@@Atherax this is the last fragment of the Mongol empire the last stand against the Manchu empire but was sadly wiped out by a large force it took place in 1755 same time as the americans were fighting the french army to take settlement
I love the version with American singers but it just doesn't hit the same without the native language being sung. This music carries power, power passed from generation to generation I'm glad to have witnessed it on display. You guys make some beautiful music
This song is a tribute to Galdan Boshugtu Khan, who is known as the "Black Thunder". He fought (and died) against the Manchu trying to reunite the Mongols and re-establish the Mongol empire in the 17th century - see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galdan_Boshugtu_Khan. Of course the reenactment is overly simplified and exaggerated. He once famously said that "Of my beloved homeland, we will refuse even if a mere inch was asked by the Lord Buddha himself." This is remarkable because he spent 20 years studying Buddhism in Tibet under the 5th Dalai Lama before he was forced to quit his training and to renounce his status as a high ranking Lama. He knew where his loyalties lies.
Finally, a historical note about who was Black Thunder and thus putting who is who in perspective. I still wish there were English subtitles, lol, but I still search for song background.
Сайн уу! Great song. Btw, I served alongside Mongolian soldiers in the Middle East. It is amazing how much they have retained the traditional Mongolian warrior spirit even in these modern times.

I helped lead a symposium of Eastern Asian air force officers in 2002. The Mongolian Air Force was doing amazing work with truly POS Soviet-era equipment. Glad to hear about your experience with them. They are not smug in their pride--it is well-earned.
If I'm not mistaken, their producer is the one everyone believes in. He spent around a decade developing the band's musical style and helping record the first songs. But he was already well established in the music scene before the band was even an idea. So when he said he was doing something, he didn't have to sell it too hard.
It was financed through the plunder taken from neighboring villages, selling off those that they didn't butcher into slavery as well as the annual tribute payments. That's just what Mongols do, they have to lay siege, sack and plunder everything they see.
I wouldn't go that far. Don't get me wrong but as soon as they started collaborating with the likes of Shadix and doing covers of American rock and metal songs it was downhill in both instrumental and visual aesthetic standards. I'm just glad they left that Americanized crap behind because I'm pretty sure it's not why the vast majority of us fell in love with them

my favorite fact about the Mongols is the fact they invented arrow resistant armor, by using silk beneath their scale mail. The silk would, Ideally, twist around the now duller arrow, and stop it much like modern Kevlar. they saw a problem, and fixed it wonderfully. Not to mention largest empire ever. sadly, it fell for the same reason as every other; infighting for power.

There is not a lot of respect towards women these days, little men expect us to be cheap and objectified but you love and respect us. It is a beautiful and rare thing to see these days.
I tell you what - Throughout the Mongolian history of 2500 years women were very very important. Often, in very critical times of the Mongolian state (when the Khan lost the war or the foreign attackers - usually the Chinese were advancing throughout the steppes, women took leads and they saved the nation and khan's throne countless times. @@wolfhaven9312 You know whenever the Hu drops a single or new music video, i tend to look for your comments haha. As always you never disappoint. This particular history of Mongolia is so complex and tragic as well. Galdan Boshigt is the king that defied the Manchu oppression against all odds but got poisoned by renegade in his close circle. He was a leader of Oirad Mongol which is also known as Zuun Gar. They were the last independent Mongol state that stood against the Manchu rule. This is about the fourth time I have lived in this movie. It to me is the most real to life event that absorbs me into it. I have lived a personal war in life for 74 years. Of those years near everyone has been a struggle to stay on the upper edge. Many a years I have been homeless here in the US never due to drugs, but the thing called life has taken it's tolls on my heart. Every time I see this flick tears swell up. Life to some is an eternal stretch of the soul being torn. If one is fortunate enough they might take in a bit of the more pleasantries along that way. (Hu), the totality of who you are, represents millions of lives scattered across the face of this earth. Most do not realize that it is but a journey we are only passing through to the other side. As well most of those could care less about the other side for the ride here is so tragic and disbursing that just to hurry this process up and end it is the greatest victory of all. Thank you each and everyone for hearing and adhering to your spiritual call. Through this life of yours, many have burdens removed from their souls. Thanks again for adhering to your life's call.

The silk would, Ideally, twist around the now duller arrow, and stop it much like modern Kevlar.
they saw a problem, and fixed it wonderfully.
Not to mention largest empire ever. sadly, it fell for the same reason as every other; infighting for power.
I remember hearing the song during the intro for Jedi: Fallen Order and rushing to Google to make sure it was you guys. I'm so proud of you! Greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹
of course, cos this music in the fallen order arena
This song is very very similar to that one but , the one from Jedi: Fallen Order is called Sugaan Essena.
I'd never heard of them before playing Fallen Order back in Feb 2020.
The music intrigued me so much that at one point during the gladiator fight I actually stopped playing and Googled, "Jedi Fallen Order gladiator arena music" which led me to the Sugaan Essena video, (which had dropped a week or so earlier) and became instant fan.

Please read Jack Weatherford's Secret History of Mongol Queens, and you will know how important were women in the Mongolian history including for Genghis (Chinggis) Khan himself!

Very few... Probably none in "christian" societies.
In the end Manchu dynasty committed a genocide against them once they fully conquered and demolished the Zhuun Gar dynasty. This song hits something primal inside. My ancestors were vikings, I listen to a lot of Nordic folk music and when I found this band, I felt connected on a deep level
I'm Slavic and I have the exact same feelings
I'm not Norse or anything but I can see the similarities of Nordic folk metal and The Hu, for sure. It's there!
Nordic, Celtic Irish, and Mediterranean French ancestors, I feel the exact same way. The cultures have kinship that transcends geography.
Sure!
Same with me. I have a tiny bit of Mongolian, Tuvan, and Kalmyk DNA, along with Scandinavian, Russian, Ukrainian and Polish, and Irish.
Very deep and spiritual. Even though I don't speak the language, instant connection that spans language
Such epic work from a band that truly goes hard mixing traditional and modern seamlessly into something amazing for the mind body and spirit to consume and feed on

I'm an American, but rock an roll and heavy metal are multi lingual. so rock on!!!🤘
Absolutely mesmerizing! Mongolian culture is much like First Nation culture from North America, from the Braids in your Hair, to the Thunder of the Drums, to the Wolf, to the Eagle, to the Horse, to the Blue Sky, to the Earth, to the Eagle Feathers, to the Cloth Offerings....I am so blown away! May the Great Spirit bless you always and forever!
Same bloodline, via the once-landbound Bering Strait --- but it's still rather astonishing that so much of the ancient culture is retained, just as you say, and also teepees/tipis, Inuit throat singing, shamanism, etc. Marvelous, really!
Thank you for your comments. I have always believed our cultures are related. There are too many similarities to be coincidental.
@@paulaarbay9607 All cultures are related to each other.
America was founded by Europeans. Who, at one time, were mostly conquered by the Great Kahn. ;)
@@wvangelder1987 Much of what you say is true. However, during the time when the Bering Strait was landlocked between Asia and North America, vast numbers of nomadic, Asian Siberians immigrated into the Americas, forming our "native" tribes, some 20,000 years ago. The matching DNA, along with the ancient culture (religion, totems, music, housing styles and distinctive implements of all sorts) is still evident in the North, Central, and South American First Peoples. Instead of being "founded" by Europeans, we were _rediscovered_ in 1492.
They have the same ancestors. Thousends of years ago, they wandering about the Bering Street to Alaska and down til South America and became to the indians.

I love their music. It speaks to me.
