    This museum alone must be worth to visit all the way from the Netherlands.

    Time goes by so slow when I’m watching these videos, but I’m never bored. I just enjoy the extended time

    Outstanding videography and editing under perfect weather conditions. You captured one of the crown jewels of operating railroad museums in the world. No need for wordy description or annoying background music. The trains speak for themselves. Well done Sir.

    Glad I found this! Not too many "operating museums" these days!!

    I love how they put the passenger trains in proper order with the RPO and Express cars first, unlike many excursion specials.

      @DynamoProductions-trains  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most excursion specials use baggage cars as concession cars, and it's good to have those in between the coach and first class cars. As this is a tourist train, there's no concession car needed.

    Wow, I really love the views from (and of) the dispatching tower. Really neat stuff, you don't see it often enough.
    Such an underrated part of operations on the railroad.

    Thank you very much for sharing. I've been binge watching lots of train videos. Like how you use not just one type of train, using electric, steam and diesel. I'm going to send these to other of my railroad friends.

    They have 5 miles of trackage right???

    • @shanewalters2565
      @shanewalters2565 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The actual trackage is 4.6 miles, but if you round that up, you are exactly right my friend, it's about 5 miles indeed. My dad and I learned it from a fellow engineer when we were in Illinois years ago, even the museum's wikipedia page says so.

      They have another about mile circle track that they use for trolley or streetcars.

    • @DynamoProductions-trains
      @DynamoProductions-trains  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 1630 uses a steamboat whistle, that's about how it sounds. The 428 project is still ongoing.

      Update!
      "I RECEIVED THIS E-MAIL FROM IRM.
      To our visitors, members and staff:
      The Illinois Railway Museum is now finalizing plans to reopen. Our absolute priority is everyone’s safety in these difficult times
      We plan to open July 18-19 for members only and to both visitors and members beginning July 25-26. These dates are subject to our ability to meet acceptable safety standards.
      Before you visit, even if you have been a regular visitor in the past, please take the time to review the following procedures and policies. There are significant changes from the way that the Museum has operated in the past. We expect these will be temporary, and we intend to modify them in phases as both health conditions and regulations permit.
      Our Promise and Our Expectations
      The Museum is committed to taking all necessary steps to maintain the health and safety of visitors, members and staff. We’re doing our part to keep you safe, but we can’t do it alone. The success of our Reopen Plan requires the cooperation of everyone."
