- This time around on Rhythm Roulette, Mass Appeal linked up with Boston bred and Brooklyn based producer/turntablist Statik Selektah. After putting the ceremonial blindfold on, getting those fingers dusty, and heading back to the studio- Statik created one hell of a dope beat for us, and then put the finishing touches on with a quick scratching demonstration.

Statik Selektah: one of the most overlooked hip-hop producer.
Love him.
so true he's amazing
haha what do you mean?
ATRIBECALLED CAT that's Charles Hamilton
ATRIBECALLED CAT FACTS! HE'S ONE OF THE DOPEST EVER!
Not overlooked in NYC.....that's for sure.
I fucking love Statik Selektahs beats no fucking lie. He always uses real soulful light but deep samples which makes for some good fucking beats real talk. This nigga mad talented.
he made it look easy
Statik is so slept on, honestly even I forget to mention him when naming my top 5 producers majority of the time, but he is definitely up there with Preemo, Pete Rock, 9th Wonder, Just Blaze, Large Pro etc.
salute to Statik and his soulful beats!!!
RZA, Dilla, Nujabes, Madlib, Alchemist, DOOM!
1842 = the passcode to Statik Selektah's iPhone.
Lmao!
Smith & Wesson
Bruh 😂
Wtf BRUH and he acted like it was nothin
Chase Artica fr
@Tatsu 123 😂😂
lmaooo my exact reaction
You can hear that DJ Premier was a big influence on him by how the beat sound
@GPS or yk, influenced his style
He even said it the video where he explains how he made 'Carry On' for Joey Badass and Freddie Gibbs.
National Geographic:
"In the wild, when a producer hears something it likes, it will peck at the source of the sound, as if to consume it's noise from the air. The producer, *sustains* itself on audio alone."
One of the dopest Rhythm Roulette's so far that coincidentally had a meaning behind the records.
Best rhythm roulette I've seen so far. The samples were cold!
Look at 9th Wonders! Blows my mind every time :)
"Rap is an art you don't own no loops"-Guru
thats a man who does this non stop. He did this with zero effort like nothing. CRAFT
2:34 - Nicolay used that sample on the first Foreign Exchange album on the song All That You Are.
The bass on that joint is crazy
love it
He sure did!!!!
Nicolay def was the first, but I like Statik's version too.
Yeah he did surprised statik didn't realise that, or even know who the sylvers are...That's what love is made off, was chopped nicely by him and needless to say a classic song from foreign...median kills it....Maybe the best rhythm roulette so far
I don't think I've EVER heard a Statik beat that wasn't BANGIN. ADD THIS ONE TO THE LIST. ANOTHER BANGER!!
The Alchemist was my favorite DJ/Producer in this new millennium...still one of my favorite beat makers but Statik Selektah easily took the crown from dude. This dude is a beast on production and his selection of MC's for his albums is a cross from the old school to the new which is dope! His style to me is a blend of Primo, Pete Rock, Large Professor, and even 9th Wonder. Dope on the beats.
Darringer & Madlib should be up there to
should definitely do a knxwledge episode
Still looking for knx
he said he never gonna do it. knx does what he wants
He seemingly chops and arranges everything in Pro Tools which is INSANE.
"Its not the tool but the hand using it"
wish they'd release an album of all the rhythm roulettes, most of these beats have been dope - this one especially, the sample is really euphoric
The best beat of this series so far.
Enter to win an Akai MPK25 & Numark M4 DJ Mixer from Rhythm Roulette! bit.ly/RRGvawy

still to this day this is the best beat on rhythm roulette by far
That’s a PRO. He did that shit quick & to perfection.
oh shit, the Blue Scholars used the same sample! It's called Loyalty, check it out.
I knew it sounded familiar! It was bugging me because I knew I'd heard it, but didn't know what song!
+starlo3 Good catch! I believe Foreign Exchange used it too. Nicolay used it for Phonte!
+JedLi Kenneth word? oh that's tight man
+JedLi Kenneth Thought the same thing when i heard this. So dope.

4 mins and 50 secs...that easy. lol. camera crew was probably at the crib for 10 mins and out
When u know wat u doing it dont take long to create the meat of a track
GENERAL RED fr finishing a beat the hardest part
@@mindsigh_ agreed. Especially if no artist is involved
One of the best rhythm roulette beats on the channel
Damn he nailed it great upload and he one of the best I've seen on rhythm roulette
Easily the best of the beats made on this video series. Statik is a beast
For anyone to have done a collaborative effort or even get as far as a single track on Statik's albums is always blessed for the major reason that a Statik tune has the ability to throw you into freestyle mode and utopia all at once!!!!
I've watched this about 8 times now.
same
2:28 Blue Scholars/Sabzi - Loyalty
I actually learned something in this video that ima apply to my beats now, dope shit 💯💯💯

Statik Selektah: Keeping the origins of hip-hop alive.
AMAZING!
That was dope!!
I see a lot of people naming others who used this sample, so I thought I'de name an artist who was licensed this track. The artist name is ANARCHY, is a Japanese Emcee. Chune is titled... Yep, Loyalty.
He made that look sinple ASF and the loop was fire ASF
This is sick as hell!!! FIRE
This is 🔥
That's how we was raised... Big up to Static, the most underrated
Man this beat is so Dope!
Does anyone else notice the sample from Drake's "Get Over It"? I think 9th Wonder produced it. It's an old mix tape joint.
yup I was just about to say something about that lol. good ear man.
+Steve Hamm Thank u sir. That's the trained ear of a 41 yr old Hip Hop head, emcee, and beat maker ; )
+Zayd Shakur It's actually from Foreign Exchange - All That You Are. Nicolay and 9th might have put that one together collectively.
I heard something else before that part of the record too but I can't remember what the name of the song was or the artist.
Steve Hamm Ok thanks. I dig Foreign Exchange. I know they colabbed with Drake a few times. He said on the beginning of the song that Phonte was his favorite Emcee. I knew I'd heard that loop somewhere : )
+Steve Hamm Blue Scholars - Loyalty?
Best beat on this show that someone put together. Making beats It comes So Natural for this Cat
This dude a beast
Statik killed dat shit!!! ILL
