I lost my Dad my best buddy in April. I still cry whenever I think of him or if anybody mentions him. I can only imagine that he is healthy & happy & in a much better place. In Gods care. ❤

Just thinking of loosing my dad can throw me into instant emotional meltdown if not carful. He has been declining in the last 6 months i’m guessing it comes in waves and is normal for the most part. My Dad , my hero, my everything.

Yes definitely he is in a beautiful place and with loved ones. You will see him again, and until then be the best you can be, the person your dad is proud of! I lost my dad and friend, and have to remember his words that we will see him again and to keep looking up to your maker and Creator. Keep moving forward.❤

My teen son was in residential treatment for 2 months, and now in PHP. This episode highlights everything about him.
He is not emotionally mature enough to cope with stressful emotions/situations no matter how low it is in reality. His reactivity has put him in dangerous situations and his decision making has self-sabotaged his life. He has been trying to embrace the therapy program, but there's something deeply rooted that makes him emotionally disconnected and unable to self regulate and disconnected to the pain of our family.
As his mother, i feel so helpless. Trying for 3 years to help my son with therapists, hospitalizations, programs, tough love still not making a true dent. He will begin EMDR, hoping it will help release the emotional trauma buried deep within.
    Thank you for this episode

I’m sorry for your pain and anguish. However, you need to take a step back. It’s his life and he has to figure it out no matter how long it takes him. I’m almost 80 and I’m still struggling with all this pain that started when I was 13 or so. I have a nephew, he is a teen and he has found that yoga is helping him with all his problems, besides therapy and medication of course. So, take a deep breath and embrace patience and especially a good sense of humor.

Could he have a personality disorder. I have a boy too and he has gone through changes as you have described. He is 22 and at last seems to be settling down and maturing, studying, working having a balanced life. He does sports, has a social life, studies and works now. I used to dread the future but not any more. I feel we have to give them time to grow and find their own feet while keeping them safe.

Relationships take a lot of work especially when I am repairing myself. It’s best to work on ourselves first alone, it’s tuff. As time goes by we must use these tools forever and ever in order to grow and learn from ourselves or relationships. Being Human beings is a big ball of feelings emotions and energy which we will continue to grow from it all with a open mind and open heart. Thank you both I appreciate it ❤❤

Allot of us were not ever modeled proper ways to deal with our emotions so we just react the way our parents did and they were probably never modeled that same thing so we slowly learn that the best way to actually communicate our emotions is to actually say them out loud and say instead of showing and getting angry because you're jealous of somebody say you know when you looked at that woman or you did that that really hurt me and say it in a very calm non judgmental way most of us explode myself included and I have to learn to just calmly not invoke the ego inside a people and just properly communicate maturely exactly how I'm thinking inside

Don't limit yourself on the love languages Lewis. It's like anything, you have to work it to develope it, and it can become your thing much like crunches were something i never liked and now i do . And the love languge of gift giving, which I've heard you use in that example a couple times, is so diverse that i imagine you have a way of being/giving gifts that you likely already enjoy doing. Cheers.

When Lewis talked about the healing journey, the processing of the inner child; i was wondering with this question
    * can an adult be trapped in that childhood phase in a way they are not able to even now as an adult pull themselves from there to then start the journey to peace and continuing the process to bridge the gap of the inner child's memories.

I also had the false belief that if I did the work (hard work) that I would get the prize. This has really hurt me. Always distroid when I didn't win.
