I agree soldier, you made an excellent choice living on the base. Coming from a military family my old man opted for base housing the most enjoyable experience. Funny story. One time we came back from overseas and no base housing was available due to needing painting. My old man excepted it as is and all th e family members became painters. 😯😄
Hahaha! What an awesome story! So happy you all were able to move in and do the painting yourself. Surely it made it feel more like home away from home! And we agree, glad we decided on base housing.
Okay, I will be both of you adopted DAD an give you an lecture. One of the joy being in the service is traveling and seeing the world. So option # 1 off base living cons, you don't know what kind of landlord you getting the scale range is from the bottom a flat out slum lord too the top an honest to good Christian land lord. Then you have the unexpected expense that comes with renting an house/apt. And you mentioned this in the video transportation expensive depending how far you go from base. Pros about living on base no unexpected expense your prices on base will pretty much be universally compared or matched with other bases on the U.S. Mainland. You landlord is the U.S government which eliminates the remote possibility of a slum lord. And earlier I mentioned one great benefits of the service you get too explore the world. You and your sweetheart take that unnecessary risk expense you saved by living on base and go out and explore the island of Guam. Amen and a salute.
Thank you so very much for your very thoughtful comment and great advice! My husband and I will take your advice and run with it! There's so much left to explore in this world and not enough time, but we will make the best out of it! Living on base has been a great choice for us!

You guys are on AFB? I'm heading that way talked to housing office and they said we will get a 2 bedroom instead of 3 bedroom. How did you guys get 3 bedroom house on base?
@@SpaceInvadersHigh Hi there! We were lucky to get the offer for 3 bedrooms. We were supposed to get 2 bedrooms, but all the 2 bedrooms were occupied at the time, so they gave us the 3 bedrooms. I noticed that there are a lot of people PCSing in and out. I saw a couple of 2 bedroom houses are available and a lot of 3 bedroom houses are vacant. Hopefully the circumstances change and work in your favor by the time you get here.

Did you know that you can buy a house and pay it with your housing allowance and a VA loan? My son did that through NFCU.
