I LOVE it and I want more of it... I hope the next Paper Mario iterations continue to do this kind of music. Extreme heavy style, mixed with banging joyful music, jazz and Dubstep / Techno... It's just SUCH a good OST
This honestly makes me want a boss rush mode or a way to replay the bosses after beating the game. The only thing is you won't get star points for beating them, it would purely be a challenge run kinda thing, like The Arena from Kirby. Another idea is the practice battle section found in Mother 3's enemy log, except you actually get to defeat them rather than fighting a practice dummy for eternity until you decide to quit. Another idea is to tweak whatever level or badges you have before the fight to give yourself something to challenge yourself with.
Yeah It's kind of sad they didn't include something like a boss rush or another way to replay those bosses.... Missed opportunity to include another "boss pipe" in the new warp pipe room
It’s been interesting hearing people’s thoughts on which are upgrades and downgrades, and it has revealed some interesting tidbits. For some, everything is an upgrade. Others think one song is a downgrade whilst another group thinks the same song is an upgrade. I think it all depends on what your favourite part of a tune is. If that particular part is missing, it will feel wrong. But to people who weren’t so attached to that specific part, they don’t see it as a loss. Case in point, one of the most consistent things I’ve heard is the sad loss of the bongos in Cortez’s theme. To some, it might be THE most important part of the song. But I wasn’t overly aware that the song even had them to begin with, so to me, it’s an upgrade. Vice versa, there are some songs where my favourite touches are completely absent. But to others it’s not as important to them, so they don’t feel like it’s a downgrade. It’s fascinating to hear how so many can love a piece of music but for completely different reasons. Remaking such a soundtrack will never be able to please everyone. But I think overall, they did wonders with this stuff. And it’s just interesting to think how we all have different tastes
I genuinely wasn't much of a fan of Doopliss' theme up until hearing the second phase in the remake, I'm so pleased with what they've done with every single song in the OST!!
Tbh I never thought of Blooper as a chapter boss, but he does show up at the very end of the Prologue, before chapter 1 starts, and he is required to be beaten to progress. Still feels weird to consider Blooper as a boss though.
Prologue (Blooper): Oriental market Ch. 1 (Hooktail): Murderer is chasing you Ch. 2 (Magnus von Grapple): Fighting an enemy 1000 times your size Ch. 3 (Macho Grubba): Spooky Scary ~Skeletons~ Rock Star Ch. 4 (Doo_liss): The organ player went mad Ch. 5 (Cortez): idk what to put here Ch. 6 (Smorg): WE GET IT, INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS! YOU DEVELOPED THIS GAME! Ch. 7 (MvG 2.0): Mario ate the magic-a mushrooms 😵💫 Ch. 8 (Grodus): They took Mario to the hospital Ch. 8 (Shadow Queen): The world is ending
Macho Grubba, since it sounds way more villainous. Grodus and Magnus Von Grapple are close behind. For the latter two, it's because they actually sound good.

From "least" favorite to favorite. I...definitely changed on some of these, it was like, 3 AM when I did this...: 11. Hooktail. It's a first boss theme, and those usually end up being the weakest ones to me (it's also my least favorite of the Three Dragons), but that's okay. For a game as staked in its ost as TTYDR, I don't mean that at all as an insult. 10. Blooper. Event Battle is such a catchy jam and I do enjoy it over Hooktail's theme. 9. Cortez. I think this one sounds ever so slightly weaker than its og counterpart, but the new addition manages to cancel that out for me. Even still, I'd probably still place it here. 8. Macho Grubba. I like just how...kinda gross it sounds, but it still manages to pump you up for a fight? Definitely fits for a character as despicable as Grubba, but it still managing to get you ready to rumble perfectly fits The Glitz Pit. 7. Grodus. Similar to what I said about Grubba, but electronical. Compared to Crump/Maguns Von Grapple's more silly themes, this one lacks absolutely any of that. Perfect for someone as no nonsense as Grodus. 6. Doopliss (1). Still just as great and the new addition really adds to the trollish edge this theme gives off. 5. Doopliss (2). Basically the same as one, but the new part sounds even better in this version. 4. Magnus Von Grapple. Damn, I really undersold this one... I liked the original theme just fine, but this version blows it out of the water! The new addition is what really pushes it here, I always hum along to it... 3. Smorgs. Ahh, it still sounds like a train! For such cute (creepy) little guys, their theme manages to be slightly silly, but overall menacing. And oh my gosh, I'm in love with the new part! 2. Magnus Von Grapple 2.0. The "new and improved" model absolutely deserved its own variant for the final bout with Crump, and it absolutely delievered. It's super fun! 1. Shadow Queen 1/2. I couldn't pick between the two, so I put them both at the top. Absolutely amazing final boss themes, and the new parts added elevate it even more for me!
I don’t really hear a difference between the 2 Doopliss themes. Also, I wouldn’t call Grodus a chapter boss, because he’s not the last one of the chapter. You don’t even fight Shadow Queen right after. Speaking of her, she has another theme when she becomes invincible and eats the audience to heal.
First of all: I also don't REALLY hear a difference though there are definitely some SMALL changes. Secondly: Yeah I forgot the Queen's "Mid-Theme" but I wanted to put in Grodus since the player THINKS that he is going to be the Chapter Boss. I mean... There is literally NO CLUE AT ALL of there being a final boss. But yeah. It's hard to put those themes in context to one another. Cuz' there are many people having many different opinions. I already uploaded this medley again cuz' someone told me to put it that way - and yeah I agreed with them
