- How Madara Uchiha became an Icon, not only in anime, but pop culture in general. Madara was introduced later in Naruto Shippuden but his presence was felt throughout the story for much longer than that, ever sinse the Naruto vs Sasuke fight in the valley of the end. Madara vs Hashirama, Madara vs 5 Kage, Madara vs Might Guy, Madara vs Naruto and Sasuke, and Madara vs Ninja Alliance were all amazing fights, and contriubted to create the Legend of Madara Uchiha.
But there's much more than that. In this video we will explore why and how Madara became such an iconic character and the impact he had in the Naruto Series.

concerning madara's ending , Kishimoto wanted to make another end to the story but due to the lack of budget he had to shorten the original version and we got this bad ending
Madara actually got obliterated from the 2 meteor drop. He got back because he was edo tensei. So we can scale him to deidara. Imagine edo deidara exploding himself and killing everything in a 10km radius. Even people survived the meteor but nobody can survive deidara's explosion. Most people tend to forget this feat. Upto that point, Deidara had the most impressive AoE feat in Naruto.

@@D_Owo Madara who was one of the most badass villains in Shonen with a ton of depth via an incredibly morally grey philosophy and has a bunch of correct criticisms about the hypocrisy of the Shinobi world gets shafted in favor of a 1 dimensional, personalityless evil alien who's whole motivation is that she's evil. She also ruins the theme of the Pain arc by being responsible for literally every bad thing in the world and she also prevents us from getting a satisfying conclusion to one of the best villains in Shonen. She's also the worst antagonist I've ever seen in any media.

Madara's English voice is so good. I think that's honestly a big part of what made him stand out to a lot of people. The deep tone combined with a casual and superior attitude just made him really feel like he was better than anyone else.

Idk man I'm not an English native speaker or japanese, but I really think the dub is "ok" at best. His original voice is different and also the language makes him more menacing then any of the stuff I've heard in English lol just looks like a "gringo" Madara y'know? Though, regarding the Dub version of Madara's voice by Neil Kaplan- I still thought that voice was fitting for him. But I know some will prefer the Sub over the Dub in general. I love both.
Madara showed up 600 episodes late, dead, and with a cup of Starbucks. Kicked everyone's collective ass, including 2 kages, and then threw two meteors at everyone.
You can't really beat that level of swag.

Honestly I don’t know which voice exactly is a complete disaster on dub. I have watched everything on sub but even dub is good. Voice of Gaara, Sasuke, Itachi and Obito (pretending to be Madara) and like that. Not bad at all.

I love Hashirama's ex. Kind of a loser, but that's really most his charm. His family died, his clan turned their backs on him even though he was kind right about the Uchiha being systematically oppressed, Tobirama stole his job, his boyfriend went straight and married someone else, he lost almost every fight he ever participated in, spent the rest of his life as a hermit living underground devoid of human contact save for a little orphan boy he abducted, got out schemed by said little boy and ended up getting the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki equivalent of sloppy seconds, his plan to save the world was to become a god who just sit for the rest of eternity in boredom while everyone else got to live their best lives inside a tree, he was tricked and killed off by sentient goo with a momma's boy complex, and to top it off he was given the Kisame treatment by Guy in Boruto.

Im sorry but you dropped the ball with that whole bias against dub thing because Madara in the dub is just as good if not better both VA's made master pieces though and i cannot stand some of the sub voices there are the only Naruto dub character voices that ive even heard people complain about are Naruto(because he is voiced acted by the person who plays principal perry in labrats which makes it hard for people to take Naruto seriously at first) and Sakura(in part 1 her voice is just annoying but i liked it in Shippuden)

I loved this video and I agree with you on everything EXCEPT Madara's English voice actor. That's one of the best dubs not just in Naruto, but in anime in general. Not in anyway inferior to the Japanese I'd say just as good if not better.

I think Kishimoto should of had given further backstory from Madaras perspective as well, I feel like it would of done a better job showing details that some miss about Madara, because I see so many think he was just a war mongering psychopath, which couldn't be further from the truth. It could of explained better why he stops trusting Hashirama and their past dream, I believe there was more to it than the glimpses shown in Hashirama's story, also it is so strange we never learn his Mangekyo abilities.
About him managing to defy the edo tensei I don't really think that was a problem except for not explaining how he did it, but there are some perfectly acceptable headcanons how Madara knew the signs needed to break the jutsu and one answer is unfortunately Black Zetsu as it was shown the 2 of them can communicate telepathically with each other and Black Zetsu knows the signs from when Obito was shown by Kabuto how the jutsu works.
Madara deserved better, but he lives on in our hearts and in Kishimotos design of adult Sasuke (also in the new Sasuke retsuden manga in some action panels Sasuke looks way too much like Madara).
Last thing I want to say is that
People need to chill with Dub vs Sub debate this is not what the video is about, they are both good, but different people have different preferences.
Actually I think Madaras end, by black zetsu is good for him, not for naruto of course, but for him;
He is never defeated in universe, he had to be brought down by the author directly - through a redcon that also sacked the story (even further) - so Madra even went even with the Author;
He isnt brought down by power of friendship bull shit, but by the meta level of the Author, this means for many that he is not tarnished by defeat or failure;
And again, the author had to "ruin his story" to take care of him - thats a dub in my eyes.

The main reason Madara left Konoha or went rogue is *not* just because he had no place in the village, his clan turning their back against him, or bc Tobirama will bring downfall to his clan, *but* because Izuna isn't there with him anymore, his brother who was his reason to wish for peace in the first place.

Izuna's death was the root cause of how Madara went rogue and why his own clan abandoned him. Would a clan really follow Madara who failed to save his own brother and his entire clan when he had the chance to? (referring to Hashirama offering a peace treaty at EP 368/Ch 624)

It just really proves how much impact the death of Madara's brother affected Madara in his development as the story's villain. It's just a shame how Izuna, as a character, didn't get enough depth into the story but still played a role. He is still yet to be acknowledged or recognized by a lot of viewers/readers in the fandom. It is overlooked many times that Madara was a loving character, who had only one thing he wanted to protect but was taken away from him. ..And this is why I love Madara as a character and a villain.

Bro put some respect on Neil Kaplan's name. It's the main reason so many people even watched the dub. Dub Madara was way more deep and intimidating than sub. Sub sounded like a seasoned war veteran past his prime, dub sounded like a man planning to do Thanos levels of feats. I usually don't praise dub that much but I have to make exception on this because Neil Kaplan knocked it out the park with this performance.
People always forget that when all of those reanimated characters showed off their strength they were in Edo Tensi and had unlimited chakra reserves so a lot of their feats that they did probably could not have been done so casually otherwise

How didn’t Sauske know who Madara was.Madara was probaly most important Uchiha and Sauske was a super student.
Maybe because he was 7 when his clan was wiped off, at 7 he mainly trained in basics and ninjutsu to impress his brother and get his father's approval, he probably wasn't studying shinobi history at that age.
This is an interesting topic. Have you wondered about the fact that the Hidden Village ops and shadow division might have white washed anything related to the Uchihas aside from the statue of Madara and Hashirama. Also with the fact a lot of Uchiha secrets and history are riddled in the Uchiha stone tablet which they can easily read. We can also back up with the fact how it is taboo to talk openly about that 9 tails attack which affected Naruto's upbringing...but I digress

I vehemently disagree. I love the demise of Madara.
I actually like the plot twist in the end. The problem with the twist is that the kaguya fight and kaguya herself isn't fleshed out well enought throughout the series' lore. What kaguya represents isn't as compelling as Madara, because we don't get to see the buildup enough.
Kaguya is obviously inspired by the legend of princess kaguya, and seeing how the tale was told, I believe kishimoto, if given far more time, care, and skill writing kaguya, she would also be an iconic, compelling, and tragic villain.
Madara's demise represented something. Something compelling---hatred, delusion, and illusions.
I'll leave it at that here.
I like Madara as a villain, he is as iconic as Frieza, but what makes him different from how Dragonball writes their villain is precisely his downfall, which was swift, unexpected, and cold. It wasn't to show that he was destroyed because of a being more powerful than he, but it was because he thought he knew the truth.
A recurrent theme in Naruto and why talk no jutsu plays such a big role in the story is the Buddhist concept of delusion. Madara represents the epitome of it through his Moon's eye plan and what he had hoped to achieve.
I feel like Kaguya gets too much hate and should have been saved later after Naruto Shippuuden and maybe make another Naruto arc of her own after Naruto Shippuuden with Kaguya and Otsutski clan lore, Naruto/Sasuke connection to Sage of Six paths, which could lead to alot of build up and foreshadowing of future lore for Boruto.
I think the introduction of Otsustski lore in Naruto was interesting and I feel it got sandwiched in between the fight with Madara and the war arc and deserved its arc or 2 on it own after dealing with and winning the war

What you see as “Wow, Madara is so strong he can beat everybody” I see as the worst example of power escalation in the whole show. It can be argued that he is the first one to break the power scaling

He had to focus all of his chakra into Tendo Pain, he didn't literally almost die, but it really fatigued him, so much so he couldn't use Shinra Tensei for a while after that
