Yo d-pad motion gliding works on the 8BitDo? Do all generic USB controllers get d-pad motion gliding? I assumed it was only original gamecube controllers connected with a certain adapter.
Most of your miss haps with the controller is just lack of experience. You cant just motion glider by holding all left/ right, its a mixture of back back left/right all right. Also like on dolphin shoals you need to always go off the glider on the right angle you can't just go off whatever side you want. Still none of those problems, like you can see with shortcats videos remain once youre used to it. Glider vectoring is a "complex" skill afterall.

You’re right, although my VR is climbing quickly - I only started playing online in Feb and so I’m probably still not at my skill ceiling in terms of VR
just to put it out there, at a top level the gcn controller isnt optimal simply because of the notches: it's a lot harder to input a precise drift angle when the notch feels like it pulls your stick towards that 45 degree angle. mk8dx isnt like mkw where you wanna hold a perfect 45 degree soft drift, each turn in this game has its own perfect angle to perfectly take the turn, and the gcn controller making that extremely difficult heavily outweighs the benefit of doing motion glider (which only saves around .100 on most gliders lol) in theory if you modded a normal pro controller to not have a motion sensor, you could do motion glider in normal races with the dpad and have a more optimal control stick. (not getting to shake trick only really impacts bowsers castle, dolphin shoals and i guess sky garden). this would probably be the best method of control but the difference between it and a normal pro controller is negligible
but in lower levels of play, the 45 degree angle on the gcn is probably ideal to just get *decent* softdrifts as most players probably arent capable of using the pro controller's stick to its full capacity anyways
@@knowledgeciaran every turn in this game is different, unless you are the worlds smartest person and have a method to change the gcn control sticks coordinates automatically mid race to be perfect for the next turn, i promise you gcn could never be better than pro controller in competitive play

And at the end of the day, I'd argue that *in the hands of 99% of Mario Kart players, the skill of motion gliding can only serve to act as a crutch.*
i thought this was proven since mario kart wii, i was a demon on wii with it
I tried the GC controller. I went back to the Pro controller. Shake tricking is more useful imo. The buttons on the GC controller sucks, esp the shoulder buttons. They have such a long travel. Also, its wired which is annoying.
I agree tbf
My controler Being wired has a Little broken joystick and can do motion by just using the main movement joystick 💀👍😎
