Had me going for a minute thinking it was this year's ice, but when you said mid-December at 4:23, I realized it was last year, today being Nov. 30, 2024. Don't know why you waited 'til yesterday to put it up. Anyway, beautiful fish. Making me hongry for first ice here in the Adks. Looks promising with all next week below freezing. Gotta finish deer season first though. Then it's ice fishing and rabbit hunting. I just don't understand skiing...
First time viewer. Enjoyed your video tremendously. Didn't quite catch the jig names or see them in the information, if you have the chance please let us know. THANK YOU for creating and sharing this content. TIGHT LINES ALL
Man I need that fish 😂. 👍 maybe I will finally chase it this winter. Instead of rainbows sauger walleye pike lake trout Brooke trout small mouth etc in my area. Sure you sold me
Nice video man!! Great start to the season! I'll have to try perching with a jaw jacker and drop shot too. Also might steal your battery bank and gopro idea too. Haha. I just touched up my auger blades with a hook sharpener file last year and it helped cut the ice much faster, in case you find yours getting dull...
Thanks, definitely! The battery banks the only way to go in cold temperatures the batteries just fail all the time. Blades are always dull around here there’s just too much sand on the ice!
@darylgilbertoutdoors I'm slowly going away from gopros, I think both the insta360 ace pro and dji actions have better features and reliability. my gopros fails me too much... hurts the most with hunting, you only have one shot. Haha
They make hand held carbide sharpeners designed for auger blades and man they get razor sharp. Effortless ice cutting. Just let the weight of the auger do the cutting for you. No need for down pressure. Well worth the investment.
Thank you! Wow! Nothing better than Lake Perch. I like it better than Walleye, er I mean Pickerel, eh.
Haha we call them walleyes too
@@darylgilbertoutdoors hey g00f
Cant wait for first ice in upstate NY
The best time of year! Good luck out there
I never saw a perch this big yet I caught one on through the ice and in the summer 2024😮 was good eating ❤❤ Love the video hope to see more!!
Thanks! More to come

I’ll fish trout any day of the week but it’s nice to mix it up once in awhile!
Beauty perch 👍 Did you guys not get the dump of snow we did in AB? It has totally screwed with early ice formation this year
Oh we did, it’s doing the same to the ice here now
Is this at one of your camps? Well done, nice outing
Just around home!

Hello! Which lake is this? Southern Sask? I didnt think the ice would be thick enough yet!
The ice is bad in places still , be safe out there
Turn on the video and dude pulls a peacock bass through the ice within 2 minutes? Nice toads, good luck on the 24/25 season!
Haha thanks, you too!

@darylgilbertoutdoors damn I wanna get into some perch I moved from ontario and was told there hard to find in alberta
There’s some good perch in Alberta but it will be hard to get any info on where they are. Guys are very protective of the perch there!
@darylgilbertoutdoors I noticed that ahahaahaha I'll be doing some research I guess!
Hopefully you can find somewhere to catch some giants!
Dang well done. No shore lunch? 😂
Thanks, haha nope not this time !

That’s normally want people who can’t afford it say
Hahaha, sounds like a personal problem
Salt lol
Catch and release is very important especially the big ones. Nothing wrong with catching.
Always practice catch and release!
