How is that European? British steam locos only ever got high boilers once British Railways produced their Standard range, and those were influenced by the need for ease of maintenance and took inspiration from the S160 locos from America.
@@PanosSkarp even they didn't gain high boilers until many were modified for ease of maintenance, eg the BR52 was specifically designed to be easy to maintain.
This one was actually designed by Russian engineers and intended for use in Russia during World War I. This one though was one of 200 that couldn’t be delivered due to the Soviet revolution, and which were thus refitted for use on American railways.
The last time I visited irm about 10 years ago they still had abs signalling. I didn't know whether or not they finally ctc'd their entire line. I remember they were installing a block signalling system on the trolley loop.
It has a stoker, but the IRM doesn't use it. Can't remember if the stoker itself is inoperable, or if its because they can't get the smaller, crushed up stoker coal for it.
i want to give this video a like but as of this comment the like number is 491 which is a D&RGW steam locomotive so i dont know if i shooooould... alright ill do it

Frisco 1630 is such a nice looking locomotive.

Glad you enjoyed
This is my favorite train
Good choice
That whistle sounds like a WM whistle which is great considering they used to have some of these things.
Steamboat whistle
She's a honey ! Wales UK land of narrow-gauge .
It's a nice engine
Maybe Labor Day there should do that thing again but with a GS4.
You can easily see the euro looks on 1630, especially the high boiler...

@@StaxRail I think he means German steam trains mostly.

What kind of whistle is she running? Great video!
Where is the 6 chime that 1630 wore many years ago?
likely stored in the shops
I think the one she uses now is 5 chime
Just a guess. It's a 3 chime of some sort because I know most 3 chimes have that deep sound a bit like the one 1522 has.
4 chimes were very rare. Usually 1630 has some type of Hancock or Frisco 3 chime longbell. It sounds like the Hancock here.
is this machine still in operation as of today 2021?
Yes, IRM still operates 1630 for events.
What happened to 4003 it’s at the trolley Museum in Arkansas
Wish SAL 544 could be brought back to life. Are the signals at this place true working signals or are they setup to only display one indication?

Nice whistle. That's not the original whistle for 1630 is it??
It’s a Frisco 1500 Flat-Top 3 chime whistle.
@@MackeyBigBoy4014 i heard the whistle sounds terrible today. Needs a tune up with a new retaining pipe, bowl, and cleaning around the chambers
Is 1630 stoker fired or hand fired?
Hand fired
It has a stoker, but the IRM doesn't use it. Can't remember if the stoker itself is inoperable, or if its because they can't get the smaller, crushed up stoker coal for it.

Other then though I actually have a question for you. Why is the Frisco 1630 called a decapod locomotive? I just always have wondered about that.
All 2-10-0s are known as Decapods because they have ten drivers
