To everyone involved in this challenge, I have been watching most of you for quite a while. I am a huge supporter of small businesses, especially those that create and add a sense of community. All of you have done a great job doing both of those things. Thank you for sharing your journey’s with us. Good luck everyone
Great job, Bryan! I was stressed out just watching you bend that first knife. Can't imagine how you must've felt when you heard that crack from the scales
I consider the ABS performance test to be more of a test of the abilities of the craftsman especially when it comes to controlling the heat treat to get specific properties than an actual practical test of knife quality. I could probably get a piece of mild steel to pass the ABS performance test by case hardening the edge, but it wouldn't make a very practical tool for everyday use. Still an interesting take on the challenge.
@@BKohnKnives I have actually been thinking of doing it for a while, as an illustration of how far you can push a terrible material. I don't know if you are aware of this, but a person on TH-cam who goes by Chandler Dickinson posted a video of making a railroad spike knife that passed a simulated version of the ABS performance test albeit barely.
@@BKohnKnives haha you def should him and maxmoefoe on cold ones can be a fun watch! tho this is borderline promoting someones channel, sorry! i love your content and am glad i discovered you in my feed! keep up the amazing work!
@@BKohnKnives Seems YT posted my comment twice. 🤷♂. For the HT oven, you should get the PID controller for your forge first. It's only $100 and its as acurate as the HT oven. 👍🏻. I had mine set and kept it within +/- 5F.
rolled my chair to the other end of my room watching you bend your knives like that. Trying to get away from the shrapnel from the other side of the screen lol. Great job!
Nice ones, this inspires me to try making/testing knife in this style. Probably never going to do it officially but just to test if i can do it. In Finland we have bit different approach on getting certified as blade smith, it's more school type thing in here. Lot of non knife making stuff also in it, like bisnes/marketing. But i haven't done that either, just youtube learning 😊
Great job Brian!! You had me on the edge of my seat during the bend tests! I could watch ABS TESTS all day, but I don't think my heart take it! Lol! As an Apprentice in the ABS, you really got me excited to take my test! Congratulations brother! 😎👍🏻🔨🔥🔪
Kiln vs forge is not a test of the forge, but you skill with the forge. Kiln will give you mass prodused results, the forge's results will be based on you skill level. The fact that both your knives survived the chop and bent tests prove your level of skill.
I appreciate the compliment, but I disagree. I’ve had knives crack and otherwise underperform when heat treated in a forge. It adds a level of unknown that the kiln will remove. Reliability is the name of the game. 👍🏻
Next challenge needs to be a dungeons and dragons challenge. There will be rolling a dodecahedron. The resulting number will be the weapon assigned to the number
My viewer entry chopped through a 4 x 4 inch hard oak beam and then shaved so hah 😅😅😅 Ok but seriously what you did was super impressive, keep up the good work!
Seriously, I don't see a point in making those ridiculous tests for bending. No-one is going to use knife in order to perform like that, to bend in 90degrees. Its just stupid and pointless. The ideal knife is holding sharpness and also is easy to sharpen. Looks good and its comfortable. Period.
These tests are not 100% realistic, but people do use and abuse my knives. This is a test to take them to the limits and see what they can hold up to. I agree that comfort, sharpness, and durability are the most important traits in a knife, but how am I to insure that my knives can take and hold up to abuse unless a test then every once in a while?
@@BKohnKnives I get it, some people don’t have idea how to use knife, and that it is a tool! Same as other tools, it have its purpose and job to do. I’m not saying don’t test it from time to time, but this test, left you with banana knife😅 and if some of your clients will try to insert your knife in a vice, and bend it with pipe, should think about getting some medical help. Just saying. Anyway nice work👌

Thank you 🤝
You were so stoked at the successful bend test! Way to go!
My adrenaline was pumping!!! I’ll be watching your video here in a little bit!
Greetings Mr Kohn.
Great job.
It was a pleasure to participate.
Greetings
Thank you. 🤝
Awesome job!!!You are definitely very good at your trade.
Thank you kindly. It’s been a lot of hard work and good luck.
You are always so positive, and so excited on every build you do. Love watching you forge.
Thank you buddy! I appreciate that you’ve watched for a while. Which one is your favorite so far?
I think I liked your bowie challenge entry the best. The dagger last year was beautiful as well.
Ive never made a chopper for testing like that but i bet it was an amazing feeling when it hit 90 without breaking. Great job bud
Absolutely exhilarating! My adrenaline was pumping! You should give it a shot. I’d love to see your version pass the test
Dude Amazing Builds On Both!!!! Bending them would have me sweating bullets hahaha 😀🤘🤘🤘
I was so worried all the way through the bend! It was crazy for sure
Great job, Bryan! I was stressed out just watching you bend that first knife. Can't imagine how you must've felt when you heard that crack from the scales
Thanks buddy! I about jumped out of my skin! It was so scary! 🤣
Excellent job! The torture test was making me fidget in my seat. 😅
I was a nervous wreck. I was so glad when it was over
Pretty darn good performance!
Thanks man! Almost as cool as your knives! 🤙
Sooo happy for you!!! Those bend tests had me cinched up ! Love IT!!!
Tight as a snare drum! 🥁

Great job, Brian, on these knives and a fantastic idea to incorporate the ABS testing into your project. Thanks for the share.
Thank you for the compliment! It was a lot of stress and a lot of fun!
Congratulations on the bend tests! Awesome builds!
Thank you! It was a lot of hard work but it sure payed off in the end!

It was so crazy! I was so relieved when it was all done. Could you feel it in the celebration after the forged knife bend test? 🤣
@@BKohnKnives Absolutely! Those two blades earned my vote, brother!
Very impressive workmanship

Thank you! Message me on Facebook or Instagram and we can talk customs for ya
I have to say that I am very proud of you for making it happen not only once but twice and those are good looking blades keep up the good work
Thank you kindly! I honestly felt so worried that neither were going to hold up to the test. What a happy surprise!
Well done Bryan! Really enjoyed this one. 🎉
Thanks Brian. I truly appreciate it from a friend like you.
Bravo! You should be proud!

Bryon great job brother thats a hell of a acomplishment you made 2 beatiful choppers i just ordered some CF from you today as well 😃👍👍✌✌Mark
Thank you for the order! I’ll get it out Monday morning!
To echo other comments, I was so stressed watching the 90 bend in both of them. Wow, you should be immensely proud

@B. Kohn Knives as you have actually forged knives, and I have only watched TH-cam I assume you are correct.

I’ve always wanted to do a knife where all of the major decisions are chosen by a D20 roll. Cool idea!
really fantastic builds, some of the others maybe wouldnt stand up to the test
Thank you! Remember to vote!
Bryan where have you been my man great videos outstanding build🤙👊😂👋
Had to take some time off to move into a new house and a new shop
Did it scare you when you heard the handle start popping😂
My life flashed before my eyes! It was a shock it didn’t break!
@@BKohnKnives for sure that first one looked like it might break at any second but the second one just seemed to bend a lot smoother. Good job on both
I was sweating bullets on the first one! After doing the first I was so much more confident on the second
Shop is looking a little different. Nice blades!
Juuuuuuust a little different! 🤣
Not gonna lie. I thought I was going to upchuck if those blades broke. Didn’t puke but those tests by the abs are scary enough to turn your hair gray

No knife should go through that… but it’s good to know they can I guess😂
in all fairness you making it harder by squatting down and doing it! mount it waist high and go to town
100% agreed. That is the best way to do it
Shame u bluebacked them. Otherwise great job, nice n thin
