I saw Duran Duran perform this song in Atlanta 2018. It was incredible. I kissed my husband during the song so we could say we kissed during a live Bond theme song! It too was unforgettable!
I was a kid watching Roger Moore descend that fire ladder as this score played in the background my ears are eternally grateful to hear it come to life...I actually visited San Fran last year and listened to this as our tour bus stopped at the building it was transcendent
Damn....that bassline though. The whole song structure....lyrics...chords...pumping 4 on the floor heartbeat!!! When all we see.....is the VIEW TO A KILL!!!!
Duran Duran nailed this one. An interview with Roger Moore and the movie makers showed that the band and this song not only went to number 1 it propelled the movie into number 1 as well. Great Tune guys!

1981 was the first time I heard this band here in Ireland. I was 12-years-old and even then I loved them. John Taylor's bass is nothing short of sublime here.
By the way, the in beginning performed Bond Intros are: 1:00 Goldfinger 1:36 Diamonds are forever 2:13 You only live twice 2:27 A view to a kill (of course..) But best of all: Duran Duran performing their killer Song!
This is one of Simon's most haunting, powerful, dynamic and evocative lyrics. His delivery here is lovely. The chord changes they came up with in collaboration with John Barry are mysterious and exciting. A View To A Kill is one of the most energetic and stimulating Bond title tracks. The arrangement is sonicly delicious too ....
Duran Duran are on my bucket list. Have been for 30 years. Just went to England and they not touring. Just my luck. Now Andy Taylor not well. Love this ballad.
I miss the 80's. This is back when even what back then would have been seen as "Boy Bands" or "Pop Bands" not only played instruments but also wrote their own music. Duran Duran was a great band. They may not have been everyone's cup of tea, but even a man like myself who listens to everything from Metallica and Phil Collins all the way over to guys like Method Man and Nas.... I love Duran Duran... The 80's was one of the absolute best decades for sound, voice, and musical talent.
Just found this version (prologue starting @2:28) of A view to a kill. Still goosebumps after 50+ in the repeat! The lower tempo and minimalistic sound gives it si much drama and put emphasis on the just perfect lyrics, knowing it was written within a week…
as a kid my memory is that I don't think he was appreciated as a vocalist as such, a great band, but no one ever said what a voice, but this proves there was a lot more to his vocal range.
I always thought he was a good singer back in the 80's but unlike many other aging singers his voice just keeps getting better and better...I actually like his singing better nowadays...
For any 007 and Duran Duran fan this is absolutely awesome
Oooohhhhhhh yesssss
Awesome
This is by far one of the best versions I’ve ever heard in my life.
100%. I listen to this often.
Best of the bond songs
The best Bond theme ever, and still totally under appreciated for just how good it is.
No, that would be The Living Daylights
Top comment and I'm in total agreement...Gen X kids rock....f**k the haters...👍😎
@@ferd1572 yup a view to a kill and living daylights were the best out of all bond movies where as the newest bond song sucks ass
I still prefer "Thunderball" and "License to Kill", but this song is in my top 3! My top 5 is complete with "Goldeneye" and "Nobody Does It Better"❤
They still make me cry after 40 something years... Amazing!!

It is amazing how Simon has retained his voice over the decades. I think that is rare.

Best ever Bond intro song. The 80’s music is the best.
I completely agree with your comment.
First bond movie I ever saw in the theater as a kid. The intro and the story of "view to a kill" was mesmerizing. Thanks for the performance.
A view to kill was one of best songs Duran ever recorded
*the best
FIFU
It was the last recording before they originally broke up
it was their second (and final) no. 1 pop single in the U.S. .....
Up there with Ordinary World and Come Undone
Ordinary World and Come Undone were superior songs but this concert version comes close.
This band is great preforming live…if you get a chance to see them live, you will no regret it!❤❤❤❤❤❤😊

@@user-ys6fd8kn9c you are kidding, right?
I went through a stage of Bond Theme song addiction - the theme songs for 007 are an institution themselves. This one's near the top.
everything before pierce brosnan was the best, everything after was crap (hated the alicia keys/madonna crap) they weren't good enough to be classics
Paulo Martins Roger Moore did not have a bad one in any of his films
This one made it to number one
Best Bond Theme song ever in my opinion
Well said.
John Barry + John + Simon + Nick + Andy + Roger = perfect James Bond song.
Probably my favourite Duran Duran live performance.
