For me, the problem with Ena's dad is not that his poor word choices tore Ena's self esteem to pieces(Plus the fact that from what I observe, Ena is not talentless and actually has room for improvement- really, 2 years blindly exploring without professional guidance, anyone would fall behind, but whatever), is that he did NOTHING afterwards. Try to talk more sense into her and try to let her see what means? No. Try to consult her about the artist field? No. Try to repair their relationship (At least through Mama Shinonome)? No. Try to give her advice about the future? NO. he just turned around and left the girl to pick up on her own. I'm not sure if Ena would take any attempts of her dad trying to talk to her, but I didn't see him even try.
For Yukihira sensei, I also think his word choices are pretty poor as well(He spoke the truth, but in the mean time also pretty much just rubbished a person's talents, ambition and passion, and talked like she is done for and has no room for improvement) BUT- He's a teacher, he takes the money and teaches, that's all he is obliged to do, he has alot of other students as well, and maybe just doesnt have the time for a student who"Gave up"(Pretty harsh and mean, but it would be moral hijacking if I continue to berate), also, Ena's dad's words are what really crushed Ena(I think), if that haven't happened, for the Ena I know, she would probably take a break, think this over, return to the art class and try to improve the way Mr.Yukihira instructed(She KINDA did in this event and in the two year period, but it could have been much shorter) So, I may not agree with Yukihira sensei's actions, but I also think he did what he have to, and I'm not in the place of saying anything further.
    But Papa Shinonome?
    That's no parenting.
    Really.

i feel like most japanese parents are like that. i understand what he means, like a "if you cant face pain to get where you want to be, you have no future" but thats still so painful to hear??? i dont understand people who want to teach through pain. its not that we have to sheltered, but instead of that they should teach their kids how to face it instead of never do anything and then come up like "youre weak lol".
also, as an artist myself i just hate hearing him say that Ena has no "talent". talent, gift, that doesnt exist. she went through hell and back to get where she is, and so did her dad, what fucking talent is he talking about?? nobody is born with talent for shit, but i guess she has no talent on having a better dad.

In defense of yukihira, he is a professional and he is teaching so his students can compete on a grander, national level. His criticisms arent what crushed Ena but the lack of consistent support after the admonishment from her father did. I dont think anyone could pick themself up if they got called talentless (trust me, i was someone who got called talentless and ive stopped wanting to learn on a critical level ever since) so the fact ena still has the courage to face drawing is what truly makes her a suffering artist. Her dad is ass and he should at least explain himself further if he has no intentions to mince his words in a way that wouldnt critically hurt his 14 year old daughter

That sensei is such a good teacher. His criticisms were harsh, but his goals were always to make his students success.

    thank you for the translation!!!
man this event story is way too real, I love it. some respect for the teacher, even though he's very harsh but he showed parts to improve at the end, which i don't think many teacher actually care to tell that.
-i still dislike Ena's dad though.-

Thank you for translating this event❤❤❤
Ena's pale color palette event and this one both made me cry haha. Shinonome siblings are very relatable as someone who was born without talents and has given up several times. I really love yukihara sensei for being able to look out for ena even if she's harsh and I wish ena's father treated her the same. Can't wait for the next niigo event 💕

Wow. This event was... I don't even know what words I want to use. So, I just relate to her that anything else in the world. I love that niigo made her happy by telling what they loved about her old drawings, also the way she changed through years. I don't really watch event stories, but I think it's time to do so

This is such a great story
Not gonna lie, I feel like Ena is really amazing that she's keep trying to drawing even if her mind and heart collapse(?) Into pieces.
Unlike me, if i felt pain i usually just stop drawing and taking break for such a long time. Because of Ena,now i learn that i have to face my pain and suffering inorder to get what i want... or to see what i truly want like how Mafuyu keep making songs, and maybe like Kanade and Mizuki has that courage and determination to keep going and live.
