    Taking a small torch with you to look at items if the store is dimly lit can help our old eyes 😎

    you can take a wooden pencil and lightly hit the inside of the cup. If the sound is clear and clear, then the cup has no cracks. if the sound is dull, then there is a crack somewhere, or even you can’t see it.

    Thank you. I inherited my husband grandmother's collection and now I am so invested. I love them and started adding to the collection.

    Lovely video, beautiful teacups! I get the glasses thing, nothing worse than trying to squint to see more clearly. I too have bought what I thought was a matching set only to discover at home that they are from different sets. Thank you so much.

    Hello! How do I tell the difference between a decorative teacup and a functional one? Thanks!

    I'm a very big time Collector of Cup's & Saucer's and if possible the matching Teapot 🫖. I'm very careful and I look over any of the new Teacups& Saucer's and Teapots 🫖I know how often the one's out for Sale can be not up to the highest level. So I check each one very careful.
    Sometimes I will buy one that is like you say/pointed out👉 ☝️ not perfect if the item in the set is not going to be used for every day use.

    Thank you. Brilliant and informative video. But actually, the crazings that are created on purpose, which is called "Kaipian", are really common to be found on porcelain that is made in China. It is a technique that originates from the Song dynasty if I recall correctly. The hairlines are just like crazings on ice while the porcelain is new. As the porcelain has been used for a long time, the crazings would change into the color of the sort of tea that had been drinking.

    • @happygalsvintage7711
      @happygalsvintage7711  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great information! Yes, you are definitely right that crazing is sometimes created by a maker on porcelain and ceramic pieces on purpose for artistic affect even today. That is not the kind of crazing that I was talking about in this video though. Thank you for watching and commenting.
