@Eggs6131 The slider is down, indicating that the 3D effect is inactive. The green 3D light means that it is available for the software in use, but not that it's being used.

@GeekGeru98 1. Not confirmed but really likely. 2. Yes there will be stages from past MK games. (Example: "Luigi's Mansion" and "Airship Fortress" from Mario Kart DS, as well as Maple Treeway from Mario Kart Wii were shown in the E3 Trailer. :)
the music for the donkey kong country returns race theme is awesome!

@RandomNameFinder To increase the speed of the kart. It was in Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
@brennanneja yes you can blue sparks drift for a bit then it turns to red sparks
@DanDaMaN95cov Yes, they did. The drifting is to be like Mario Kart Wii's style.
@SolarEXtract It's actually from Mario Kart Wii but yeah I noticed that too, especially the menu audio. Hope it's just a placeholder they have for the demo because this is the same demo from E3 in June so they have time to put in the music last

Regular 3DS, For 1, the green 3D light isn't installed in the XL. Ad the XL is about as big as the video screen record, or whatever you call it.
I thought that it came out on the 7th and just found out it came out today, off to the store I go.
@jalene150 Hopefully, they will allow you to play with (adjust settings) the number of laps for the boards like in previous kart games like double dash.

@TheExplorerx I'm not sure if you know how the 3DS works but do you see the little 3D light by the depth slider. Yeah well if it's on during a game it means the game is a 3DS game!

@Panosole It really does. Mario Kart's been running on empty for years now. Double Dash was the last time they tried anything interesting, and since then they've been rehashing the same game.

Coins are for extra points at the end of each race but i do not know what the points are for.

@cenetor69 No, it's 3DS exclusive, then they will have a new Mario Kart on the Wii U someday, but each platform usually only gets one.

@mistypurdy2 it has 32 apparently, 16 new ones and 16 remastered courses. mini games and missions i don't know, but i'd imagine it would have mini games, mostly all mario kart games now have mini games

There are still four races per cup, the demo just had a different format. Races aren't strictly bound to 3 laps each; they can be one, two or three lap races. (I don't know for certain, but I don't think that there are any four lap races). In this demo, the races each had two laps but I suspect that that's for the purpose of the demo. The second race, for e.g., was way too short NOT to be a three lap race. I'm pretty sure that all of the retro courses remain three lap races.

It would be EPIC to have an option that lets you decide which items come up. Think about it. Only wingless blue shells and mushrooms! XD
@LegendOfNikkonolasco Could be, but you rarely get to use every character in a demo version. I think it's safe to bet we'll see at least 15 characters.

@linkerDA the only mario kart they were in except this was Super Mario Kart (the 1st for the SNES) but i think that these coins might be used to buy new kart parts, tracks, or whatever :)
I want this game, nao!! It looks so awesome. I can already see myself. Playing with all of my friends, on the school's library while we're supposed to be studying. Blue shelling until we get mad.

@JaredRandomness Exactly. Getting at least one star and getting Dry Bowser in MK Wii was a huge pain.

@R0cKs0l1dd Oops, you're right, good call. I'm hoping it's a placeholder as well. Also, is it just me or are there new textures, effects and objects in this new demo? I swear these tracks appear more filled out. I suppose I could hunt down some old demo vids and see for sure.
@arieluigi Well yeah, Retro Studios is developing MK7 so it would be natural to toss in a shout-out from the game.

You haven't played many games if you think Mario Kart Wii's version of turbo drifting is the best use of motion control in any game and works well.
There's only 2 laps and the stage is pretty huge.. Does this mean longer Mario Kart tracks for this game? :D And not to mention, the design for this track is awesome (the same with the other demo tracks!!). And since this is only the demo course, I can expect more tracks to turn out like this!
This is great! Looks like they took only the good extra features from Mario Kart Wii. Hopefully it will play like MKDS, but with those features and MUCH better visuals. Haha

@shutyoface96. The coins act the same way as they do in the first Mario kart for the snes...they keep you at top speed

I've really got some issues with the L and R buttons on the 3DS, they feel awkward. Does that impact drifting and using powerups in the game? It looks like you're uncomfortable using them too.

This is looking really amazing. Usually with Mario kart games im like "looks cool, will play but not buy". But this is looking to be a buy.
Looks like is uses coins for speed like in the old mario kart games so it looks like it takes a bit more skill than MKwii and MKds.
The music playing during the game sounds great. Alot better than previous titles.
It seems for this you use A or B (cant tell with video) for accelerate, and R for drift. I hope you can use R for accelerate in the full game.
