How do you reupholster a chair?

- I found this chair on the curb a few blocks from my house, on a main road. So I drove by it a few times, trying to not pick it up because I already had too many projects stored in my garage. But then I had to drive by it a couple more times, and then it started rain. So I just pulled over and stored it in my car until the rain stopped.
This was a really budget friendly, economical furniture flip. I don't know much about reupholstery, but I probably knew enough to get by. It was interesting to find that the chair was probably recently reupholstered, and that the chair is probably over a hundred years old. The chair was very sturdy, so the flip just involved refinishing the exposed wood and replacing the exterior fabric. The cushion and wood joints were fine.
For this furniture refurbish project, I needed:
a flathead screwdriver
needle nose pliers
sand paper
small wire brush
water based polyurethane
two yards of fabric
fabric hot glue
and a ton of staples.
I don't know much about reupholstery, so I was figuring things out as I worked. In the end, this chair looked pretty neat and sold very quickly. It was a simple and short flip. I'm not really used to doing quick flips like this.
We named this channel "We Found These" because these are all projects that we found. We actually used to live in an apartment that had an alley in the back, and we used to find discarded furniture out there and I would just carry it home on a skateboard. We hope to inspire people to try these same kinds of projects If we can find these, I'm sure anyone can. And if we can find ways to repair and update furniture on a budget, I'm pretty sure other people can, too.
You can find us on IG under the name wefoundthese, and TikTok under the name wefoundthese. We used to have a website by the same name, but we let it go.
