I own a Buick Park Avenue Ultra and luckily the dealer close to me is honest and has fair prices. They let me bring my own oil and I only get charged for labour. Car runs great after they did my oil change.
My dealer included the 1st two oil changes free(or 10K miles) I had to use a LOGICAL explanation to get them to change it earlier and, that was AFTER I had dropped it off for tire rotation and oil/filter request…picked it up cuz”Tech said NOT TIME YET” Grrh.took it back 3days later with the LOGICAL explanation. I’m not about to go 10K on an oil change! So, I got 2oil changes by 10K :) I’ll change it myself
@@jankington216 we have gasoline with ethanol in it, and it makes a pretty good mess of carburetors when it sits. That’s why I’m your small gas engines, whether two or four cycle, you always use non-alcohol fuel.
I have worked on crop dusters most my life, We operated 9 cylinder radial engines in the beginning . we also ran the planes on car gas most of the time. I always added 1 gallon of Marvel to every 500 gallons of fuel. And we never had any valve problems. I don't care what it in it! I care that it does work! don't ever go over 5000 miles between oil changes. engines are expensive and oil is cheap when you think about!. Thanks for the videos!
I have used Marvel Mistery Oil for about 1955. My Dad and my Grandfather were using it before me. It has saved me often. The latest new thing I am doing with it is putting a tablespoon of Marvel per gallon of gas in four-cycle and two-cycle. I also use two-cycle oil in the gas for two cycles. I never put a stabilizer in the gas. Most of my engines go 20 years before needing a carburetor kit.
And of course clean fuel and filter changes. MMO was originally made to help the Marvel carburetor last longer. Then people discovered it was good for the oil system and gave lubrication properties to the fuel.
Sold engine parts for an industrial engine supplier . The F6-226 continental engines used in oil field pump jacks came with a top end lubricator that vaporized marvel into the intake made those engines last forever. Worn valve guides was the engine killer back then , never happened to those engines with the top end lubricator.
I too have been using it for years. I use about an ounce in every tankful of fuel in my motorcycle and about every 3500 miles in my fuel in my car. My Bike LOVES it, the engine runs so quiet when im riding that you cant hardly hear it running. I have used it in the oil in my car as well but not often because i run Valvoline and its the very best for cleaning the internal engine parts.
I'm not sure if you know the history behind this but I'm the one that actually brought the team together on to my channel and we did a live stream and we answered questions for well over an hour After bringing the Marvel team onto my channel they saw the need for a basic POLL It consisted of what people wanted next and what I keep hearing was a additive that they can put in their turbocharged engines / high performance engines that would last long term and would not be a bother to the engine components or the power adder systems them self and what I found was they wanted a compatible additive version of the regular Marvel Mystery Oil and this I took back to the team and they began developing the product and I worked with them answering questions from time to time over the year that this took place and eventually was released to me first before anybody else and then it was released to other people afterwards Not that it really matters on who got the product first but this is just a little bit of insight on how the product actually came about and it was something that I was trying to do to bring to the performance crowd and the people that wanted to run this in turbocharged applications and it pushed them into a mode of trying to develop this product quickly and they did a wonderful job of it
@@FarpointFarms let me go back and finish proof reading this because it's all over the place, I just quickly sent it before I went to bed just so I can say hi to you
@ I believe it’s 4 0z to a tank of gas, honestly I think you can put a hole small bottle in with no harm . Sometimes I just squeeze the the bottle could be more or less. I try to measure now because the price is so expensive Walmart had it for $3.88 forever now I buy it by the gallons. You can find sometimes $25 a gallon my cars take 5 quarts and I put one quart in with the oil, -1 quart of oil of course it doesn’t change the viscosity, I’ve used it since the 70s I have hundreds of thousands of miles on my cars I believe when it burns it protects the inside of your exhaust. I remember telling my dad in New York the car i It’s rotting away but our exhaust is good maybe it’s the marvel just a guess love the stuff ! It’s not an engine flush it maintains good lubricant and and keep it in until the next oil change II never ever go over 3000 miles sometimes I don’t use the car in the winter and I will change the oil at 200 miles I believe it stick on the parts and prevents rust . There is a new synthetic marble be careful because you can’t put that in the gas. It’s oil only good luck any questions give me a yell.
Once bought a sailboat that sank and was cleaned up and repaired except the 4 cylinder international engine. I drained it filled entire engine with MMO. Let sit 1 week, then worked the crank shift back and forth. Took bout 30 min and it broke free rotating very nicely. I learned it from boat mechanics. Wonderful stuff. I use it in all my engine for oil and fuel, plus anywhere I'd use penitrating oil.
The first time I used it to clean out an engine, I was shocked at how filthy the oil was coming out of it. Now I put in a pint 200-300 miles before an oil change every time.
@@ibberman so the cleaning action only applies in the last bit before the oil change and you can keep the viscosity of the oil correct for nearly the entire time between changes. Marvel's is about a 3w oil, so mixing it with 5-30 does lower the viscosity. That's the way many people use it. Marvel's is 1/2 solvent and 1/2 oil.
I have a wonderful old Arkansas Stone with a fine grit on one side and slightly rougher on the other which I've been using for about 40 years. It's just now showing its age. I used to use 3-in-1 oil but the Marvel Mystery Oil does much better. A little goes a very long ways.@@FarpointFarms
I add a little to the gas in all my 4 stroke small engines and my motorcycle. I think it helps lubricate and clean the valves. Even if it does nothing, it makes me feel good about using it.
If you love your car like I love my 1990 Ford Ranger you will seldom go past 4,000 miles per oil change. I have had this truck since new. It runs like the day I bought it. I use MMO every season to keep my truck running great. My Spring renewal is coming up soon, an oil change + MMO and a bottle in the gas tank will happen. Great stuff that I learned from my Uncle in 1975 to keep everything running smoothly.
Never heard of MMO until Vice Grip Garage started talking about it so I finally bought a bottle. I’ve got a 1986 Chevy K10 with a 350 that leaks a little from rear main and see a lot of carbon deposits from exhaust so was going to try this. I change oil every spring with full synthetic 10w-30 and only put 1,000 miles be year on the truck. I’ll be storing the truck for the winter shortly and wondering if it could possibly increase the rear main leak if left to sit for 6 months. I do start the truck monthly on nicer days. Probably won’t get 500 miles on before next oil change in the spring.
Sitting shouldn't cause the seal to leak worse. They stiffen with age, so it's happening slowly no matter what. MMO does help soften seals, but it's not it's primary use.
Had a 307 Olds V8 that at a bit over 100,000 miles burned a quart of oil between 3,000 mile oil changes. Replacing one quart of oil with a quart of Marvel cleared that right up.
Here is another use for the original Marvel oil. I use it to restore corroded aluminum. Basically I brush or spray bottle it and let it sit. Say under your car or truck your trans, differentials etc. I also have restored aluminum snowmobile engines that have sat out in the weather since the 1970’s. After coating the part for a few times, maybe weeks or months, you can come back and use a brass brush, nylon wheel and remove the rest. Besides soda blasting, this works great.
So obviously if using in crankcase substitute so much MMO for Oil Correct? There's another product that has been around for a long time called AT-205 if you have a rear main seal leaking it's considered one of the best to stop a leak and it also can be used in a Transmission if it has a leak.
FYI AT-205 is just diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, a solvent/plasticizer It can indeed work but there's nothing "special" about it versus the many other brands that contain the same chemical. Only reason AT-205 got so expensive is because Scotty Kilmer featured it on his TH-cam channel and the demand skyrocketed for the product after that. But unless you like spending more money for no reason, you can get the same chemical product from different brands like Blue Devil, LubeGard, Bar's, etc. Word of caution - If you do decided to use a diethylene glycol monoethyl ether product, make sure your oil reservoir is not painted on the inside (yes some are such as some years of Corolla) as diethylene glycol monoethyl ether is a very effective solvent/paint stripper and it will lift that paint right off the metal surface and completely stop up the oil pick up tube which will then make your engine go BOOM.
@@marketingmajor8126Add 30ml each oil change shouldn't do damage but yes, on its own it's original purpose is for decal stripping cutting paint (magical to totally restore stiff latex heeled brushes etc). It doesn't blend with oil it's like a salad dressing once in the crankcase. It's destructive to Styrene if exposed to enough over time.
I just bought my first quart a couple of weeks ago. Now I need to put it in my 2004 Chevy 1500 (268283 miles) for a noisy lifter. Just bought this truck, so I don’t know any history.
I agree, don't go past 5000 miles on an oil change unless you have an extra bypass filter installed. I like the new synthetic version for engine oil. I noticed a little difference by adding 4 ounces to my oil which has about 2500 miles on it. I believe the synthetic version is mandatory for engines specified to use full synthetic motor oil, like some Corvettes, BMWs and many turbocharged engines. The Original formula is still great for a flush in those engines. Or just about any engine.
I have used MMO for over 30 years, you’re crazy if you don’t use this on small gas engines. My lawn mower, generator, pressure washer & my Harleys get it. It works, it will extend the life of your motor. I have a 1/3 acre, my mower is now 10 years old & still starts up first try every time. It cleans & lubricates like no other.
My grandfather introduced me to MMO in 1967. He had worked on building the factory in Portchester, NY. Over the years, I have used MMO in the gas of my engines to lubricate and clean the combustion chambers. I have bought poor running cars with a weak cylinder. 6 months of MMO in the gas and the engines ran well. The MMO will free up piston rings that are stuck in their groves and help clean valves. Good video. Good Luck, Rick
Love MMO, hate how the lid seals (it always leaks if the bottle goes sideways) what i do is when i open a new 1g bottle, i pour it into a 1g Jerry can, no leaks! Love the stuff. Took a truck that was only getting 8mpg and got it to around 13mpg by adding approx 1oz to a gallon with every fill up and always 20% to the oil. It took probably 8 months of that and dailying it but imo it helped a TON
Remember new synthetic formula is only for engine!! I use original mmo for my 2010 Mercedes benz s550 1/2 quart in motor oil. 4oz per 10 gallons in fuel amazing
It's the only lubricant I use on my bicycle chain. It never collects dirt, grime or dust. I lube the chain about once a month or every 100 miles. I've used Tri-Flo on occasion, but have always gone back to Marvel Mystery Oil. Now that I know about the synthetic version, I'll try putting a bottle in the next oil change on my '04 F250. Thanks for the information!
You mentioned using it in diesel fuel, just one question, does the red dye in the MMO show up in the diesel fuel and make it look like off road diesel, which could be a problem
You're right to caution motorists about going more than 5k between oil changes. Even if the oil is a super-duper fully synthetic product, its lubricating effectiveness nonetheless is diminished once the oil filter is saturated with dirt and contaminants because the oil then becomes contaminated. If one opts for high mileage oil change intervals, they really ought to at least change the filter every 5k or so.
@@bmwlane8834yeah, I had a 325 and the manual recommended changing oil like every 12k or maybe 15k miles or something like that and said use Mobil 1 synthetic. I never went that long but if the manufacturer says 15k, well? Probably fine.
Probably the other way around. If the specification of the filter os 10,000 miles, you can change the oil and leave the filter in. I used to do that on a vehicle with a difficult to reach filter. Only if the engine is dirty to begin with because of neglected maintenance, do you need to work about the filter. In general, low-end and non-name filters are good for 5000 miles at the most. Some low end filters advertise a 10,000 mile interval. I don't believe it. I have a 2001 import. I use whatever oil is the cheapest and a Supertech filter. No problems. There is no such thing as bad motor oil. The cost of building a new oil refinery in at least $5 billion. No one is going to invest in a refinery and make a bad products. The real question with the increased price is it still a product to run with every fuel up and 20% oil changes? Alot of my research the original formula was less than $4.00 not long ago. I just purchased my first bottle of MMO original at close to $8 bottle. A 15-20% increase in price with inflation I can deal with but not close to a 50% increase..
I think that would depend on the person, the car, and their budget. If you have the funds to use it every time, I would use it. For those who may not have a ton of money, I would use it every oil change and a few times a year for the fuel. Inflation is going to make vehicle maintenance become less frequent for many-
@ Josh Sansone-- I have been using the original Marvel Mystery Oil at every fill up in my car, truck, and lawn mower since 2016. I started using MMO from the advice of my mechanic who had just replaced the fuel pump in my 2002 Chevy truck. He said using it in the gas would lubricate the new fuel pump and it would last longer. Back then and for more than five years, the price for a quart (32oz) of MMO at Walmart was $3.88. Unfortunately, since the summer of 2021, the price has increased about five times, and now it is $7.48 for a quart of MMO at Walmart, nearly double the price. Besides lubricating the fuel pump and keeping the entire fuel system clean, I am now getting at least an extra 1 to 2 more miles per gallon on the highway in my car. The savings in using less gas more than pays for the cost of the MMO.
I drive an '08 Scion xD. Same 2ZR-FE as the Toyota Corolla. I always do 10k - 15k mile oil changes. Full synthetic of course but I use Rislone instead of MMO. I have just shy of 280k miles on her right now!
@@FarpointFarms yessir. My father in law got rid of his '09 Corolla with just under 300k. It has since gotten a new engine but it's still going otherwise. Probably has 350k on it by now.
MMO uses a chemical called TCP Tricresylphosphate. It is in their mds or msds. The rest is light mineral oils now replaced by synthetic base. TCP is a reduction from TOCP which is extremely neurotoxic and cancer causing but is an excellent anti wear additive acting almost similar to ZDDP by plating onto metal surfaces. TCP is toxic but not nearly as much a TOCP. TCP is used in aircraft fuel and oil to prevent gumming and sludging especially in radial engines
Good, but a little bit scary info. Sadly as a tech for many years, the damage that some of these chemicals cause from long term exposure have already started to take hold.
I'm glad to hear that TCP is not nearly as toxic because every time I open a bottle of Marvel Mystery Oil I like to take in the fumes through my nostrils, It has such a great smell.
One of my customers put mmo in the brake master cylinder, it distorted all the seals, I had to rebuild the whole hydraulic system and flush the lines out
This is Wendell White. That's what I was researching about. I am curious as to the mmo helping out with the diesel fuel lubricant for expanding the life of the cp4.
I've started using the full synthetic for my usual 4 to 5k full synthetic oil change intervals, all on 4 cars that also used to receive a quart of regular MMO for the last 500 miles or so of an oil change interval (drain a quart, add a quart). Definitely curious to see the results in the oil. Still using the regular in the gas tank.
The oil was created by the Marvel Carburetor Company as a fuel additive to prevent vapor lock in aircraft carburetors. Later on their engineers began testing it in motor oil. A mechanic asked what was in it with an engineer replying "It's a mystery to me." Soon everyone there was calling it their mystery oil so the company decided to call it that and patented the name. Nobody really knew the actual ingredients until it was tested by the FAA when some was found in the aviation gas of a crashed airplane. The FAA announced MMO was made with VM&P Naptha, Stoddards Solvent and lard.
Actually STP was a very good product at that time. Cars used carburetors that always ran rich ,deluted oil and washed the oil off the cylinders.STP 9:56 helped reduce that damage until fuel injection came out.
Funny you mentioned Slick 50. I still have 3 tubes of Slick 50 grease that I only use on lawnmowers and really anything that needs grease. I haven't used the synthetic yet but I have used MMO for thirty years in my 93 Grand Am I bought brand new for my wife and it still runs like new and my 78 Chevy 4x4 truck I bought new when I was in high school which still runs great after 45 years. MMO has really proved its self to me.
I'm using MMO for the 1st time on my 2021 4runner with 40k miles. I change my oil every 5k. After I add the MMO, do I wait for the next oil change at 5k or do you need to change oil earlier? Thank you.
@@FarpointFarms With the synthetic MMO, it says 10%...normally the 4runner takes 6.6 qts. so I'll add 6 qts of oil and 1 bottle of MMO...which is half a qt, correct? and then change the oil at my regular 5k oil change interval?
I used the synthetic version in my 0W-20 oil change at local dealer, and they forgot to put oil cap on and I drove up the road and back, and got oil every where, they cleaned it, and said everything was alright? Should I run this through to the next oil change, or should I change it sooner!
I put regular marvel mystery oil in my ⛽️ as directed on another video, 200,000 on engine ,and I noticed quite a difference, per full tank, used less gas .. ⛽️ I am tempted put about 3oz in each fillup ..??????
I never have went too much pass 5kmile oil change ,maybe that's why still operating great at 200,000, but also was careful about adding gas addictive, but MMO ,if added in correct %%,can only help my older Kia 6cly., I've also changed timing BELT twice in life, not timing chain,as I thought, on 2nd radiator, sub frame also changed, I can hardly hear engine running
Damn!! Can't do it!! Everything I use is very old, and I will ONLY use conventional oil! I've used Marvel since I was 15, and now I will have to leave it behind. Was a great ride for a long time, but can't be mixing conventional with synthetic, not compatible!!
I was thinking of using this on my 2016 1.4t Jetta on one of its oil changes. I'm approaching 15000 miles on the odometer and wanna keep the engine running well for years to come. I just wonder if there's any harm in adding this to my engine after I added some liqui moly ceratec on its last oil change. would there be a chemical conflict with this and a ceramic additive like ceratec?.
Would you use the new Synthetic Marvel Mystery Oil in a high revving motorcycle or scooter for the full life of the oil? I'm kind of nervous about using it as a longterm oil additive, as opposed to a pre-oil change flush/cleaner that's only in the engine for a few days. I like using Motul in my scooter and its red in color like Marvel and it faintly smells like detergents, not oil. I'm wondering if the Motul -- with it's cleaners -- will be sufficient enough to prevent build up and sludge. I use the regular marvel in my scooter's fuel with almost every fill-up.
I have always been a fan of Marvel, they used to be in Port Chester, NY, drove past their building when I was younger, they were across from the Lifesavers building
I have used Marvel Mystery Oil on and off for over 50 years. My grandfather used it forever and my grandfather had been around long enough that he was selling whippet cars. I will stick with the original thank you.
I put in my 04 Buick lasaber gas tank was getting 19 miles gallon add a bottle and went to 23 miles a gallon in one tank run it every 4 tanks 3.8 engine
Vintage motorcycles love MMOil! Carried the small plastic pint bottle for years touring cross country, Roughly 1 oz. per gallon of fuel, top end and cylinders on air cooled bikes run better. Good for valves too!
How do you know if you NEED to use something like this? Is it alright for modern vehicles? Model year 2000+?? Does it Hurt to use on motors with 75k+ miles?
Lol....slick 50 saved the engine in my old 69 chevy pickup...but I use MMO...great stuff...I will try it...I add a few ounces of MMO in my mowers gas tank...keeps the valves and pistons clean..
I haven't been using MMO for very long but I have used it on and off in the past. I like using it in my gas since modern fuel is very dry, I finally got around to buying myself a gallon jug of it. When I bought my jug I put 10oz of it into my tank. The past one or two top ups since I bought the jug gets 2oz. I top up every weekend from 3/4 of a tank, It sounds odd but it's a habit I got into doing when gas prices starting going crazy. It was cheaper just to top up every weekend than it was to fill up from E so the routine just stuck. I also have some chainsaws I finally got around to working on that I would squirt some MMO into the cylinders of to make sure they weren't being pulled over dry. As for oil I'm a big fan of Royal Purple and AMSOIL. My last oil change done was with Royal Purple, this time around I'm going to switch over to AMSOIL and just stick with it. It's hard to beat their pricing if you buy directly from their website. Especially since they offer a yearly membership like Harbor Freight does which takes more off the price. It's hard to beat that IMO, especially since I already use AMSOIL in my chainsaws. Luckily my truck has realistic oil change intervals of 5,000 miles unlike some of these vehicles out there.
@@FarpointFarms I don't really do it for the fuel mileage, since it's a pickup there's only so much fuel mileage you're going to get from a big heavy vehicle. For me putting MMO in the gas helps it run a bit smoother and it will help the fuel system last longer. It might even help keep it clean as well. Fuel system parts are expensive so helping them last is a big plus. Since they came out with the new synthetic version I'll have to buy some of that strictly for oil changes. :)

Does it work just watch Roadkill or Vice Grip Garage they use this and Lucas and I know from personal experiences Lucas works on stubborn automatic transmissions.
Is the original formula going to be discontinued? I still have a few bottles, but I'd hate to run out! I use it mostly in older equipment. I remember SLICK50, only used it once. I liked DURALUBE, which I used in reloading ammunition for resizing brass cases. Haven't seen it for a while. Yeah, Project Farm does a good job on the technical aspects of his subjects. I've never tried any thing in my car but I get good mileage anyway out of my Honda's but if I can extend the motor life I would sure like to do so also do I do this before the oil change like some products or after the oil change I'm assuming after
I use about 5 oz and add it to the oil when its changed. Then near the end of the oil life, I add 10 oz for the last 150 miles. Keeps everything clean!

The video adds extra mystery, to the mystery - I find the information to conflict with the original MMO advise an picked-uip a couple of wive's tales in the 9min 55sec to add to my collection. But it was fun.
Dealers tell you on some vehicles every 10,000 miles. They know your going to ruin that engine if you do that. I change every 2500 - 3000 miles. Always have done that and my 4 vehicles all over 33 years old and never turned a bolt on the engines other than normal up keep.
I would be leary of using this in a direct injected engine in the oil. They require a different spec oil because of fuel diluting the oil at low speed. I read a test on using the original in diesel fuel. It was worthless VS just about everything out there. I do use the original in my 05, and 97 Buicks for the fuel only. The injectors in my 97 are original with 243K on them, look like new! 2oz per every 5 gallons of gas.
Can't speak for the new GDI engines as I am avoiding them due to the added complexity to the system. In my MPI, I get a 2.7% fuel economy increase. Worth it for that alone!
I have used both MMO and SEAFOAM for all of my outdoor equipment for the past 20 years without any Carburetor problems! 1 oz/gallon (of each) using standard 15% Ethanol 93 Octane Gasoline. What do you use as a "measuring device" for your Outdoor Equipment?

That’s why I’m your small gas engines, whether two or four cycle, you always use non-alcohol fuel.
I have worked on crop dusters most my life, We operated 9 cylinder radial engines in the beginning . we also ran the planes on car gas most of the time. I always added 1 gallon of Marvel to every 500 gallons of fuel. And we never had any valve problems. I don't care what it in it! I care that it does work! don't ever go over 5000 miles between oil changes. engines are expensive and oil is cheap when you think about!. Thanks for the videos!
Thanks for sharing- you make a great point, if it works, it works
I have used Marvel Mistery Oil for about 1955. My Dad and my Grandfather were using it before me. It has saved me often. The latest new thing I am doing with it is putting a tablespoon of Marvel per gallon of gas in four-cycle and two-cycle. I also use two-cycle oil in the gas for two cycles. I never put a stabilizer in the gas. Most of my engines go 20 years before needing a carburetor kit.
I've started using it in my small engines as well. Good stuff!
And of course clean fuel and filter changes. MMO was originally made to help the Marvel carburetor last longer. Then people discovered it was good for the oil system and gave lubrication properties to the fuel.
@@FarpointFarmsHow much per gallon? And what about 2-cycle? How much, and do you still use 2-cycle oil?
Your English is very Chinese bot like
I'd like to see MMO go back to the metal cans. Twice now, I've dropped the plastic quart bottles during the winter and had them break.
I agree with that! I cracked one trying to add oil to the gas and it was a total loss.
Don't leave them in the sun they will crumble in your hands
I had a quart bust open in my truck. A couple of my jackets have the scent of MMO forever now.
Completely recyclable
I bought a gallon at Walmart sat in my truck for two days in the bag, it’s was full of oil in the bag. Luckily nothing leaked out.
Sold engine parts for an industrial engine supplier . The F6-226 continental engines used in oil field pump jacks came with a top end lubricator that vaporized marvel into the intake made those engines last forever. Worn valve guides was the engine killer back then , never happened to those engines with the top end lubricator.
Too bad we can't go back to those days- I miss quality
Engines that run on natural gas/propane really need top end lube and hardened seats.
That is good to hear about your motorcycle
I add it to my gas tanks on my truck, and my motorcycle. I learned that from my Dad. God rest his soul.
I'm not sure if you know the history behind this but I'm the one that actually brought the team together on to my channel and we did a live stream and we answered questions for well over an hour
After bringing the Marvel team onto my channel they saw the need for a basic POLL
It consisted of what people wanted next and what I keep hearing was a additive that they can put in their turbocharged engines / high performance engines that would last long term and would not be a bother to the engine components or the power adder systems them self and what I found was they wanted a compatible additive version of the regular Marvel Mystery Oil and this I took back to the team and they began developing the product and I worked with them answering questions from time to time over the year that this took place and eventually was released to me first before anybody else and then it was released to other people afterwards
Not that it really matters on who got the product first but this is just a little bit of insight on how the product actually came about and it was something that I was trying to do to bring to the performance crowd and the people that wanted to run this in turbocharged applications and it pushed them into a mode of trying to develop this product quickly and they did a wonderful job of it
Great info! Hey, I'll also be at the ASTE meeting at the end of the month.

Can you add MMO to a full tank of gas?
I remember telling my dad in New York the car i
It’s rotting away but our exhaust is good maybe it’s the marvel just a guess love the stuff !
It’s not an engine flush it maintains good lubricant and and keep it in until the next oil change
II never ever go over 3000 miles sometimes I don’t use the car in the winter and I will change the oil at 200 miles I believe it stick on the parts and prevents rust .
Cool!
The first time I used it to clean out an engine, I was shocked at how filthy the oil was coming out of it. Now I put in a pint 200-300 miles before an oil change every time.
They have been around for 100 years, they must be doing something right
Why only before an oil change? Use 20-25% with the oil change and leave in there until next change, then do it again.

I add a little to the gas in all my 4 stroke small engines and my motorcycle. I think it helps lubricate and clean the valves. Even if it does nothing, it makes me feel good about using it.
I run it in mine as well. If I will put it in my car, why would I not use it in the small engines
Thanks for sharing!
ATP 205 Re-Seal Nuff Said.
Who sells that@@SmooveBee1
Definitely second the AT-205 recommendation
Had a 307 Olds V8 that at a bit over 100,000 miles burned a quart of oil between 3,000 mile oil changes. Replacing one quart of oil with a quart of Marvel cleared that right up.
Sticky rings are one think Marvel fixes really well!
Been doing it since 1981; keeps the lifters clean and quiet
Here is another use for the original Marvel oil. I use it to restore corroded aluminum. Basically I brush or spray bottle it and let it sit. Say under your car or truck your trans, differentials etc. I also have restored aluminum snowmobile engines that have sat out in the weather since the 1970’s. After coating the part for a few times, maybe weeks or months, you can come back and use a brass brush, nylon wheel and remove the rest. Besides soda blasting, this works great.
Thank you for sharing those tips! I will have to keep that in mind
phosphoric acid is in it, i.e clr clear
It’s also great as air tool oil. Thanks for sharing your tips !
So obviously if using in crankcase substitute so much MMO for Oil Correct? There's another product that has been around for a long time called AT-205 if you have a rear main seal leaking it's considered one of the best to stop a leak and it also can be used in a Transmission if it has a leak.
Yes, I leave out 1/2 a pint of oil and then add in this to my oil changes.
And the power steering.

Just bought this truck, so I don’t know any history.
it should help with the noisy lifters-
I agree, don't go past 5000 miles on an oil change unless you have an extra bypass filter installed.
That is what I plan on using the old stuff for. Flushes and fuel.
Have run Marvel for 35 years. Everything with a spark plug(s) gets some in the tank and in the crankcase.
Agreed- 10 years on a mower proves it
My grandfather introduced me to MMO in 1967. Good video. Good Luck, Rick
thank you for sharing that- I have had a few friends with some lifter noise, and it was the cure for it.
I hate the plastic they use, it seems to get brittle and crack- usually when I am not in the garage for a bit and come back to a mess
Does your truck have a catalytic converter? One ounce per gallon seems like a lot for a cat to handle.
Remember new synthetic formula is only for engine!! I use original mmo for my 2010 Mercedes benz s550 1/2 quart in motor oil. 4oz per 10 gallons in fuel amazing
I hope people will read that on the label- Just what you said about the engine only.
That's interesting that it does not seem to collect the dust/dirt. Thanks for sharing that
You mentioned using it in diesel fuel, just one question, does the red dye in the MMO show up in the diesel fuel and make it look like off road diesel, which could be a problem
No, it's such a small amount that it will not change the color of the fuel.
Agreed. 5K just makes sense. With cars costing an average of nearly 50K here now, why would anyone want to push their luck.
I just sold my BMW 530i with 400,000 miles and I changed at 15,000 miles intervals. Inaccurate info on here.
@@bmwlane8834 Did you use MMO with your oil?

Probably the other way around. If the specification of the filter os 10,000 miles, you can change the oil and leave the filter in. I used to do that on a vehicle with a difficult to reach filter. Only if the engine is dirty to begin with because of neglected maintenance, do you need to work about the filter. In general, low-end and non-name filters are good for 5000 miles at the most.
So did I here you say it can be added to the fuel tank? How much would one use in a 24 gal F-150 tank? Thanks for sharing this fine product with us.
Regular MMO is added 4oz to 10 gallons of fuel. This stuff is for oil use only.
I drive an '08 Scion xD. Same 2ZR-FE as the Toyota Corolla. I always do 10k - 15k mile oil changes. Full synthetic of course but I use Rislone instead of MMO. I have just shy of 280k miles on her right now!

@@DB-qm4jx I use whatever I can get. Nothing specific. I change it once a year.
Are you using the old style rislone 1qt bottles or the new 16oz high mileage bottles?
MMO needs to fix their Crap Caps on their bottles. Sometimes its almost impossible to get the cap off!
It's supposed to be child proof, but I think it's adult proof as well!
One of my customers put mmo in the brake master cylinder, it distorted all the seals, I had to rebuild the whole hydraulic system and flush the lines out
I have seen that happen with other fluids in the break system with similar results. What a mess
Using MMO in my Duramax fuel, 1 quart per tank. CP pump and injectors love it. Keeps combustion chamber clean.
Thanks for sharing that, people are always asking about using it with diesel
This is Wendell White. That's what I was researching about. I am curious as to the mmo helping out with the diesel fuel lubricant for expanding the life of the cp4.
I've started using the full synthetic for my usual 4 to 5k full synthetic oil change intervals, all on 4 cars that also used to receive a quart of regular MMO for the last 500 miles or so of an oil change interval (drain a quart, add a quart). Definitely curious to see the results in the oil. Still using the regular in the gas tank.
That is a good habit to get in to. I do 5k changes as well
I have used MMO in my fuel ⛽️ while using synthetic oil in my mowers and lawn 🚜. Never have I had a carburetor issue or anything.
It shows that if you do a little maintenance, it really does pay off.
Thanks for sharing that, I have heard from a few pilots saying that they use it still to this day.
Actually STP was a very good product at that time. Cars used carburetors that always ran rich ,deluted oil and washed the oil off the cylinders.STP 9:56 helped reduce that damage until fuel injection came out.
Cool, thanks for sharing that.
Another great additive for oil is motorkote.. farm projects did a test.. amazing stuff for lubrication.. i use mmo in my fuel as well

I'm using MMO for the 1st time on my 2021 4runner with 40k miles. I change my oil every 5k. After I add the MMO, do I wait for the next oil change at 5k or do you need to change oil earlier? Thank you.
I run it the whole time. I put a few oz in with my oil change and run it for the full 5K.

People have taken MMOs and tested it in labs. Seems like a legit product and good upper cylinder lubricant
the new formula has not been tested in the fuel system yet- I would use the older version still for the fuel system and the newer style in the oil.
Question: Is it best to add the mmo during an oil change, or a few hundred miles before an oil change?
For normal oil changes, I would do it with it
I used the synthetic version in my 0W-20 oil change at local dealer, and they forgot to put oil cap on and I drove up the road and back, and got oil every where, they cleaned it, and said everything was alright? Should I run this through to the next oil change, or should I change it sooner!
You should be OK. I've seen stuff like that happens and the mess it makes is usually the only issue it causes.
I put regular marvel mystery oil in my ⛽️ as directed on another video, 200,000 on engine ,and I noticed quite a difference, per full tank, used less gas .. ⛽️ I am tempted put about 3oz in each fillup ..??????
I put 2oz per fill up in my car and it's a happy camper!
Was a great ride for a long time, but can't be mixing conventional with synthetic, not compatible!!
you can use the original formula.
Great video. I was wondering if have heard anything about MMO old and/or new version, and 0W20 oil? Thank you.
I know the newer version recommends to use less of it.
I put mmo in a diesel pickup that would die At stop signs and lights. And before it was driven across town it stopped doing it. I put it in the fuel.
I am glad to hear that it helped fix your problem.
No, there would be no issues with using it at all. Sometimes I'll ad MMO and Berryman B12 to the gas at the same time and no issues there either.
I think I would feel more comfortable adding some close to when you do the oil change.
@FarpointFarms Agreed. 👍👍
Ive seen what MMO can do...Im a huge believer. I use it in everything.
Glad to hear that, I also use it in just about everything
I have always been a fan of Marvel, they used to be in Port Chester, NY, drove past their building when I was younger, they were across from the Lifesavers building
That would have been cool to see
I have used Marvel Mystery Oil on and off for over 50 years. My grandfather used it forever and my grandfather had been around long enough that he was selling whippet cars. I will stick with the original thank you.

Vintage motorcycles love MMOil! Carried the small plastic pint bottle for years touring cross country, Roughly 1 oz. per gallon of fuel, top end and cylinders on air cooled bikes run better. Good for valves too!
That was a smart idea to bring it with you. No reason not to add it
How do you know if you NEED to use something like this? Is it alright for modern vehicles? Model year 2000+?? Does it Hurt to use on motors with 75k+ miles?
It won't hurt any make or model car, no matter what the mileage. I use it in my 2021 with 20K on it as well as my 1995 with 343K on it.
Lol....slick 50 saved the engine in my old 69 chevy pickup...but I use MMO...great stuff...I will try it...I add a few ounces of MMO in my mowers gas tank...keeps the valves and pistons clean..
Sounds great!
I've used MMO in my gas since the 80's and never had an issue. It does give a boost in fuel mileage but not too huge.
Thinking about using that on a 5.7 hemi that has some lifter noise
It's perfect for that issue. Good luck!
Thanks!
good segment. i didn't know they came out with a synthetic blend. good to know. I used to use the original in my fill-ups. i have gone to Lucas for my Echo-diesel. I just did an oil change and tune up on my little cub cadet mower. i might add a couple of ounces to my mower crank case as i need to start taking better care of riding mower. Thanks for the video.
Give it a shot. It's working great in my Mirage.
Slick 50 is still around, you can get it in any Auto Parts Store, Oh and I love MM Oil, been using it for a loooooong time
I have not thought of that in a long time
Hello, I have a question. I do regular 3,000 mile oil changes. My truck has a high flow oil pump. Can I still use marvel mystery oil with my oil changes? Thank you
Most certainly!
I have a 2007 gmc sierra 1500 classic. It has 386,000 miles. What other products would you recommend to keep it running good. Lucas complete engine treatment? Or MOM is all I need. Thank you and your videos are very helpful!!
MMO*
I have used Marvel Mystery Oil for years,a fantastic product
They would not be around for 100 years if it did not work
Does it work just watch Roadkill or Vice Grip Garage they use this and Lucas and I know from personal experiences Lucas works on stubborn automatic transmissions.
I will check them out
I use the OG version just before i change oil,and i use it in my gas too.
Smart man-
Is the original formula going to be discontinued? I still have a few bottles, but I'd hate to run out! I use it mostly in older equipment. I remember SLICK50, only used it once. I liked DURALUBE, which I used in reloading ammunition for resizing brass cases. Haven't seen it for a while. Yeah, Project Farm does a good job on the technical aspects of his subjects.
I drive "old junk" too! LOL And as a cast member on Guild Garage, I have used MM in a 1935 Bugatti. Thanks for the video!
Marvel has no plans to discontinue the original MMO. It's still great in all cars as well as use in gas.
@@FarpointFarms That's a relief. I love the stuff!
It’s a good general-use light oil, too. I keep some on hand…
I had an engine that I poured Duralube in while it was running and within a few seconds it started to idle faster.
@@TheLionAndTheLamb777 That stuff was *incredibly* slippery. I wonder if it's still available?
Edit to add: Yes, it is! I should pick up a bottle, and order another case of MMO. Stay well!
Thank you for sharing this video.😊
Thanks for watching!
Anyone remember Marvels Inverse oilers? A friend used it on his propane squarebody. Over 300,000 miles on a 350 sb.
I do, those engines with it, ran forever
It has been good for years, I started using it in 1968.
That should tell you something if you have been using it for 50+ years
Isn't the original MMO primarily Stoddard Solvent?
MMO is a mystery to me. All I can say for sure it that it works. Just used it this past week to free up stuck rings on a road runner that's been sitting for 7 years.
How would you compare this to seafoam?
This is more gentle than seafoam- Seafoam is more solvent than MMO so it will do more cleaning quicker than MMO
Still haven't seen it on the shelf.
It's been out for years, I catch it at Walmart from time to time
Marvel mystery oil & and Schaefer's engine oil are the products that I use pretty much exclusively if you've never heard of Schaefer's oil you should look into it they've been in business since 18 something another many many years
I have not heard of the but I will check them out. I am always looking for good products
@@FarpointFarms If you do I'd be curious about what you think. They have all sorts of oil, gear oil, fuel add and many others products
Sorry for such a silly question when you do add this to your oil do you supplement the oil meaning you don't put as much oil in for the 10 oz of the marvels? I've never tried any thing in my car but I get good mileage anyway out of my Honda's but if I can extend the motor life I would sure like to do so also do I do this before the oil change like some products or after the oil change I'm assuming after
I use about 5 oz and add it to the oil when its changed. Then near the end of the oil life, I add 10 oz for the last 150 miles. Keeps everything clean!
I use Marvel Mystery Oil as a fuel system cleaner. It works great for that purpose, much better than other fuel system cleaners.
Thanks for sharing that
I was gonna use desiel but didn’t have a gas can on me, I had to go to the auto shop for some oil and I got marvel.i put some marvel with 2 quarts of fresh oil in my sierra 1500 and idle it for 15 min, flushed it and added another 2 quarts and idled it for 15 min and when I flushed it the oil was looking fresh.the first flush was black.i then changed my oil put the 8 quarts in and I can feel the different.gmc is known for hard shifting shit trucks in general but that seem to go away.the sluggishness is gone my truck feels like when I first pulled it out the lot
The stuff works!
Any thoughts on differential use?
I would not risk it, I would stick to what it recommends
I use mmo in all of my air tools daily or when ever I use them.......
Many people do, I have heard may bicyclists will use it to oil their chain since it does not attract dirt/grime like some lubricants
I use it as a tool cleaner/protecting layer
thanks for sharing your tips- I have heard others say they used it for cleaning
Why is this product not even on their website?
It is literally brand new and just rolling out across the country.
@@FarpointFarms yes I realize that but it's their product, it's for sale at AutoZone down the street from my house yet crickets on their website.
You talking about project farm. Just got me to subscribe to your channel.
Thanks for subbing- I really appreciate it
Slick 50, Prolong, and Duralube. Gone and forgotten.
I have not thought about slick 50 in years- maybe that is why
The video adds extra mystery, to the mystery - I find the information to conflict with the original MMO advise an picked-uip a couple of wive's tales in the 9min 55sec to add to my collection. But it was fun.
Didn't really understand what you were trying to say, but OK.
Does it still come in the 100 yr old plastic bottle that breaks?
Their plastic is not the best-
I got a 2000 LS400 that have been sitting for 5 to 7 years rangood
I think this stuff would help you out. make sure to get rid of the old gas first
Dealers tell you on some vehicles every 10,000 miles. They know your going to ruin that engine if you do that. I change every 2500 - 3000 miles. Always have done that and my 4 vehicles all over 33 years old and never turned a bolt on the engines other than normal up keep.
I'm the same way. NEVER go 10,000 miles on an oil change. 5K with Synthetic, or 3500 with regular.
The manufacturers push out the maintenance intervals to make the cost of ownership look cheaper.
UGH- that is such bad advice- Oil changes need to be done ever 5k not 7500 or 10k
There are some notches on the side of the bottle to do the measuring- I use about a half bottle give or take.
Can i use this on my 83 454 carburetored
Certainly! It's perfect for it.
Bro just came home after buying the regular marvels and saw the full synthetic, tuned into TH-cam and saw this on my recommended
AI read's our mind.
I got 2010 kia forte 2.0l do i put the whole bottle in the engine? Or 9oz
I use 1/2 for the oil and a few oz for the fuel.
@@FarpointFarms so 4 oz in engine oil
Been using this for many years. Fuel and oil. Every time I get fuel I do the same as you.
It is a great habit to have
