I have some questions: 1. I’ve been rejected from about 50 interviews. (In the last one they found the excuse that I could have given more examples. There must have been 20 to 30 perfectly given interviews with no feedback at all. The feedback I got from a lot of them is that they went for another candidate). 2. Before the pandemic it only took around 4 interviews to secure a new role 3. I went to a top business school and have half a decade of experience working for blue chip companies 4. *I’ve been given the advice by some corporate operatives that I could still somehow secure a role at a top company even if I’ve been unemployed for half a dozen years* *Is it discrimination? Is it bias because there is money involved? I would just like to know what is going on as I’m being forced to retire early abroad/take a career break in the summer*..
Most of us use Microsoft Office Word to create our resume. However with my own experience different versions of Word will layout the document differently, especially with older versions. To prevent broken styles, missing font (rarely) or suddenly your 2-page CV in your laptop becomes 3-page with the 3rd page has just one or two lines in the interviewer's laptop, convert it to pdf.

As a french man, i think that choosing to put your picture on your cv can be a good way to struggle against discrimination, your cv has more chance to be considered; it’s as a Book: a beautiful first page give more chance to want to open the book to read it than a book without anti picture
Hi Richard. Great video with some excellent tip and suggestions for a good CV. My only thought is, as a hiring manager myself, I much prefer to see the key skills section before the professional history section. This way I’m not not digging through the professional history to see is the candidate has the skills I’m looking for, I can see it straight away. If they do, or are close, then I can look at their history for context. When candidates put their key skills up front, it saves a lot of time for the hiring manager.

your cv's shld be tailored differently for different positions, i got one for manufacturing, one for retail, one for managerial & so on, i have had the fortune of putting together & conducting the process of interviewing & one thing i learnt was that top jobs screen cv's as well as application forms to see it's not copied & your experiences are your own & written in your own words, copying the main structural layout is fine but a little tweak here & there so you can stand out from the endless amounts of cv's employers receive does help.
As a hiring manager, I can tell you I don’t read personal statements. They all sound the same and full of fluff. My suggestion is less buzz words the better but yes I do agree with an impact statement/achievement with every experience section
I was under the impression that not having a summary, objectives or personal statement isn't a bad thing. That it's kind of antiquated. It's just fluff and this type of thing can be written on a cover letter. Am I wrong here?

Thanks, it was so helpful but it doesn't aliens with students or fresh graduates. I am a fresh high school graduate and want to apply for the Scholarships and I don't have an idea how to organize my resume. Although, I have written one, not sure whether is it powerful in the case of students' backgrounds or not. Love your enthusiasm! Great video! Would just add to make sure you use correct spelling, grammar and spacing and check multiple times. How you write on your CV says a lot about you. and how good or bad you would be as potential employee. You don’t want potential employers to think you are unprofessional.

Excellent video. How do you add previous experience from over 10 years ago that is still relevant to a position, without "aging" yourself? Because like it or not, ageism happens to a lot of us. If you list the dates you were employed, that draws attention. And if the employer is not able to contact said employer for a reference, because that company does not keep records from 10 years back, then what? Thank you.
My advice would be to add the experience in the form of skills and qualities you have in section before your work experience. That way you can easily highlight what relevant skills and qualities you have tailored for that role.

Thanks, it was so helpful but it doesn't aliens with students or fresh graduates. I am a fresh high school graduate and want to apply for the Scholarships and I don't have an idea how to organize my resume. Although, I have written one, not sure whether is it powerful in the case of students' backgrounds or not. Moreover, I want sure of my mistake that caused me to lose one chance, when I sent the CV, I didn't name the CV properly. Now l learned to name the CV by my name and the profession I want to apply.

Love your enthusiasm! Great video! Would just add to make sure you use correct spelling, grammar and spacing and check multiple times. How you write on your CV says a lot about you. and how good or bad you would be as potential employee. You don’t want potential employers to think you are unprofessional.

My earlier experience I worked in Higher Education and have 8 yrs? Should you leave out the years? Is a skills based resume more suitable? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Excellent video. How do you add previous experience from over 10 years ago that is still relevant to a position, without "aging" yourself? Because like it or not, ageism happens to a lot of us. If you list the dates you were employed, that draws attention. And if the employer is not able to contact said employer for a reference, because that company does not keep records from 10 years back, then what? Thank you.
My advice would be to add the experience in the form of skills and qualities you have in section before your work experience. That way you can easily highlight what relevant skills and qualities you have tailored for that role.
