    Hey Gordon, I currently have an AT&T Unlimited Starter plan that includes 5G, unlimited data, talk, and text. If i were to stick my AT&T sim card into the Netgear Nighthawk M1, would it work as a hotspot router and will there be throttling? Thanks mate.

    The only thing which I am afraid is the mobile network specification or limitation. In practice

    The LAN port is input, intended for connecting to hotel LAN to provide an access point, unless I am mistaken. Thus, the gigabit switch you mention is irrelevant?

    Great video! A few questions though... can we use a T-Mobile SIM card to operate it? What does it mean when it says “26 days left”? And what happens when we us all of the GB? Do we really use up all of our data?

    • @WhatWouldGordonDo
      @WhatWouldGordonDo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you buy an unlocked version of this then yes you should be able to use any sim in it
      The 26 days left is set up in the app, its the day that your data is reset and the 26 days left means you have 26 days till your reset day
      I have no idea what happens if you use all of your data up as I'm on unlimited data sorry

Its the second one too. I returned the first one thinking it was defective but the second one does the same thing.

    Thanks for the video, seems a great device but as a single person on my own is there any point if I was to get mobile broadband to actually get this device, as this seems to be for heavy use, there are others on the market a lot cheaper? Or would you think the quality of this is worth it anyway ?
    For single use I can watch and stream HD movies at fairly low speeds for example from just a hotspot on my phone, but sometimes it can be a little unreliable, so looking for a router that will bump it up a bit, what would you suggest ?
    Thanks

    • @WhatWouldGordonDo
      @WhatWouldGordonDo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Like I said in the video, I got this unit because it has an ethernet port so it suited me, we buy tech that suits our needs so if you don't need something with an ethernet port then there are alot more cheaper options but I am a normal person not a tech reviewer so I am not in a position to give advice other than on a product I own and use sorry

      Will this router work with any SIM card ?
      I’ve just had a conversation with three and they said that there is a difference between ‘data sim’ - which are more expensive and are used for routers and iPads etc and ‘normal sim’ which is the ones you put in your phone. I am led to believe that they would both work, though but the data SIM cards are just practically a scam.

      Thanks 👍 so phone Sims should work for the main reason the device is used for i.e to provide mobile broadband.
      If I buy a phone sim unlimited data I'm not bothering about phone calls etc I just want to use it for the mobile broadband.
      I ask as so called 'data sims' seen to be more expensive but they do less.
      Just calling them data Sims they are exploiting a situation.

    I have one of these and was using it until early this yr. I had 16 devices connected to it and it got real slow. In the beginning it was really fast (AT&T hotspot) but the more I connected to it (16 devices) the slower it got. I kept losing service. It would disconnect LOTS of times during my internet access. Like I would lose connection 6-10 times a day. Got so frustrating. I'm now with Tmobile (hotspot) and it is a slower service but I don't lose connection. It might buffer a couple times if I'm watching a video online but only last a couple seconds. So moral of the story. Faster with ATT but lose connection LOTS. Tmobile slower but don't lose connection
