5 Massive Reasons Why you Should be Eating Ginger on Keto- Thomas DeLauer
I promise this isn't going to be some cheesy video on the basic benefits of ginger. I wanted to do something a little bit different and in the world of a low carb diet or just a high fat diet in general, ginger has a plethora of benefits. I've been a fan of ginger for a long time, but I think it's due time that I have a video that specifically talks about the benefits of ginger for a lower carb protocol, like why it's doing certain things, why you should be adding ginger as much as you can throughout the day. Cooking with it, adding it to your water, whatever. All right, so let's just cut right to the chase.
Okay. The first thing, so the low carb or a keto diet or anything like that, it's all about keeping blood sugar stable. Issues with keto arise when blood sugar is bouncing around. It's blood sugar gets high, ketone levels get low. Then you start losing the benefits. You don't feel as good and you're just all over the place. So with the ketogenic diet, we want blood sugar stable. When we have ginger in the mix, it's very, very powerful at modulating blood sugar in a really interesting way. In fact, there was a study that was published. It took a look at 41 participants that were type two diabetics and they gave them either a placebo or they gave them ginger. They wanted to measure this for a period of weeks and see what would happen. They found that the group that had the ginger had a significant reduction in blood sugar and A1C, whereas the group that received placebo had no change in blood sugar and actually saw an increase in A1C overall.
Benefit number two, and this is great if you have trouble digesting fats or perhaps if you have no gallbladder or a gallbladder issue, ginger has been proven to improve bile levels. So basically it improves fat digestion by helping out bile secretion. So the Journal of Ethnopharmacology published a study and they found that literally consuming ginger, because of the acetone byproducts of ginger in our body, allowed more bile to be produced.
Now at first they thought that it just increased the ejection of the bile from the gallbladder. But upon further research with other studies, it's been found that it looks like the ginger itself or the acetone byproducts of ginger once metabolized, just stimulate the production of bile. So this is really, really good news because there's people out there that don't have gallbladders. So if we just improved the ejection of the bile from the gallbladder, then there would be a problem. But bile is made in the liver. So if ginger is actually just improving the bile secretion because it's stimulating production, that's what we want. So it's now going to help you actually metabolize more fat and hopefully burn more fat.
All right, now let's talk about some interesting stuff surrounding nausea and the keto flu. If you're going into keto and you're dealing with just that nauseous feeling of transitioning into keto, you probably are dealing with the keto flu. Well, there's lots of ways that you can combat that. Electrolytes and this and that, but one of the ways that you can directly at least stop the nausea, is by consuming a little bit of ginger. Now this is common knowledge. In fact, it's kind of been used as a morning sickness remedy for a long time. But the way that it works is it stops the signaling of the vagus nerve. So that vagus nerve, it's a good and bad thing. It sends signals from the gut up to the brain, but it can also send those signals that make us nauseous.
So anyhow, don't forget the ginger. Add it to your food, add it to your drinks. It's certainly not going to hurt anything and it tastes pretty darn good and it makes it so you're not craving other foods. As always, keep it locked in here on my channel. We'll see you soon.

I used ginger everyday in my ACV tonic along with lemon juice, turmeric, matcha, potassium, magnesium and Real Salt on the road to loosing 56lbs! In Ayurveda dry ginger and fresh ginger are used a little differently as they have different qualities. I've used it profusely for decades; used to buy 1lb bags of organic powder and use fresh.

I make jasmine green tea with the ginger tea and make crystallized ginger with the ginger. I know Sugar isn’t good to have all the time but crystallized ginger saves indefinitely and then I’ll eat it when I’m having a nausea emergency. It’s saved me from actually throwing up probably more then a dozen times.

Grocery store dried ginger is about useless. Interestingly, in the ancient system of Ayurveda, from a culture that uses ginger extensively, dried ginger and fresh have slightly different applications. I love fresh but I've always purchased dry also in 1lb bags wholesale from Frontier Cooperatives. It's so amazingly fresh and potent that the jar lid it's stored in gets sticky. They're the original non-irradiated herb people. They never use additives and work fairtrade.

SURPRISE: In this case, dried ginger is actually more beneficial
"Ground ginger contains some different medicinal benefits than raw ginger root. The process of creating ground ginger reduces the amount of gingerol it contains. Gingerol is the active component of root ginger that provides many medicinal health properties. However, although the dehydration process decreases gingerol it also increases levels of the compound shogaol. Shogaols are believed to have many health benefits and properties that root ginger does exhibit, especially those of memory and cognitive enhancing properties. So dried ginger if offering benefits from both gingerol and shogaol."

You'll find that anything that tastes good with garlic will taste good with ginger in it too (like bone broth and salad dressings), and you get the health benefits of BOTH ginger and garlic!!😃 ALSO the ginger takes the harsh edge off the garlic and vice-versa so it's easier to eat raw! (like magic, Pretty Incredible)👍 AND because it's mixed in sea salt it literally stays good in the refrigerator Forever (For months and months; 6 months or longer!).. TRY IT YOU'LL LIKE IT!!!

I am asking myself, what's that in ginger that increases my craving to him. And when you combine Himalayan salt, ginger and olive/coconut oil as a dressing... man! So simple so good Everybody asks how's that I am skinny and eat so much fat... I may find the answer!? But I am doing extreme low carb since my 16th... (now I have 31). Only recently I heard that everything I did many years was keto even carnivore... Low blood sugar, mental clarity, fasting, high-fat cuts, fish, no processed food, only leafy greens... I saw this and went and bought 24 pack of ginger ale!! Thank you Tom! I always wondered if ginger ale was better than coke or Pepsi! Now I know.

John Stockman soda/pop/soft drinks I don’t support. First of all ginger I know sounds like ginger ale but am not sure what fruit or vegetable is Pepsi or coke. It is said Ginger ale and sprite has natural ingredients. #ginger and #lime but this I believe depends on the brand. Besides cleaning coke is good for diarrhea.also a study said that the coke from Mexico is better than the one from America as relates to its sweetener.

I can’t stand the taste of ginger so I fill capsules with powdered ginger. I buy an organic powdered ginger from iHerb, not the stuff from the supermarket. In 6 months, my ESR has gone from 15 to 1! So yes, the dried stuff still works.
A little tip though. I was getting ginger flavoured reflux from the capsules at first. Someone suggested that if I eat just a teensy bit of ginger, just enough that my taste buds detect it, that my stomach will be expecting it and the reflux won’t happen. It works. I tried a few ways of getting that in, but the best by far is a spiced hot cocoa with maybe 1/16 tsp of a chai spice mix (cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, clove). It has become a lovely nighttime routine that I look forward to.

Procreation is a complex issue with me. At first it was difficulty finding someone I was actually interested in or attracted to. Now it's giving up the dream of space adventures & coming to grips with what I may have lost bedding some lame nag. I have no money/something to offer, & I know I may have better luck on a roulette wheel, but I've placed my chips on Spaceship Jesus & space adventures with Amazonian Spacechics. It can sure make for a lot of lonely nights, but it's saved me from a lot of other unwanted issues. Plus I've created something special.
