I used to spend the summers with my grand parents at their home in studio city during the 1980s. Good memories.

Studio City was my stomping ground (since my kids went to school there) and I never knew anything about The Radford Art Walk. I’ll have to go check it out. Thanks so much!

In a word -- Interesting. Reminds me of a pronouncement from my Jr. High art teacher: "Art is what everything else isn't."

Great works of art. His legacy lives on. Might have to make it a special trip to take in the viewscapes. Love how each piece presents a deeper meaning.

That was fun and interesting. Thanks for talking about each of the art installations. I 'd love to visit. Incidentally, one of the pieces entitled "Silent Spring" could be a throwback to the Rachel Carson's book by the same name, published in the 60's. She was an environmental activist and was particularly involved in limiting the use of dangerous pesticides. Thanks for the journey through the Hidden Art Walk.

I live in Studio City, in Foot Bridge square, as the real estate agents like to call it. We moved here in 1987 and Karl Johnson was my neighbor. His whole front yard was a wonderful statue garden. I remember as a kid stopping to sit on a concrete sculpted bench and admire his yard. His art was a hidden gem of the neighborhood and part of my childhood. Sadly, when he died they ripped the whole place up. Trashing all his art and throwing it in a dumpster. Only to build a Mini Mansion in it's place! I am not ashamed to say some of those works, might have made their way out of that dumpster and in to my home. Even if sadly, much of it was in pieces by then. Some years ago, I heard that part of his art was saved by the studio. I am embarrassed to admit I never followed the story beyond that and had no idea this gem even existed, in my own backyard! Thank you, for reminding me. I will take a stroll down Radford very soon.

Hello! I was devastated to hear that they destroyed much of his art. Karl was a huge part of my life and he is why I am the artist I am today. I am glad to hear that you were able to save some of his work. Thank you for preserving his memory!

Great video. You might also consider doing(if you haven't already) video on the Brewery Artwalk, April 9-10 this year. That's an abandoned factory in highland park(north/east DTLA area) that has become a converted loft community for over a hundred visual artist residents(no musicians) since the 80's. They open up their homes for a free art show twice a year. Millions of drivers on the 5 frwy pass by this vintage building with the smokestack every day and they don't even know.
