NEW YEAR'S DAY classic car meet! Classic British cars, sports cars, scooters and more!

- The New Year's Day car meet at the Black Swan offered a fantastic range of classic cars and sports cars from the 1940s to the present day, some of my favourites including an Austin A40 Somerset, Chevrolet Corvair Corsa, Daimler SP250 and more from vintage trucks to a rare MAN tractor to a plethora of Lambretta scooters!
In this video expect a full review of all the classic car related goings on at this 2024 car meet, and a few cars leaving the meet later on.

Great video Harley. What a varied selection of vehicles there - something for everyone. Years ago, a friend of mine had a Hillman Imp Van version. It was a great 'load carrier' but he kept a bag of sand in the front boot space to help with stability. Nice to see the Hillman Hunter too - very rare these days. Hi Harley 👋 I'm viewing this late. I loved the Daimler Dart. The Mods arrived on their Vespa and Lambretta scooters. You might have been a Mod Harley back in 1964. I can imagine you in a green parka coat and desert boots riding along the road on your scooter. Hillman Hunters and Avengers sold very well here in New Zealand in the 1970s. A friend of mine had a Hunter in a chocolate brown colour , and got about in it back in the 1970s. I like bagels to eat too, I first tried them in America back in the 1980s. Yummy. Good display . My first motor vehicle was a 50cc Vespa scooter and my first car was a 1968 2 door Vauxhall Viva HB. A very reliable car that took me all over New Zealand. It was so cool seeing both vehicles represented in today's video. I hadn't seen a Daimler Dart before but that was my car of the day. Not only did it look great but that magical burble as it drove down the road was just lovely lol. Oh, and should I mention our 30C+ temperatures? It's currently 9:45pm and it's still 26C!!

You are right the Hillman Imp Huskey was the estate... I think! My favourite cars at the meet were the Daimler Dart, Chevrolet Covair, A40 Summerset and the white Vauxhall Viva we glimpsed. Ooo the king of the road lamps on that Austin... nice in the winter sun. Looking forward to your promised exciting classic car content planned for 2024! 😃

I thought M A N made trucks,, buses, diesel engines, and was also involved with marine engineering, and belongs to Volkswagen........
@@richardsealey3626 that's right, my family have a demolition company, and back in the day they have m.a.n. diesel, big dumptrucks with a big nose, as a child I ride with them next to the driver.

The A40 Somerset was my favourite too - good to see the younger generation agreeing with an old codger!
I always like following by your videos and your dads. I’m in my mid seventies and my wife and I bought a 1967 Hillman Imp in 1971. Lovely little car and drove really nice. Engine was a bit of a pain I recall! Adjusting the tappets took hours as you had to measure the gaps and then buy shims to slide in to get the correct gap!
