I recently bought a Dima from a guy I shoot with. He must have gotten a few extra so I bought one and really like it. I use an Edgewood donut and lined the bottom of the donut with a piece of rubberized drawer liner. It really locks the whole thing in. Thanks for sharing John.
Just got mine in yesterday. I've got the bottom filled the way I want with the Spexlite heavy sand in the bottom. The Forester funnel and drop tube is great, by the way. The ears are giving me some trouble. I'm having trouble getting the walnut media (from Lyman) into the ears - it just doesn't "flow" as well. Have heard that mixing that with talcum power can help. Any tips from you on filling the ears? Have you tried the walnut mixed with talcum powder? Thanks for all the work you put in to providing such useful and valuable information to the all of us. Your expertise, candor, and vulnerability are all greatly appreciated.
@@FClassJohn Got it all squared away. Sent Dima some pics from my first range session with it and he ended up posting them on his FB page a few days ago. Thought that was cool of him to do. I've enjoyed interacting with him - seems like a really good dude. Planning a proper build down the line and will certainly be going to him for the stock. Thanks again for the recommendation here and for the continued great content.Holler if you get to Nashville!

John Can you tell me way you ordered the Cordura vs Teflon. I have an Edgewood bag now and it has 3m Slick ears. I just got a Dima Stock and it is 3/4 so I need a new rear bag.
I just prefer fabric over the 3m from a durability standpoint but even from that standpoint my current Dima bag with the 3m bottom is about 3 years old and still going strong. The way he makes them you really can't go wrong either way.
I have a Anschutz 1913 with a U2 stock. what ear width would work best. It's shaped like a upside down tear drop looking from the end. It's about 1/2" at bottom then tapers up to 1 1/2" width about 1 1/2 up from bottom. Appreciate any advice.
.5" is about 12.7mm. He currently offers a 10mm and a 14mm so you're kind of in the middle. Personally I usually error on the side of tighter but 12.7mm to 14mm is a really small margin. I would recommend emailing them and asking as they know when to bump up or down on sizes to fit accordingly.
I can understand that. Everyone has a different preference especially when it comes to ears. Not sure if you've seen it but Dima is making a small ear version too.
I was watching how your shoot - how bizarre that you pull the trigger so quick without keeping your finder on the trigger first! Is that how pros shoot?
Some do. Some hover their finger right in front of the trigger. My trigger is less than an ounce so there’s no way to put my finger on the actual trigger before pulling.
I use a combination of walnut media in the ears with a plastic and sand fill in the base. My goal is a balance of weight and stability since I have to fly and travel with it.
It helps level out the bag on uneven ground plus because there's nothing in the middle it allows rear bags (as they get old and sag on the bottom) to sit level without causing any kind of rocking or such.
John
That's not wood. That's Leather. like Cowboy boot sole leather. very dense, very stiff but you can sew it with a proper sewing machine.
Thank you for the correction, I'm not sure why I stated it was wood.
@@FClassJohn the base structure is wood, or very well done wood grain leather……..?
@@wrstew1272 yes leather.
It always make me geek out watching you bench rest guys literally taping the trigger. Awesome setup!

Oh really? Dima is a Russian first name lol, stands for Dmitry.
Love my Dima rear bag and donut
Very well made
"I really love the bunghole"
Worthy quote.
Going with a taller bag setup for next year. This is exactly was I was going to buy. Thanks for the preview & comments.
Glad it helped!

Glad you like it and I use the 21st Century filling tube and I haven't had any issues with walnut media in the ears.

Thx John very topical. Iam looking at a new bag.
Nice bags for sure, he also makes a decent rifle stock, although I can't go past my Lenzi rear bag, that rear bag is a pure joy to use.
That's awesome John!
Thank you for sharing your expertise
Glad it was helpful!
Very good looking. There products are all good
I don’t think can you go wrong with a Lenzi, they’re just perfect. I love mine! (I use a Dima stock and have tried both the Dima and Lenzi Rear Bag)

@FClassJohn How do you go about figuring out which height to use? How do you measure that?
Was looking at their web site. I'm assuming thats the High Angled?
It’s the high straight.
What sand are you using John? Heavy on the bottom and silica in the ears?

Hi John. Planning to buy one also. Whats the height on your bag? Thanks great info.
I have the high bag with 17mm to match my 5/8” rear keel.
Nice review, who make the stock on the rifle you were shooting?
Here's the video I made on getting them made. th-cam.com/video/_1U_-rR92yA/w-d-xo.html
Not sure that I liked what i saw when you was firing it. How does it track ?
So far no issues.
Ive had one for a good year or so, they are made very well although i am not a fan of how tall the ears are.
I can understand that. Everyone has a different preference especially when it comes to ears. Not sure if you've seen it but Dima is making a small ear version too.
@@FClassJohn I haven’t seen it but I will look into it. Appreciate the heads up!

I have this bag, with the small ears, works great, also with my ajustable bag rider, I bought this one for that.
What are the dimensions of the cleaning protector, please and thank you. Nice lit.
Roughly 13.5" long and 12" wide
Jesus, how many grams is that trigger ?

What height bag did you get? I see he makes 3 heights o flat top bags.
Sorry about that, I forgot to mention that. I have the High Bag.
what do you use to fill this bag ??
I use this stuff. spexlite.com
What are you using for fill?
I use a combination of walnut media in the ears with a plastic and sand fill in the base. My goal is a balance of weight and stability since I have to fly and travel with it.
Cool.. my name is Dima too :))
What is the purpose of the donut?
It helps level out the bag on uneven ground plus because there's nothing in the middle it allows rear bags (as they get old and sag on the bottom) to sit level without causing any kind of rocking or such.
What did you fill it with?
The ears are walnut media and the body of the bag is a combination of plastic beads and sand.
The best rear bag I have ever owned. I have owned 12 rear bags for F Class competition. The bag is made in Ukraine. How about that.
My name is F-Class Bungholio.

The doughnuts will become your rear bag if you are not careful.
Bungholio lol sorry couldn't help it.
$200?
Yep. That puts it in the middle of the price range for high-end read bags. A little more than a Seb or Protektor and less than Edgewood or Lenzi.
That old eastern block country is Ukraine! You may have caught it in the news recently 🤦♂
