SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB 170MB/s SD SDXC card teardown opening lock switch investigation

I didn't say in the video: Splitting open the card the lock switch went flying and I couldn't find it. The issue wasn't that it was missing/not fitted.

I have a sd card with the metal contact bit all scratched up. If i took it apart and changed out the contact bit for a new one would that help me recover my photos? thanks

I wouldn't suggest trying to change a contact, as removing the contact will damage underneath, best to try to get a good connection through what's there already?

I don't know but they're thinner so it would be harder to enclose a board in a box and not get bulky.

Defenitely fake card (most probably lowest possible size -like 64Mb re-labeled by shady guys who have access to orginal plastic molds/labels/packaging. I was conned the same way. Lesson learnt - always format card bought online before paying. And then return if that does not work as expected or have any suspision. Mine was marked 95Mb/s though - worked like for 10 photos and then died just like yours

From memory I think I'd been able to replay a bunch of the videos on the camera before this happened. Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm blaming myself for unplugging when powered on for messing this up 😁
