Love the fact you are human. If you aren't having an "incident" now and again you aren't flying on the edge! The best advice I ever got was "it was like it when I found it and was just on my way to tell someone about it".
So good to see it back in the air. You made the repair look easy. Actually now that I think on it, it may be easier working on big planes vs small ones. Kind hard to get your hands inside the fuel compartments of the 40-60 size. Love the Lazer. Edited for spelling.
aha😂 love the grumpy face! I'm always scared I'm gonna forget about everything and somehow end up changing mid maneuver when I'm in the moment! I feel like I could easily fall victim of that! Great video Martin!👌🏼👍🏼
Huge engine! 😳. 2 decades ago, electric and gas engines for flying was really a new thing. The best flyers at my local field, 1 especially (who had a lotta money, & a close friend & co-worker of mine), used the DA engines. Those weren't cheap then. I can only imagine now! Another great video sir! 👍
your rc channel is the best on youtube! your comments to what happens are awesome,,everybody can understand it 🙂 (also i fly in mode2 like you,,and i see 3d is possible)
Great job! Really missed seeing you fly at Weston Park this year thanks to the current situation. Hoping for next year now! Glad to see you got her repaired.
hehe About 1980 +- a year or so, I was flying. I did a steep dive with the intent of pulling out and doing a low, fast pass down the runway. But I did not pull up in time. The airplane scraped the pavement on the entry way, the metal landing gear went sliding along the ground, the engine stopped, and the airplane bounced about 25 ft into the air. (Tail dragger style plane.) "Well, it seems to be flying," so I did a 360 to loose enough altitude and slid her onto our grass strip. Damage? Broke the screws holding the metal landing gear, broke the prop, and put a couple scratches on the bottom. Some screws, a prop and a little 5 minute epoxy to seal up the scratches and she was back in the air within an hour. It had a .40 glow engine. I guess they call that "nitro" these days.
Wow it Looks like new again! Amazing skills I'm building one of these Laser 103 right now, Do you think that a DLE111 should have enough power for 3D flying on this plane? Thank's
Thanks mate! Yeah, thats all we used to use in the heavier models a few years ago, will be fine, just not the absolute insanity that we get now from the 123cc
I did that to my Goldwing Pitts M-12, and wish it was that easy to repair!!!! The box where the gear was broke in half and I'm having to take the whole front half apart to fix it......
I love repairing my foamies. I have a small 50mm edf f16 belly lander that flies about 90 mph on 4s. Occasionally ill come in too hot for a landing and something like the anti-missile rails on the wings or the nose cone will break off, the bottom gets torn up, or something like that. A bit of glue, some lightweight spackle, a bit of finish sanding and some paint, and you cant tell anything ever broke. Funny to watch people who dont know about rc planes see the plane that was in 3 pieces looking as tho nothing ever happened to it. (Note: that f16 is like 100 bucks for a pnp kit when i got it, i wouldnt be so excited about repairing my eflite 70mm f16 lol)
Hey Martin. Thx for your help with tips training the snake, i'm getting closer every day :) I use DA and DLE engines, can you tell a little about your experience with GP 123? Thx Max.
@@MartinPickering-PickeringRC I'm also very ecsightet , only flew them few times, but it was like meeting an old friend, after a few minutes i had the feeling with it. Nice repair! Looks good again your laser ;-) I would recommend you using at least some nitrile gloves while working with epoxy. Epoxy is neurotoxin and should not be underestimated

Haha, love the new grumpy face. Though with the shape of the cowl, it sometimes still looks like it’s smiling. It’s good to see that even the best still make mistakes. Though it doesn’t stop mu fear of flying some models because they’re too nice to smash, for me anyway. Looking forward to seeing the Slick build.
Martin, it wasn’t pilot error. Was a Spektrum radio brownout. You had nothing to do with it. I do know you use Core gear, but someone somewhere was using a DX9 🤣🤣🤣 I can say that because I’m JR/Spektrum guy for more than 20 years now so it’s all good 🤪
I would really look at the construction above the gear, it usually cracks the glue /epoxy and is very difficult to see. Put some pressure and twist the sides slightly to be sure. Some of the rear cross basing could be cracked at the super glue joints too. Been there... If you're not breaking things your not really flying lol.
Sir Martin...Bloody opposed to hours of epoxy, parts, reconstruction, and on...we see that maneuvering as a liability...not so in performing full size aircraft maneuvering and clearly much more so...thus we fly them as models, albeit realistically, and much more often...(almost comparative to control line/RC 'combat'destruction)...life can be really short...spend our time well..Cheers! Chap🇺🇸🇬🇧😎👍
So I had a dead stick on my maiden of my pilot laser 73” went inverted low and it died (should have bought gp!! Not dle LOL) couldn’t make the runway so she went into some trees. The noise was horrifying. Walked to go get it. Thought I would find it in toothpicks. There she was suspended in shrubs 4 feet off the ground. NOT A SCRATCH ON IT!! so lucky
Put it on floats and fly off water, it's MUCH softer (usually) even tail touches do nothing to the covering but wet it a little......it would give you a whole new realm of possibilities too, you could be the FIRST to do the submarine pull out, sink it and fly out from 2 foot underwater....that will test the vertability of your GP123, if it can lift the airframe and 10lbs of water, it's a good engine.....😜
Assuming that really was the remaiden after the crash, it shows your professionalism and experience that you were able to go straight back into risky technical maneuvers after a crash. It takes me a while to get rid of the flinch
You're doing a great job will all of he how-to stuff and a lot of people will be copying you. So PLEASE use gloves next time you are working with epoxy. You will get allergy for it some day (yes, absolutely everybody gets it some day if they work with it- sometimes after one plane, sometimes after 100 planes, sometimes after 1000-you actually never know when this will happen to you).

I must say that held up astoundingly well to that hit.
They make them stronger than we think!
Hi Martin, Which propeller are you using? brand ?
My preference is Falcon, 27*11
Hats off to Pilot for their design strength. Would have thought the plane would be destroyed by that hit.
Exactly what I did with my foam ultimate 3d the other day. Second time now, the aluminum landing gear is getting very warped!

GP123cc

New cowl when finding out who pilot is "OMG!"
Proof that you can make a brick fly if you put a big enough engine on it.
All exposed wood in the engine compartment (especially the firewall) needs to be either doped or epoxied.
Awesome 👍
