    I was spending my vacation in Hungary with my family. Best place ever I see. Much better than any part of North America, including Canada, Florida...
    Perfect weather with four seasons, friendly people, prices are cheap, delicious food, beautiful women ☺... We love Hungary! Best wishes from Canada.

    Hungarians didn't came from slovakia. Nonsense. "slovakia" was not a thing back then it was part of hungary,. (really offensive to be honest). Slofakia was born in 1920 (as the part of todays czech republic) at Trianon. So the right story is, pozsony/bratislava was a Hungarian city which was always a really important city and we can talk about Slovakia's existence only AFTER trianon.

      Mate Slovakia and Magyarorszag = Hungary. Magyaorszag was born as well in 1920 independent from Habsburgs so you manage country on your own now without German influence.

      From your source: - second paragraph...
      From 1867 territories connected to the Hungarian crown were incorporated into Austria-Hungary under the name of Lands of the Crown of Saint Stephen. The monarchy ended with the deposition of the last king Charles IV in 1918, after which Hungary became a republic. The kingdom was nominally restored during the "Regency" of 1920-46, ending with the Soviet occupation in 1946.[8]
      The Kingdom of Hungary was a multiethnic state from its inception[10] until the Treaty of Trianon and it covered what is today Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Transylvania and other parts of what is now Romania, Carpathian Ruthenia (now part of Ukraine), Vojvodina (now part of Serbia), Burgenland (now part of Austria), and other smaller territories surrounding present-day Hungary's borders.

    • @Lazarushun
      @Lazarushun 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      If you are talking about the position on the map you are correct.
      However we rather consider ourselves Eastern Europeans.
      It's either West or East, no such thing as Central in our culture

    • @Glanthor88
      @Glanthor88 7 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      i rather consider ourselves Central Europeans. That's what i learnt in school.

    • @Kegyetleneper
      @Kegyetleneper 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      well I would rather consider ourselves as central europeans. Why would you want to be compared to ukrains and romanians?

    • @adamfarkas579
      @adamfarkas579 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      There is a central culture which is mostly influenced by Germany (legal system, education etc.). The East/West thing was only valid during the Cold War but actually there are more regions that this two and they are all quite different. Sweden for example is not West but rather North (and it is similar to the other nordic countries), Italy is not West either, but South, and so is Spain, and they also have stuff in common. The East/West thing is very artificial, it's like dividing the US into East and West only, while there is the Midwest, the South etc. and they certainly don't belong to the same region.

    • @siililiik
      @siililiik 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      EargasmChannel There is such a thing as Cental Europe in our culture, obviously. Just like North and South Europe. So your "either West or East" statement couldn't be more incorrect. There was 40-50 years of Cold War but it's long over, we 're back to the "usual" as before.
      If you don't believe me, check this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Europe

    • @temperateortropical161

      Atanas : To me, the distinction (between Central & Eastern Europe) is 3-fold:
      (a) whether the country is in the V4
      (b) how long / to what extent it was overrun by the Ottoman Empire (i.e. did it pay the Blood Tax of the Janissaries?
      (c) how closely connected it remains to Russia After the early '90s (officially '89, but let's not quibble).

    The word paprika has a more extended meaning there. In English, it's a deep red ground spice. In Hungarian, paprika simply means pepper, in any shape and form. Any pepper, except black pepper, for which there's a different word. The most common paprika is the yellow pepper there, it's fresh and not spicy at all. So paprika potato contains mostly fresh vegetable, instead of that hot ground spice. Ground red pepper is a famous export product, and it's used in Hungarian cuisine, but only with moderation.

    Omg, you pronounced Budapest correctly!!! Thank you!!! You are one of the only foreigners who do so!!! Much love for it! ...great video, really enjoyed it! Oh by the way, the only thing that I would correct is the section on our history! Please read up on that a bit, and correct it. Hungary was a huge kingdom from 895 (for about 1000 years!!) then later had to unite with Austria, but that didn't happen until 1867 and lasted until 1918! We lost 2/3 of our original territories (that was ours for at least 1000 years!) during the World Wars, which is when Czechoslovakia was artificially created (the Czechs had their own country prior to this but Slovaks did not, so Slovakia was carved out of our Hungarian territories!)
    When you look at the map of Europe today, and zoom in on Hungary, look at all the surrounding countries because each of those countries got a big chunk from Hungary.
    Romania got Transylvania, Yugoslavia got Vojvodina, Ukraine got Transcarpathia, Austria got Burgerland, etc. the list goes on! So all these countries have still plenty of Hungarian culture, building, people, and so on. It's really very interesting!

    Wow, I went to Budapest last winter - mid January I believe it was - but the atmosphere of the city wasn't so different. I'm impressed because it seems like the weather now is pretty hot whereas I experienced the city with an iced Danube and by approximately -7°C
