destroyed much of its historical heritage during Mao's and today's regime. Japan is rich in history but not so much in monuments.
      Your "guess" are completly wrong.

    • @Kivas_Fajo

      @@alessandromancuso7242 In India, there are approximately 649.000 temples. And this is only temples, not mentioning all the other sites like palaces and entire ancient cities.
      Come down the high horse, bro. You look like a pretentious fool.

    Being Italian, I will clarify your doubt. Yes... All these places are inhabited. The trulli are still inhabited today, although many have been transformed into some type of tourist activity. Regarding the caves of the Sassi Di Matera, more or less the same applies: they were all inhabited until the beginning of the 20th century, then they were gradually abandoned in favor of more modern and normal homes and only the poorest families remained there. But then tourism stopped the gradual abandonment and almost all of them are hotels or B&Bs... there are few real homes now.

    Well, about Alberobello, the "trulli" were really used as normal houses. Why they are so done? Because a fiscal problem. In past centuries the owners of this area were sending people to get taxes paid by farmers and workers living there. Taxes were not asked if the building was not ready yet, that is without roof. If you go inside a trullo you will see there is a special stone at the base of the roof. Taking this stone away, all the roof was falling down, so taxes for another year or more were not paid and money saved!! About Matera, the "Sassi" are in fact excavated caverns inside the mountain. The walls making them similar to houses are in fact only the entrance of the caverns where families and even domestic animals were living all together. This because Matera is in the South of Italy were in Summer temperatures could be very high. Inside caverns temperature is more or less she same during all the year, but in summertime the entrance had to be protected for not letting the temperature to raise more than usually.
    Thanks for being interested in my wonderful country and have a good time.

    The whole planet is beautiful, wonderful, rich beyond every immagination. Unique.
    But in order to live better, we should give up on our pretentions of nations, classes, ethnic groups, religions etc and work togheter to turn this world into a real paradise where all can live in peace and happy. Humans are all brothers and sisters. We should love each others.
    Only in this way we can succeed.

    Sadly, Castelluccio village (#10) doesn't exist anymore, due to an earthquake that completely destroyed it, as many other near highly historical locations.
    😢
    The only beautiful things that the earthquake couldn't destroy are the flowers.
    Please, notice that at 11:32 there is a map if Italy on the left side of the mountain, made with trees, 50 years ago! 😉
    P.s.
    The reason of the peculiar shape of the houses in Alberobello is the TAXES that the nobleman owners of the land asked for each house that had a roof.
    So, the inhabitants of the village, 250 years ago, started to build houses with stone dome-roof with no concrete, that could be easily dismantled in case of property taxes requests, and rebuilt in more quiet moments...😂

    • @vanessarubinidellarovere

    For sure here, like almost everywhere, there are stunning places to see, but life there isn't as stunning.
    No one in the video says to you what's the struggle of living in a small city in which home rents are skyrocketing, or the fact that Castelluccio di Norcia is dying because there's a lack of funds after the 2016 earthquake, who destroyed the majority of buildings.
