hello Simon! Due to my illness I can hardly leave the house! You probably won't read this message! But I want to say a big thank you for your videos! I'm Portuguese, 44 years old, a widower with 3 children and I'm on daily dialysis because I'm waiting for a kidney transplant! With your videos I can travel! I can smell nature! With your videos I can hope that tomorrow will be better! THANK YOU SIMON
Simon is that bloke you meet on holiday when you don't want to socialise with others but becomes a life-long friend. Love your videos and adventures. Happy New year
When I saw the title "Overnight Forest Camp in a Hot Tent" and then saw you walking with your pack, I never expected for you to have a stove in your pack. Great camp!
I'm going through a rough patch, was diagnosed with ADHD at 41, was quite overwhelming as a father and a sole bread earner to grasp this and the unpredictable work and personal life ahead, grabbing on to the bits, and Simon you give me hope, to persevere and overcome, God bless you.
Happy belated new year, Simon. May yours be filled with laughter, adventure, sausages, abundant beer and joy! Thank you for taking me to the woods again...
Happy New Year, and keep getting better! My best to Mrs Woods as well! This was a nice relaxed outing, and I hope to do the same thing soon, same tent even! Hard to find Black Pudding here, but some of our British or Irish restaurants do serve it. Love it with baked beans and eggs! Hope this is a good year for you all, and the woods await!
Again, a beautiful presentation. Your low light shots are amazing. You have the ability to tell a good story and illustrate it so that the visual and audio are better than being there. Good job!
Fascinating to watch, as usual. Interesting to watch the de-camping process. I rarely leave my sofa but I know how to light a fire, pitch a tent (multiple sorts), gather (and split) wood, cook a steak (well, almost), make breakfast and, principally, I know how to open a can of beer - or two. Love your videos. Thank you.
Strange watching you guys camping without a sealed up tent inner. Here in Australia you would likely end up spending the evening with critters that can kill you by looking sideways at you. Good to see you back out and about and glad that you're feeling a bit better. Nearly all our family and friends have had that same thing recently. Thanks for the video.
Thats why at 68, and traveled the world, I've never volunteered for Australia! I want to go for a month or so, but I'm sure I'd get bit, stung to death. We are always given safety talks before we go, but never do they rate the wildlife deadlier than human population! Except Australia..😆😁😄
@@stuartbrierley3381 - You don't get critters sometimes? Like raccoons, or rabbits? Those are critters..Deer wandering around your camp are also considered a "critter", but Bear tearing thru looking for food are not "critters". Camp wisely!

Yey 😃😃😃😃 back out !!!! I’ve had a hard day graft today so was absolutely overjoyed to see your tranquil come down video from my sofa in front of my open fire. Loved it Simon, thank you for taking us with you. Just what the doc ordered on a Friday evening 🥰🥰🥰. Oooo canoe trip 👏👏👏 can’t wait 😆
Glad you're on the mend, and I hope your wife starts to feel better soon! One Christmas several years ago, when my children were very young, I had a terrible dose of the flu. All I could do was like down as still as possible. Christmas basically ground to a halt that year because I was the kingpin that made everything happen. I felt so sorry for my boys that year!
@@simonablokeinthewoods it was! Boxing day they went off to the in-laws, leaving me lying on the sofa with a jug of water. They came home the next day and I was still in the same place. I could just about make it to the loo every now and then 😂
I was so happy to see this pop up in my notifications today. I so needed to see something so peaceful and relaxing this afternoon while I was stuck inside at my computer. I always enjoy your videos. Sorry to hear ya'll were sick during Christmas. Hope ya'll get back to top speed quickly! Thank you for all your hard work last year, sharing your adventures with us. So looking forward to your new adventures this year. Take care, rest all you can and take care of yourself! 👍👍🧡🧡😊😊
We were the same Simon. I got a terrible flu before Christmas, and as I started to get better, around the 20th, my wife got sick. We cancelled our Christmas dinner at our friends, and we're both still recovering. Good to see you back and yes, dinner looked good! Mike from Canada.
@@simonablokeinthewoods We are. I'm just on my way to get the left leg removed, 11:45 am. Once I'm healed I will be able to embrace the woods again mate! Cheers to you and yours!

Brrroooo! That food looked amazing and that beer is right up my street! Looks like I'll have to stock up for a future camp ha. I need to get myself a hot tent for later this year! Need to take the plunge into my wallet ha. ✌️⛺️
Cracking video Simon thanks for that. Thanks for the chopped up black pudding and tinned tomatoes food idea as well, you can't beat a bit of black pudding 👍🏻
Happy New Year, Simon. Wishing you and your family the very best in 2023. Sending special best wishes to Mrs. In The Woods as she recovers from illness. I hope that she is feeling much better now.
Watching this 8 months after you filmed it. I was ill too at that time and it lasted for quite a while so I send my best wishes to you and your family. Illness at Christmas and NY always feels worse. I love watching your adventures and share your love of woods and the peace they emanate. Wonderfully grounding. Thanks for all you do, it's much appreciated by many.
My grandmother love Black Pudding but made me gag...lol. Mind you, she's old school 1918 Irish born & eat some freaky stuff like Dripping Sandwich, Tripe, Bone Marrow & Fish Eyes.
Happy New Year Simon!! Your meal looked wonderful. You, Andy and a few others prove that camp food doesn't have to be a can of beans a some bread. which is great if that's what one wants! But really it 's all about how much effort one wants to put into a meal. Thanks for sharing your overnight adventure with us!! Can't wait to see your canoe trip in a couple of weeks! I love those adventures! Stay safe, warm and healthy!
Beautifully executed, great to see you out n about again, glad that your over the dreaded Covid, but hope mrs bloke in the woods recovers soon as well. Great little tent stove there simon. Looking forward to the canoe trip👍🏻🛶
Another great video thanks Simon. I got back into camping as an adult a couple of years a go to take my son and make some memories. Amazes me that when we do a night or two on a camp site we fill a small van with gear. You create a great camp including a hot tent stove and fill a rucksack 😂
Another great video Simon, I feel your pain with being ill over Christmas. My wife and myself had the same problem which rather put a dampener on things. As you say “that’s life”. Looking forward to the next video.
Lovely to visit the woodlands of the UK again with you. We had a Christmas and New Year's very like yours and Mrs. Woodlands. Except my brother had concussion. Hope she's better soon.
Happy New Year Simon. I hope your wife gets better soon. I'm glad you mentioned the Imperial Stout as it reminded me I've got a bottle of Black Sheep Imperial Russian Stout begging to be opened. 🙂
Very entertaining again. English cooking. I think you have to grow up with it. I am always amazed how many items you manage to take with you. Have a good year.
Great to see you out in the woodland! Glad to hear your on the mend, hope your wife has a solid recovery. Great camp with delicious looking food!! Thanks for sharing!
