    When I first got contacts I didn’t realize that people could see individual leaves on trees and like individual blades of grass because my whole life I just saw a big green blob

      It's worse when you're like "WTF?!? I used to be able to see that stuff at that distance, what happened? 😭"

    • @d-meth
      @d-meth 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@brodieroomojo yeah it's so messed up to have those "weird" vision issues
      Like when you can't use contacts because your glasses (or lenses) just "stop working" after a few hours because your eyes are fine but you just mess them up or "use them wrong" =/
      And your dad wasn't listening to the eye doctor when you were 12 and the dr said you NEED vision therapy or you'll mess up your eyes =/
      Dad thought that when you have issues with your eyes you get glasses, like he did so he stopped listening the moment the doc said "your kid doesn't need glasses but..." 😕😡😩😖
      Guess what?
      Vision therapy doesn't work on adults, even eay 20s young adults. But they'll happily sell you a few sessions that "might provide a benefit", they cost $200/h and come in packages of 10, you need at least 20.

    I've been wearing glasses scine I was only 2 months old. I have a pretty bad case of Amblyopia. I'm legally blind in my left eye. I do have depth perception but it's not good. I'm always walking into walls cause I don't see them where they actually are. When I reach for something like my glass of water I actually move my hand close and then feel for it with my fingers and once then pick it up. I've reached for things before and missed. I can't see very far away. At the age of 36 my eyesight is decreasing. It's harder for me to read print. I just had to buy myself a new bible with giant print. I don't see well at night anymore.
    But some things I think are just beautiful to see...
    The Ocean/Beaches.
    The sunrise over the ocean.
    Okay just nature in general.

    I love looking at large bodies of water like lakes. When the water is still, it is reflective and you can see a perfect replica of the far shore beneath it and upside down. It's especially beautiful at night when you see a full moon in the sky and a second full moon reflected in the water. Watching ripples moving through water is also fun and interesting, as is seeing the wind blowing the surface of the water causing it to move and shimmer in different ways. Lake water is usually a somewhat ugly brown color while ocean water is usually a dark blue in most places, but in some areas it's very light blue and clear enough that you can see dozens of feet down and see the corals and sea shells and all sorts of fun things beneath.

I don’t remember ever being able to see crisp sharp lines before then. I kept on just taking my glasses on and off, but I could never replicate the amazement of seeing defined lines for the first time! Then I got sick for the rest of the weekend because my eyes were trying to adjust.

    Also, when I'm at work I often have to write down the weather conditions including how far you can see. It's got to be a pretty bad day when seeing distance is below 8km. I'm so impressed when blind people manage to navigate the world. It really blows my mind how much you can do without sight. Yeah, most of these things you don't focus on get to this sort of subliminal level of your mind. You can quite easily compare that to background noise or listening to something vs. just being able to hear something. For example, you are on the phone with someone and technically you can hear other things like children playing in the backyard or cars passing by but unless it's something alarming you aren't listening to this, you're listening to the person you're having a conversation with.

    Rainbows in the sky are to me the most aesthetically pleasing part of seeing. It's rare, it's hard to see them, most are super faint and so there's this moment of searching for a rainbow after the storm and even while looking at it, wondering if it's actually there because it fades in and out. So many colors all at once, but it's almost impossible to describe each - and they can also change shades and intensity in almost a blink!

    People smiling- it's so nice to see the crinkles in someone's eyes when they're genuinely happy and smiling.
    Flowers, like molly said- the individual colours and petals are just, wow.
    Hair- having individual hairs is so crazy to me because we never really say 'oh your head hairs look nice today, what did you do with them?'
    Animals- just how different each animal is. Skeletons, fur, feathers eyes. They're all unique to the species.
    People- just how different everyone is and-
    Eyes- the feeling of staring into someone's eyes, even if it's just a stranger you saw on the bus that day, is so weird. Like the amount of detail in the eyes and watching pupils dialate, seeing the colours of the iris is so mysterious to me. Eyes are the window to the soul.
    Bark- the grooves and bugs on bark are really interesting to look at, just watch out for mosquitoes if you're in a forest XD
    And to the people who got glasses late, though I don't need glasses much and I don't know if this actually surprised you;
    Leaves.

    For me, I think the most aesthetically pleasing thing is expensive chocolate. Especially those individual chocolates you get in fancy boxes. Some of them with have different colours and types of chocolates swirled, striped or layered into different patterns on the same chocolate, or they'll use food dye to add little dots and streaks of colour and patterns that way. And the way they look when they're formed in moulds is always so intricate and pleasing to look at, and the way those chocolates are tempered means they're not just smooth to eat but also very shiny and reflective to look at, almost like ceramics.

The ability to gather info about a person at first glance. This can often lead to consciously or subconsciously judging and/ or classifying people even if you don’t want to and that’s awful. Hugs to you you are an amazing person!!
