I love the detail on the handle it gives it a whole new level of badass. Heat treating might seem difficult at first but it gets easier as you get practice. I just eyeball most things. Great job looking forward to seeing more cool builds.
Thanks so much man I'm glad you dig it!! 😁🙏🙏 And yeah the heat treating was super scary, but even after doing it once I feel just a bit more comfortable haha 😅
Holy shit, you got Boba Fett and Jar Jar Binks full size models. Glad you competed because I never would have seen your channel. The blade looks amazing. What a piece of art.
Hahaha I have a good friend that made the Boba Fett, and he also gave me the Jar Jar so they keep me company in the garage 😅 I also have the full metal Pyramid Head that I built as well that I wear for Halloween too! Thanks so much for the kind words!! 😁🙏
@@SmittyTutDesigns that’s great. Can’t wait to see what else you create. I’m currently working on building the Mandalorian dark sabor out of 1084 and 15n20. Not sure how I’m going to make the hilt yet. Might out source to someone with a 3D printer
As usual, I have to stick with it. Not sure about the comfort of the handle. However, the look is wonderful! Excellent ! No words! A truly masterful work. I don't envy the judges. They will have a hard choice.
I think you captured the true spirit of the challenge. That is the beauty of H.R. Giger his art is organized organic chaos. That, you also captured in abundance! I would try Ferric Chloride to do the steel in the future. It actually etches the metal so just a few minutes in you can darken steel. You could use paint or any medium to relief parts or areas not to darken. Anyway very cool. I would like to see more of this art style in steel tools.
Man thank you so much- I was hoping to get just a little feel of Giger but I'm glad others can see it too!! And YES Ferric Chloride, I should have totally used that!! Thanks for the kind words and input!!! 😁🙏🙏🙏
Wahou, je ne sais pas quoi dire face à tant de beauté ! Tu es un artisan/artiste exceptionnel ! Merci beaucoup pour le partage ! Salutations de Suisse et d'Equateur.
Oh man I'm glad you dig it!! 😁🙏 I'm just happy to be able to be a part of such a cool idea with a ton of other awesome artists- winning last time was a legit surprise, I didn't even think I was going to place at all
Great build. I appreciate your artistry, as I have none. Your heat treat was fine. Nailing it only means you hit the absolute potential hardness and grain structure. Nobody does, but its hard and functional. Bravo!
Loved it! Your imagination is amazing when it comes to blade making. I know there’s gonna be that one guy that makes his chopper and it’s rough, scarred looking barely finished….on purpose. You just don’t think that way. Everything you do has style….and I think that’s cool. And I think a lot of that comes because you started on things that weren’t “real”. They weren’t made to be actual tools or weapons….they were basically really well made props. But that, I think, made you look at all your future stuff with an eye towards making everything look cool. Which is awesome. And I’m hoping you do well in this….I’m also hoping that the more “serious” bladesmiths don’t get down on you because of the way you came up. Some of them are so friggin starchy about how they look at things. You’re a breath of fresh air with your eye not just to craftsmanship but the aesthetics as well. Anyway, good luck, lad….
I appreciate the kind words Mike! Yeah it's been tough making the transition from prop making into the real blade making portion of the world- but really the majority of the bladesmiths I've come across have been really helpful and supportive... and I'm glad to have so many by my side for encouragement. I know there's a plethora of them out there that nitpick a lot of things, and talk down to people- and luckily I've only come across only a small handfull of them haha. But again man I appreciate the support- it means a lot to know people are diggin the new builds!! 😀🙏🙏🙏
Just a heads up regarding the temper to save you a bit of time. You can bake your blade at 400 pull it out and you can cool it down with some tap water to where you can handle it again and then throw it back in the oven for your second round of tempering. That way you can spend less time waiting on your blade to be finished. I'm an impatient person when it comes to tempering because I want to be able to get back to working on my blade lol.
I'm for sure gonna make a few Tactical Butter knives. I absolutely love this build by the way. The amount of artistry that went into this, is insane. Great Job!
You have about a minute after quench to straighten out any warping before it gets brittle, I don't recommend standing on it with those plates tho. Nice work for your first time with high carbon!
hay i love I LOVE this blade just insane amount of work in to it as for not being able to make dmask you can buy billets of demasks and just preform you magic on them and i do mean magic this is one ORK Tastick blade
Hey man if youre going for an organic look maybe dont leave the bevel so crisp. Either blend it in or do a full flat grind before the sculpting. Also dont use 1095 for such a long blade and if you do then leave the spine soft(er)
Excellent work! Loved the design and workmanship. I'm curious as to how comfortable the handle is barehanded after all the detailing you put in there. Do you need gloves to safely use it (as you did in the veggie and fruit attacks)?
Thank you so much for the kind words- I'm glad you like it!! 😁🙏🙏 And the handles are actually really comfortable bare handed, usually with metal handles they get pretty slippery so the extra details add a lot of grippy-ness (plus I sanded down the sharper edges, and polished the cutouts where you grip the steel). And actually when chopping the fruits and veggies I wore those neoprene gloves so my hands didn't get sticky from all the juices hahaha!! 😅😂
Thank you so much for the kind words!! 😁🙏🙏 And absolutely- those burs are from Amazon right here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S8WRYH4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

nice build.. but gloves at the drillpres.. everytime i see someone doing this i cant get thh video a like! its so dangerous.. i doest matter if those are rubbergloves who rip easy.. if your hand catched once you have broken bones in a second.. i have seen this multiple times
Thanks so much for diggin the build! And yeah I've been working in machine shops for well over 13 years and seen some pretty devastating injuries so safety is absolutely key. But no worries at all, I've had these thin as paper neoprene gloves catch the bit and just tear so I'm good with it. Take care! 😁🙏
