    Dammit jt... fine its on my list. I was holding out but across the board this thing is blowing everybody away. Ive been kinda stingy buying 8cr13mov blades because of all the options out there... but with all these details I dont mind paying for it. I appreciate all the info. To me caligo is nicer looking but i like multiple opening options. Well done

    • @JTsKnifeLife
      @JTsKnifeLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks bud, you're right on about the opening methods. The thumb hole is excellent. And the thing I wanted to mention and forgot about the Caligo comparison is the multiple size options. Yes, the Caligo is better looking and I like it more. But there isn't a Mini Caligo or a Caligo XL, so this Honey Badger has a leg up for anyone with a different size preference.

    Great talking points as always I’ve been really enjoying mine as well especially for its multi deployment action I contacted them as well and I was told that they may be trying to get them to some of our big knife dealers but the only problem with that is the price tends to go up when that happens and I think they definitely have it priced right. Well brother hope your having a great day talk to you later

    • @JTsKnifeLife
      @JTsKnifeLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man, and yeah, that will cause prices to go up. But in general the more you produce the more the cost of production decreases, so in time they might be able to find a balance. Here's hoping. That claw version looks sweet to me too hahaha.

      Honey Badger all the way. What I keep finding is that action and ergos and lockup are the most important things for me. The Intrigue is a pretty good knife, but the action isn't great. So even though the steel is better on the Intrigue, I'll take the Honey Badger.

The info you provided about being an S.African background with Lite Optec and being the 1st sent to Amazon! Nice details in the video. The scale comment makes sense, small handles have less issues with flex then bigger scales made of the same materials. Choil jimping, I predict it will becoming a “thing”...

    • @JTsKnifeLife
      @JTsKnifeLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point about the flex. And yeah, two years from now I'll be reviewing a knife and you'll probably hear me say, "Some jimping on the choil would be nice, I expect more from a budget blade" hahahaha.

      Hahahaha well, I figured I didn't need to go there. In general though, there does seem to be a lot of overlapping influence between some of the Danish designs I've seen and the South African ones.

    Lol, glad I'm not the only one that watches t.v. with more than one knife to fidget with, I usually have few next to me. • @JTsKnifeLife
      @JTsKnifeLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My favorite color too. But even though Prince was a ladies man, I wouldn't call him a manly one hahaha. The Purple People Eaters though? Heck yeah. Those old Vikings Defenses were beasts.

    When did this first come out?
    I havent looked for new knives for a year almost. Really happy with the selection i got in my drawer now. And in my 2 other drawers and the exhibition on the shelf lol.
    But this one.... Looks like what i've been missing for the days where i want a knife to both practical, discrete, convenient, capable and light.
    Think im gonna have the opener tong version in small, and then this one in medium.
    The tong black, this regular one tan colour.
    How delightful :))) now im gonna start checking my mailbox trice a day again hehe

    • @Lifeisawheelie
      @Lifeisawheelie 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Naaah, the tong in medium hehe.
      And this one in small. It will fill out the vacuum that my sanrenmu 7063 with aluminium scales has left. I dont use the 7063 because the opening/lock type is too fiddly with that size of knife. It needs to be larger if it has the axis lock or thumb stud.
      And i need a finger choil for such a small knife. And not those horrible aluminium scales. And deeper carry.
      But i love the blade shape. And i looove a flatgrind blade. And a thumb hole for spyderdropping it open.
      Speaking of acid.
      That pocket clip is pretty big... Thought about ordering 2 right off the bat. But im gonna buy 1 and give it the usual ferric chloride treatment i do.
      Im sure i will love it

      @@cody3362 I think it's a well made knife, but if you're planning on hard using it repetitively I'd invest in something different. @@cody3362 Well, I've handled well over a dozen of these Honey Badgers by now and they all lock up very well, so as long as you aren't doing anything too crazy, I'd say it would be alright. Again, maybe a better steel or handle material preference would be better for what you need, but for what it is the Honey Badger will be great.

  • @SteveKluver
    @SteveKluver 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks JT.
    This knife, really is something special. I bought the large, 16 days ago, and got it out to handle, during your video. That point on the lock-bar is there of coarse, on the large version too. But I really have to poke my finger in there, to get much of any 'poke' from it.
    Until a person gets one in hand, it's hard to appreciate just how nice this knife really is.
    As we know, Amazon is out of stock. What I find odd though, is that all options seemed to stock out at the same time (all sizes & colors, 6 part numbers). Which is just too statistically improbable, to not think something else is going on. My first guess is, that they want shoppers coming to that listing page, to have options. I suspect, that once part numbers started dropping from stock. They just shut it all down, until more stock arrives.
    One more interesting thing I found, while reading the reviews, and questions >
    Question: Are there any plans to carry the green variant?
    Answer: Yes there are! The green ones are on the way to the USA, and will be available here on Amazon in early Sept.

Would make a good skinning knife, but that huge finger choil gets in the way for cutting cardboard and such. I have yet been able to get it sharp as I like. I wanted the D2 version of this knife so I paid $65 and went with the large size. I found that the scales are only okay. They don't feel as grippy as many of my other knives. Not horrible but there is better out there and hopefully I can find aftermarket scales for it someday.
    As far as the blade itself goes, the large size feels a bit too large for me. The blade is bigger than I expected and because it is also fairly thin, it feels kinda flimsy... I have yet to really test it though.
    The pocket clip is awesome and It allows you to put the clip on the other side of the knife but unfortunately it can only be carried point UP when closed & in your pocket. I personally prefer it to be mounted on the pivot end.
    My last gripe is that my blade is not centered in the handle when closed. It doesn't rub so it isn't THAT horrible but for $65 I expected it to at least be centered. Maybe I'm asking too much...
    The bearings are awesome and the opening and closing is extremely satisfying and fun. The edge is ALMOST shave-your-hair sharp right out of the box but that's easy to fix if necessary.
    For $35 it's an awesome little budget knife with lots of nice features that make it worth the money. For $65 it is a bit of a disappointment even though it has a D2 steel blade. I guess that at $35 i can let certain imperfections go but at $65, I just can't.

      If you bend the whole knife with your hands while closed you can center the blade. Just watch the blade and bend it the direction you want it to go. I do this with 200 dollar benchmades. It doesn't hurt the knife at all as long as you don't over do it.

      @@jackdunn4463 I appreciate the advice. Unfortunately I tried doing what you said and it still isn't centered. Maybe i can't get enough torque on it, idk. In the end, i just called customer service and they had a new one to me in a few days.
