Plus much like the Spanish inquisition no one expects a wrist mounted gattling gun to just pop out and pop you also 90mm is not a small round (that's roughly a 3.5 inch in diameter bullet for those using freedom measurements) I mean most buildings had a decent amount of tanks can't handle A round of that caliber or size
I'm used to Armored Core, where lightweight units look light and heavyweights look heavy. It's wild to me that a bulky looking Zeon suit could be built for maneuverability under gravity. That said, Izubuchi's design is gorgeous. Thanks for the rundown.
do not forgot the Alex was made for Ray which mean RX-78NT-1 was a monster of suit. The test pilot of the Alex say she can't use the suit to it full prontel and this same pilot that test RX-78-2 and capture Zeons suits.
ngl I think it's a little bullshit that Kampfer was just shot down when we could have had one hell of a cool fight with this series RX unarmored (or I assume that the metal was armor), mostly because the design kicks ass and seeing it just destroyed like that was kind of underwhelming in my opinion.
It's because he wasn't expecting it. Armor or not, if it's a gundam it's probably made of some pretty durable stuff, way more druable than anything Zeon uses, while the Kampfer is specifically made to be a glass cannon, so it makes sense it couldn't really take much of a hit.
To be fair, he did wipe out the entire MS squad sent after him before fighting the Alex, which meant he had spent all his weaponry before the fight. He was left with Melee, which isn't much of an option
The external Chobham armor was there to protect against explosives which actually are able to damage luna titanium which Gundams are made from, other than that the only thing the Kämpfer really had left which could punch through it was the saber and, well, as the others have said, the Kämpfer was meant to be light and thinly armored, boasting speed and firepower in exchange. It might have been able to survive head vulcans but the gatling is of a higher caliber. I actually really like how this fight goes because it makes a lot of sense and plays to the advantage of surprise and disadvantage of not really knowing the abilities of your enemy.
Also, in addition to what others have said, the Kampfer was designed to be disassembled, shipped, and reassembled behind enemy lines. It was extremely good at what it did but it was not meant to a hit. And then the surprise factor of the wrist-mounted 90mm gatling gun gave Kaminsky no time to react as his glass cannon suit became swiss cheese. If Kaminsky knew about the gats, he probably would have been able to win or at least it would have been a closer fight.
Another soldier and Bernie's Zaku would have been a great help, honestly. Misha also stated that there were two other weapons trucks scattered around so......
Yeah,the Heat Hawk and the grenades later used by Bernie would have made a big difference. I think the Kampfer would still have lost tho,this gundam was too much beefed up to be taken head on
Guess the alcohol was making him a bit cocky. The other 2 veterens would've tried to pull a hit and run on the gundam, by getting the heat hawk and run in circles around the Alex.

Fallback to where? The whole op was a borderline suicide mission. Their is no place he could retreat with the Kamfer to rearm. He obviously wasn't going to ditch it and try again against the NT-1 on foot. He probably figured even with just the melee weapons it was still the best chance to compete the objective.

It's kind of an evolutionary dead end as far as MS go. While there was a one off variant used by Noisy Fairy known as Titania, the only real development on it would be the RF Kampfer, but that was a zaku with kampfer cowling essentially. The problem with the Kampfer is it is hyper-specialized for it's role, and thus on an ever changing battlefield, kind of falls by the wayside. I still use one and get mileage out of it in gundam battle operation 2, but... well, even there, in a game based on the series, the kampfer is slowly losing it's prominence as newer, more advanced MS show up.

It's not about the "dog" in the fight. it's about the fight in the "dog". And by "dog" I of course mean Mobile Suit and Pilot. I've taken out entire squads of GM's and GunTanks in a Zaku 1 with nothing more than 105mm Machine Gun and a Power Axe (And that's without ever being hit. Gundam: Journey To Jaburo is the best Gundam game ever made. Change my mind 🤓

Well there is the Kampfer High Mobility Type from UC Engage, which has a purple color scheme, differently designed chain mines (rectangular instead of circular), bigger and stronger thrusters, and can even use beam rifles. Still didn't fix the paper armor though, and this time the 60mm head vulcans DID take it out (the unit was the Gundam Engage Zero also from UC Engage). Granted, this is from a What If scenario but hey, another Kampfer.

@@solaireofastora5999 Not as important as you might think. By the time of the Gryphs War, Newtype based MS and transformable MS were all the rage. Not to mention, by this point high performance general purpose MS became the standard for both sides. Why use a fragile Kampfer when a tougher GM II (yeah yeah I know the GM II's 'history')with the Tri Booster can do the job as good, if not better?

The other Kampfer unit is from Char's Deleted Affair manga, it was escorting Haman Karn to Von Braun City and it tore apart Earth Federation Space Forces trying to destroy her Zanzibar-class "Ingolstadt". There are more out there, but these two besides Misha stuck in my mind the most. Cheers!

I think GMs’ non-beam machine gun used 90mm. So, it’s effective against a Zaku, let alone a lightly armored unit.

ケンプファーの装甲が脆いのではなく、ルナチタニウム製弾丸の腕ガトリング砲が強すぎた。
因みにケンプファー専用ショットガンの弾もルナチタニウム製だから、量産型とはいえ重装甲のガンキャノンの装甲貫通してる。

奇襲とはいえ単機で８機のMSを落とすって凄い戦果ですし、アレックス戦も銃火器が残ってたら違う結果になっていたかも。

There was a GM Sniper in 8th Platoon that took down the Absaras alongside the MC,i think that was the greatest highlight for the grunts ever

I do wonder why the Kampfer never got expanded on. Aside from the fact that Zeon was basically at it's last ends and was really small around the years of the gryp war, how come no one tried to expand upon the Kampfer? Like maybe the Federation wouldn't want to but the Titans seem like they would
Well there is the Kampfer High Mobility Type from UC Engage, which has a purple color scheme, differently designed chain mines (rectangular instead of circular), bigger and stronger thrusters, and can even use beam rifles. Still didn't fix the paper armor though, and this time the 60mm head vulcans DID take it out (the unit was the Gundam Engage Zero also from UC Engage). Granted, this is from a What If scenario but hey, another Kampfer.
@@Devenix8527that's cool but I'd love to see how the Kampfer would look if it was tinkered by factions like the Federation. The idea of a fast hit and run MS is still important after all.
@@solaireofastora5999 Not as important as you might think. By the time of the Gryphs War, Newtype based MS and transformable MS were all the rage. Not to mention, by this point high performance general purpose MS became the standard for both sides. Why use a fragile Kampfer when a tougher GM II (yeah yeah I know the GM II's 'history')with the Tri Booster can do the job as good, if not better?
@solaireofastora5999 One uparmored ground-combat unit fought on Earth, it was called "TITANIA" and it fought until Zeon's capitulation in the One Year War. The other Kampfer unit is from Char's Deleted Affair manga, it was escorting Haman Karn to Von Braun City and it tore apart Earth Federation Space Forces trying to destroy her Zanzibar-class "Ingolstadt". There are more out there, but these two besides Misha stuck in my mind the most. Cheers!

付け加えると、バーニィは最後の一台に隠されていたヒートホークとハンドグレネードを回収して(あわやこれも連邦軍に調べられそうになったところを､アルが渾身の芝居を打っているすきに取り返した)、アレックスに決戦を挑んだ。
