How can anyone NOT enjoy watching this beautiful person doing what he clearly loves doing and does so damn well? I find myself smiling from ear to ear -- his enthusiasm for his craft and that infectious, spontaneous light that happens with his whole face when he smiles -- that is priceless. Clearly this is a very special human being, and the fact that he shares his knowledge, history, and adoration for all things music, is just so effing awesome!

I'm no bass player, and until I recently listened to John Taylor's (excellent) autobiography I wouldn't even have said I was a particularly big Duran Duran fan. But you know what? After listening I went back and listened to the whole Duran Duran back catalogue and I realised all over again just what an amazing band they were back when I was a teenager in the 80's. And John Taylor? I never even realised what a massive part of their musical success he was. That led me here, and as has already been commented his infectious smile and pure happiness at revisiting these grooves has brought a massive smile to my own face. Bravo. Top bloke.

Americans have done the same, but that doesn't keep them from getting the "racist" and " cultural appropriation" tag pinned on them anyway. "...but what a fucking song" - touché
!!! While Rio is your crowning glory, as far as base grooves and technique goes, I've always felt that this song is, all around, the absolute best of DD, right down to Simon's dodgy lyrics. I really wish I'd bought the single on vinyl back in the day.

This remains the only Bond Theme to hit the U.S. Billboard #1spot. Classic tune. I love these uploads - JT is one of the most underrated bass players in modern popular music. And I love that smile when he settles into the groove around 3:05. This man STILL loves music. A true inspiration.

There has always been something really sassy and elegant about your bass playing, John. It is one of the defining elements that has given Duran Duran such a unique sound. As a bass player, these videos are like instructional gems, far outstripping just playing your greatest hits, but instead offering incite and instruction into how to be a more comprehensive bass player.

Amazing song and amazing bassline, but most of all I’m amazed by how well spoken and good of an instructor John Taylor is. I watch so many bass tutorials and he has got to be the most articulate when it comes to explaining the intention behind everything and deconstructing how it’s done.
You’ll ALWAYS be one of my top inspirations when it comes to bass and music theory, you’re truly iconic and will always be a legend!
