  • Ey up!
    A wonder out from home for a wild camp in my local woodland being Eddie McGee’s training ground for survival and tracking back in the 80’s. Eddie McGee wrote several books including the ‘complete book of survival’ and was a notorious tracker helping police hunt several murderers.
    I’m lucky to have this place on my doorstep and have spent my life exploring and utilising it for fires, wild camping, my fell running route, wild swimming and making dens.
    I give a basic review of the DD hammocks SUPERLIGHT TARP TENT and the BIOLITE STOVE.
    Also a look at a couple of bushcraft bits I’ve made.
    Get outside!

    You could see/hear how nicely knackered you were by that run earlier! Cracking spot (close to home is always special) and glad the impromptu fire happened - made all the difference in the end eh? Without getting too soppy it's also great to see a Northern male in genuine admiration of his lass - quite touching was that. Anyway, new sub here - I can see this channel doing very well! Looking forward to more. Cheers. Rich.

    Thanks for the video. I too have purchased this same DD Superlight Tarp Tent, but not yet had opportunity to use it...so camp results were good to see. I bought the Tarp Tent SPECIFICALLY for hike in Fly Fishing trips, just in case I camp over for a single night. I'm not intending to use it for multi-night camps. The highly compact size and carry weight of just under 2-lbs was a KEY factor in getting it, as well as it having a floor. The compact, very light Tent weight allows me to pack a lightweight ground sheet, I will use with it, and a small 100% waterproof silnylon Tarp to shelter over it if I choose to.
    I plan to use mine in Spring, early Summer, and Fall seasons only. That single wall Tarp Tent I do not consider very good for Winter, as you discovered. If you insist on using it in Winter, maybe pitch a 6-ft x 7-ft waterproof tarp over it. Also, if you have a means to safely suspend it, I have heard some use a small tea candle lantern that helps reduce condensation inside the tent.

    • @BUSHMANandBLUE

      Definitely a great lightweight tent as a just incase. You could tie your fishing line to your toe and stick it out of the tent whilst you sleep 😂😂😂

      @@BUSHMANandBLUE Today is set 2man tent up day, check everything over, I have bigger tents but for the purpose and foreseeable weather scenarios it's a 2manner, poly sheet underneath, (leafage on top of that makes your floor an insulated mattress) and hopefully the fly from one of my larger tents will fit over it as an extra weather barrier, also have tarpage but a tent fly is purposeshaped and should sit nicely over the 2man frame/poles and can be lashed down properly.
      Probably throw up a short vid later of it.

    Thanks and keep the videos coming!

    • @BUSHMANandBLUE
      @BUSHMANandBLUE  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The main rule is ‘leave no trace’ which fires when not managed properly do scar the ground. Many don’t abide by this so ideally no fires are best. There is the safety aspect too where again if not managed properly can cause forest or moorland fires quite easily. I love a fire but if I have one you’d never find where!

      Hi there buddy, If force of weather prevents you and Blue from being out and making vidis, you could make a knife for me, I'd pay a good price for a handmade knife like yours, without the slightest hesitation.! So if you and Blue ever have enough time on your hands and you change your mind, please do add me to your waiting list!
      That's some wonderful "man n his best buddy" countryside you have there. Me 'n my furry buddy; he's a golden retriever, a rescue job, often enjoy a days trespassing in what little local land is not intensively farmed. Its so intensively farmed (Lincolnshire) that it could just about feed the whole UK if need be so, dog friendly hikes are few n far between, and there's is nothing like your moors n dales. How I envy you. But we make the best of what we do have, public footpaths along the margins of the fields and a few disused rail tracks all nicely overgrown with wild vegetation, trees, bushes n shrubs.plenty of interesting game and wildlife scents to keep any dog's nose working flat out.
      Thanks for your You Tube videos, always visually and mentally stimulating and thankfully unspoilt by half wit noise on musical instruments. Wind n rain, birdsong and the barking of deer is perfection so keep em coming like that, they are so much appreciated. And don't forget, if you ever have enough spare time to make another knife or two, save one for me! All the best n God bless you both and keep you safe in our treacherous English climate. I know how brutal it can get up on that high moorland in winter when the wind driven sleat is flying sideways. All the best, n lookin forward to more of your adventures with Blue. Stay safe always, best regards to you both from me n my best buddy.
