As an ex Otley lad i Loved Thruscross reservoir. Used to go walking around there all the time with me dad when he was alive. Great fond memories seeing all this again.
I have got rid of my waterproof jacket and started using my poncho I like that it covers me better I have modified my poncho to stop it flapping in the wind The one I have dose have a waist pull as it's a British army surplus poncho
Listening along as always and then a short but surprising set of pipes there. Could be a few more hidden talents we have yet to see. Another lovely day. Sending happy vibes from your world audience - west oz
I'd die of claustrophobia if I had to sleep in a bivvie! I do enjoy your videos - it's like going on a camping trip with an old Yorkshire friend. Thanks for sharing.
belated birthday greetings Al. Another fantastic slice of enjoying all nature has to offer. Always a pleasure watching you get out and about. Much respect🙏- Kenny
It's funny you said about feeling closed in, when living in big cities and towns. My mum was from Yorkshire and she always said that's how the Yorkshire countryside there made her feel, closed in, and she then moved to Norfolk where she lived from the age of 26 to 81 (never lost her Yorkshire accent). Bet you're surprised about that. Can't believe you feel closed in by the moors and hills of Yorkshire.
I really don’t ‘get’ bivi bags. My tent weighs less and is just as quick to set up and take down whilst giving a heap more space. If trying to be low profile then I’ld rather use a tarp, again can be lighter weight and more practical.
Belated birthday greetings Allen. Really enjoyed the video, not sure I’d like the bivvy idea. Currently cycling the Rhine from Basel to Amsterdam, mixture of camping and hotels. Got great inspiration from yourself to do it. Many thanks 🚴🇮🇪
Happy birthday Al, drone footage was bang on.. proper got the hang of editing.. some great shots of the dam wall .. can’t wait for some more mountain adventures. You’re an inspiration pal .. keep going and sharing the journey
Thanks for a great video. Do to health issues, I am unable to do these wonderful things myself. I do enjoy seeing such beautiful places. By the way, Happy belated Birthday!
Thanks again Al, we love sharing this time with you and feel you're talking only to me and Susie. Your videos reflect your own personal journey through life and we see a great deal of this in your positive ideas about life and enjoying nafure. We are demanding though and now look forward very much to your next adventures. Peter & Sue in the Bega Valley, NSW - known as the Sapphire Coast..
If you want a breathable waterproof bivy, nothing beats the Tennier Industries US MILSPEC bivy. Three layer Assault Fabric. The best! The competition doesn't even come close.
Have you checked out the Australian Alton Bivy, made using a breathable fabric and designed with space to keep your kit inside at the head. Not cheap but really well made. Thanks for a great video, but missed the dog !
I've been out hiking lately and have conquered both Meolwyn Mawr and Moel Ddu in the last 2 weeks. But I've not had a wild camp in over a year and I'm itching for one! I'm hoping to scratch that itch next week! Keep the brilliant inspiring videos coming Al!
Hello Allen and of course beautiful BLUE 🐕💙 That was a COOL shot of the DRONE returning to you on the bridge.❤. It sure is a beautiful place you're living in over there.. would really love to get back over there 😥 Always enjoy your relaxing videos ❤ Catch you and sweet BLUE 🐕 💙 on the next one Sir Allen ❤
Happy belated birthday ❤ The reservoir looked beautiful, we often visit one nearby us ‘Cod Beck’ at Osmotherley, think you and the ‘Beautiful Blue’ would love it too, plenty of places to camp/hide! ❤
I have a similar bivy product, which I used for testing the oxygen concentration while it was fully closed. After only 20 minutes oxygen was down to 14 Vol.-%, in other words such a beavy can be a death trap, thats why there should be a warning label at the inside of these bivies to never close them completely, I guess yours also has this label. Now if a bivy is contructed in a way that you cant have any vent open when it is raining, I would call that a bad design, to put it mildly. The other problem is, when it is raining you wont prepare a dinner, you cant get in without wetting the inside, when you are in you cant change your wet clothes, you cant even go outside for a pee without further wetting everything.
Bivvy bag (not a hooped one)with net and a very small tarp is better, it allows cooking and shields rucksack and boots. Needs one offset pole or stick.
This was a Great Upload, Testing different kit in different scenarios is what it's about. Yes you could have taken an 8 Man Tent with Loads of room, But you didnt... Maybe next time.
Bivi's are to scary for me ! , A pal was bashed into by a Deer , another was almost crushed under hose hooves ! , 😂 and I like to be able to sit up in my tent / tarp . 🙂
Hope you don’t mind me commenting about a thought that randomly popped into my head (as they often do!). I just thought I’d ask it in case it was worthwhile, so please accept my apologies if it’s something you’ve already done or considered etc.! Silly question, but just wondering if you’ve ever done/ considered any review videos challenging providers of budget tents/ equipment to provide you with products for review, just to see how good or bad those products are? I wonder if manufacturers would perhaps be happy to provide products & for you to put up donated products for charitable online auction afterwards (well, the ones that survive testing & are worthy of use!). If so, perhaps it’d encourage newbies to your channel who are only just starting out on the path to exploring/ experiencing the outdoors etc. (but don’t know where to start), by offering reviews of items they may want to begin with buying/ trying (or even the opportunity to purchase your auctioned items for charity) without breaking the bank or ending up being a complete waste of time & money, & at the same time having the reassurance of having your thoughts & knowing you’ve tried & tested them. …and there’s also the potential for much comedy, laughs & smiles (which would be totally worth it in itself of course!)…even if it just inspires people to not give up, to keep going & to look on the bright side, when things go wrong or don’t go to plan with life & adventures etc.
Happy birthday have to you Agree sweet chilli sauce and Mayo with your burger is yummy my daughter got me into it , I like unicorn leaves you and your daughter call spinach 😁 that is sweet
I've never had any interest/desire/wish to sleep overnight in a bivvy or a hammock. Guess I've led a "sheltered" life. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada, U.S.A.
Seen those new bivvies pop up on my Amazon not long ago. Very cheap and look pretty comparable to the OR Bivy. Not my cup of tea but nice for someone who doesn't want to pay OR prices for sure
Loving your explorations bushman. I do some unusual camping..either in my 'spring open' tent or the back of my estate car......but do you really only drink tea ?....i always have a flask of brandy with me......sleep like a log. Take Care Gavin and my son Ben from the South of France (Pyrenees)

Wild camping in Hobbiton. Beautiful! Thanks for taking us along.
My pups would love that walk! It’s remarkable that there’s not a soul in sight!! Thanks for taking me on a walk without me getting wet! 😎

Looking forward to seeing your latest adventure with Blue .. Hope you have had a wonderful bank holiday weekend Al

Love this!❤️ Couldn't think of a better birthday than this Mr bushman. 👍😎
Those echos were amazing Al.
Blue needs his own bivy bag!
Your content is great. I prefer watching winter camping and windy ones but all your videos are great. Very enjoyable.

Yorkshire always will be in your heart👊
Happy birthday, Al! You bring so much happiness to so many. Although Blue was not with you this time, I look forward to seeing him in the future.

Yes bivvys are definitely made for dry weather or dry snow👌

Will be watching more of these adventures , want to meet the Hound , Be Well , best wishes .
super enjoyable, thank you
Looks like a decent bivvy that mate. Lovely viewpoint 💚
Happy belated birthday 🎉 those birthday burgers looked amazing 🤩 x
Belated, but still: Many happy returns of the day 🎉🎉
Perfect way to round off a Sunday..thank you. Hope Blue enjoys the time off!
well that was amazing great loved missed blue but loved the video 👍👍
Hi Al , A belated Happy Birthday pal , when you said Echo Woods , I isntantly thought of the " Bangles " group .
Sounds like the perfect birthday to me! Hope you had a good one. 😊
Wow what cool shots you got. I’d have trouble looking over the dam, don’t like heights.
You should always bring a tarp. At the very least to keep your stuff dry while you pack up.
Happy birthday 🎉🎉 hope to see Blue next time ❤
Happy birthday Alan, have a good one🥃🥃🥃
This was a Great Upload, Testing different kit in different scenarios is what it's about. Yes you could have taken an 8 Man Tent with Loads of room, But you didnt... Maybe next time.
Never been a fan of a Bivvy but I like the idea of the hoop
Hope you had a fab birthday doing what you love 😁
Happy belated birthday Renaissance Man! Another year coming with your fantastic content. When is Bluey Dog’s birthday and does he celebrate?
Too risky for condensation overnight. But maybe a tarp above the bivy might work wonders !
I probably cant do Bivy tho, felt so small.
Happy birthday (now belated!) Al. Xxx
Bivi's are to scary for me ! , A pal was bashed into by a Deer , another was almost crushed under hose hooves ! , 😂 and I like to be able to sit up in my tent / tarp . 🙂
I would be interested in seeing a comparison of a 1 or 1.5 person tent and a bivvy.
Where weight and packed sizes are comparable.
❤
Spotted the standard builders yellow bucket and random leftover timber propped up there Al !! Big job on?? 🤣
Happy Birthday Al!🎉
I know its a little late but happy birthday mate🎉
Happy birthday Al, all the best 👍🏻
Happy belated birthday al great as always ❤
And happy birthday young’en 🍷🍷
Happy birthday Al. Love bivvying, have two of them. Love carrying less weight and being a bit less encumbered. Cheers!
Happy Birthday!!🎉🎊🎂
Happy birthday Al!
If you come to my country, Turkey, one day, I will be honored to host you.🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
The xlite regular, big enough for someone 6’?, i use the xtherm large but need something lighter for summer
Okay, so I could never do bivvi. Looks more claustrophobic than my MRI machines. Panic attack. 😳😳😳
Happy Birthday!

Love to hear the Curlew as well, very scarce these days!
Another good one Allen I think I missed the name of that water you were beside. Cheers B. K
Happy birthday handsome 🥳🎉
Glad to see you testing cheaper gear
What's that stove ring please?

Another great trip out Alan. Miss Blue though. BTW what is the wind guard you’re using on the stove?
Seen those new bivvies pop up on my Amazon not long ago. Very cheap and look pretty comparable to the OR Bivy. Not my cup of tea but nice for someone who doesn't want to pay OR prices for sure
