- As the ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos fought many battles with its pilot Mikazuki Augus, it became too damaged to be repaired. It was then sent to the MS Workshop in Saisei, the home base of Teiwaz, for an overhaul. The new name "Lupus" was given by the Saisei's Chief Mechanic, who was also responsible for the mobile suit's maintenance.
Based on Mikazuki's combat data, the suit was reconfigured as a close combat unit, and its reaction speed and mobility were also increased, with adjustments made through the Alaya-Vijnana System to deepen the link between the machine's movement and the pilot's own senses. As a result, the Gundam Frame's response rate was adjusted to match with the speed that Mikazuki senses. Other changes to the suit's frame include the arms' frame being lengthened to match Mikazuki's senses, while the legs' frame was modified and has ground-use suspensions to help adapt seamlessly to combat in all environments. Lastly, frame parts in the arm and leg joints were replaced by those reproduced by Teiwaz, this helps to resolve the accumulated damages and also improved their movability. The boosters on the waist were based on those previously used by Barbatos 5th form Ground Type and 6th form.
The suit's close combat armaments were rebuilt to better fit Mikazuki's fighting style, and handheld firearms were kept to a minimum. Instead, the suit uses exchangeable firearms attached to the forearms. Defense-wise, as damage sustained until the suit gets close to the opponent is a major issue, it is fitted with light body armor that is designed to most effectively fend off the impacts of being shot by greater use of the curved surface.
When Barbatos goes all out, it's definitely like watching a demon go on a rampage. Even the Hashmel fight seemed as if Barbatos was laughing viciously in finally having a worthy opponent to fight.
Or laughing out of nostalgia. That was one of the things it was built to fight.

I love how frakking SOLID MS are in IBO. That clack of metal on metal always felt so tough to me. Made the machines feel like they could take a hell of a lot more abuse that MS from other time lines.

The sound of the boosters being used on these Gundams is next level. Especially when the Gundam Frames zig zag all over the place 😎
The lack of beam weapons and emphasis on melee and ballistic weapons is why I love IBO fights so much. Brutal, visceral, and a blast to put on surround sound (Bluetooth audio on my car lol)

Iron blooded orphans is my fav all of gundam series. The plot twist, the gundam unit, mc, are perfect. So many emotion at this series. Love it love it so much

I know that it was the original RX-78-2 Gundam and Amuro that was dubbed the white devil by zeon forces but I do feel like mika and Barbatos really do fit the name as well

I read somewhere that in calamity war, it require 3-4 gundam to take down a unit of mobile armor. So it won’t be as great as when Mikazuki vs Barbatos take on Harshmal. Some article claim that barbatos was waiting for mizuki for its whole life. And have to agree…it was build to be stubborn, agile, thirst of blood…the counter version in Build series like Amazaing Barbatos Lupus really hold down Barbatos too much. It’s from the fighting style not because Meijin worse than Mikazuki.

@@ParagonGoetia nope, Mobile armor was over power compare to gundam frame. Only couple Mobile Armor been create during that time. And we can see how Harshmal can easily destroy a whole squad. Gundam frame in IBO only exceed due to Alaya system connect direct to pilot for less interrupt signal cause by Mobile Armor. In fact without Mika, Harsmal can easily defeat Vida or Bael.

@@ParagonGoetia the info also from the book bruh…a squad of four were sent to take on Beast Style Armor. They success eliminate the beast but one Gundam Frame had been heavy damage, 2 pilots gone afterward due to stress on body.

I don't know about yall but Rex was my favorite form. I just hate that he didn't really have a worthy opponent as rex. They had to substantially handicap Rex for any of them to have a chance of surviving.
Rex is a little overrated imo. It's a nice MS but let's be honest...

Nah, Barbatos and Gusion would have been overtaken sooner or later. Difference in numbers, ammo and fuel runs out for them, and in the best scenario both survived enough for Gjallarhorn to give a quick repair to Kimaris, and from what we saw around the series, Kimaris&Julia > Barbatos&Gusion.
At the end of the day they just sped things up so they could go home early.

The Rex unfortunately was fated to fall after the Dainsleif bombardment but the writers obviously had a thing for Julietta because Mika had intentionally spared her life twice despite having every ample opportunity to kill her and remove her as a threat, which he’s done to others for much less and with no hesitation.
Even with a broken Gundam basically falling apart he still completely danced around her
