- The members of Duran Duran reflect with ACL's Terry Lickona on their evolution over the last four decades, as well as the inspiration and creative process behind their 15th release FUTURE PAST.
Duran Duran is singer Simon Le Bon, bassist John Taylor, keyboardist Nick Rhodes and drummer Roger Taylor. Internationally acclaimed, award-winning, and among the best-selling acts of all time, the Birmingham, England natives celebrated their 40th Anniversary in 2021.

To be fair, we have to honour Warren as well. Without him, there would not be the Wedding Album and Ordinary World. He deserves recognition just as much as Andy. Both are great!

I think they are the most unknown legendary band from the 80s. These guys are awesome. When I say "unknown' I mean they aren't known by the youth as much as others from the 80s. I don't hear any of their music in movies or commercials. It seems like if they could re-release one of their old songs it would be well received by many.

@@michaelking4578 hmm. I’ve never thought about that. But where I live, I’m Vancouver, British Columbia… everyone of my generation knows them. I’m also 52. So from the time they came out they were part of my life. As for the youngest generation, I can’t speak. My kids know of them due to me.

Duran Duran has been my most favorite band since the 80’s, I’ve only seen them in concert twice but hope to get to see them many more!! Thank you Duran Duran for such a legacy❤️
Every time I listen to these guys do an interview, I'm so impressed by their intelligence and perspectives. They are a rarity and their music has stood the test of time, like Bowie's and the Beatles'.

I’ve loved this band since I first heard and saw them in 1982..they’re still just as captivating, articulate, amusing. Talented and beautiful inside and out as they were then!!! Just saw them play in NYC last week and you’d never know they were guys in their 60s!! They sound absolutely fantastic and still put on a spectacular show!! Can’t wait til their Rock n Roll Hall of Fame induction in November!! Just gutted it’s in LA!!

Me and My wife love this band we wish them the best they bring the young man and the young women out of us brings us back to a place in the 80s witch makes us feels great Thank you Duran Duran our prayers are also with Andy Taylor keep up the great work we seen them in 2023 in Miramar Florida the Energy was awesome everyone at the concert was so friendly everyone said hello when they sat next to each other everyone had big smiles 😊

I love this band, Simon, John, Nick, Roger/Andy are amazing. They write the best music. Simon's voice is gorgeous. I am so happy that finally there in the walk of fame, took too long in my opium.
Those first 2 albums are so hard to beat. I wish they would put out another effort like RIO….

This is the first time that I can recollect hearing and watching an actual interview of this band..Back in the 80's on MTV they may have had interviews I'm sure but this one is very interesting and very intriguing..Love this band and have since 1982 when Rio hit the airwaves the same year I graduated highschool..😁👍🎸🎤

As Roger lastly said, "not many bands around like ourselves with a 40 year history", but hopefully those of us that were teenagers (I'm 58 this year) continue to see their creative energy continue to build and mature!!! The band DD got me with their sound from their album Rio and each album they've created matured with different stages in my life as I matured. Wonderful to see them find inspiration from their low times to continue as a band and a special mention to Warren, as an American guitarist who filled one of their voids but made a huge musically creative contribution for years after. Sorry to see him be asked from the band's record company to ask him to leave at the making of Astronaut. I wish him well on whatever projects he's working on!!!
I am 51 I lost track of this band in my 30;s and I didn't realize they were such serious musicians. they are GREAT!

I saw these guys in Seattle (May 2023). For two hours, I was that 13 year old girl who saw them for the first time back in 84. Every time I see these guys, my inner teenager comes and squeals in delight.
I was 8 years old when I was convinced I was going to marry John Taylor😂 Saw them a few days ago for the first time. Heaven.❤

They been together so long they look like i know the Taylors are brothers but Nick and Simon looking like their brothers also
If it takes Duran another 6 years till their next album, they will be almost 70....and if their good health continues, its going to be yet another album worth owning.... i always keep my fingers crossed that the great songs will just keep coming, but i think that, just 1 more album is the most realistic scenario.

I love duran duran but please don`t put lgbtq agenda down our throats.The main reasons i like this band is cuz they always stayed away from the politics.This is someone asking them to say it.With that being said , i really did`nt mean no offense to any community but i think people should keep their sexualities in their bedrooms.
The guys have always been very plainspoken about their feelings and support for what is now labelled the LGBTQ agenda. Take a look at the 90s Behind The Music episode where Nick says that Duran Duran has always been for boys and girls and anyone in between. Somewhere along the way a simple issue got politicized and now some people want to silence people they don't agree with, claiming something is being shoved down their throat. I wonder what you would say about their recent Halloween show where Simon was a murderous bride for the encore, in blood-spattered gown and tiara. From your POV, makeupped and metrosexual Duran Duran have been political from the start. Maybe you missed it when it went down your throat.
